As someone who rescues senior pets a piece of advice I always give people is cherish this time you have and embrace this new normal. So many times we look at an older pet as a shell of who they were before, but as our pets get older it's still them, just with a few more challenges. I wish Kermit the very best, and I am sending you all the very best wishes

My dog is 12 and not nearly slowing down yet, but omg it crushes me to think of people loving or enjoying their pets LESS just because they’re less capable or spry 🥺 The thought of my pup losing her sight, or hearing, or mobility, or mind, AND ALSO being abandoned or unwanted - cast aside and left to feel confused or scared with less comfort or love than her more “fun” days - is literally making me cry 😭😭

My parents and I lost our oldest two far too young (5 and 6, the same year), and so now Watson, our baby boy, is an old man and lost most of his teeth at this point. He turns 11 in November and we’ve had him since the day he jumped into my mom’s coworker’s car as a starving, mange-ridden, garbage scrounging two-month-old kitten. I’m 27 now and just cat-sit for my parents over the weekend, and picking up my old man and feeling how light he was broke my soul. Apparently he’s still the same weight he was last year according to his vet, but little things like feeling him lose bone density really make everything so much realist with a senior pet. Cats’ natural lifespans range anywhere from as young as single digits and as old early-to-mid twenties; I hope you and your baby enjoy a happy and comfortable journey through the senior years ♡

@@meowmew444 Almost the exact same thing with me and my first doggo Bran, who passed suddenly of spleen cancer on May 3rd of this year. He had an otherwise great day, and healthy, great 11 years of life though. We only get them for so long - if I could go back, I wouldn't change a thing (barring the magical ability to poof the cancer away). I only wish I HAD known, so that I could have made the extra effort when he was still well enough to go do some of those bucketlist things we didn't get to do. If I can say one thing, it's definitely to make sure you find that time to go camping or hiking or swimming one more time, whatever the thing is, if possible!

@@meowmew444 I had the same thing happen almost exactly 2 years ago. My girl had a tiny lump on her stomach and we took her in. She had some breathing problems so we assumed she had a respiratory infection but it was cancer that had already metastasized to her lungs. We thought we were going in for a simple check up and came home without her. Four months after that we found out one of our boys was in the end stages of renal failure, and then 7 months later our oldest had a brain aneurism. I’m so sorry.. putting down my animal was the most traumatizing thing for me. It took me so so long to mourn him and recover. Just know that eventually it does feel better but for now, your sweet heart needs more to time to process. I’m proud of you and I’m so sorry ❤

I remember when Jenna brought home Kermit for the first time 😭 I cried with her I’ve never been so touched by someone receiving a pet like that. 13 years of lots of love and fun later and it’s bittersweet to look back on.

i just want to say that the love and level of care you give your dogs is INCREDIBLE. only around 10% of dogs diagnosed with Cushing's live longer than 4 years after diagnosis and i believe Kermit was diagnosed 7 or 8 years ago?? absolutely amazing and truly speaks to how devoted you are to your fur babies 💙💙

I love that little nasty boi so much! I'm so glad you're able to be with him in his golden years and help him live his best life for as long as he can enjoy it. Seeing our dogs grow older is so rough, and it's the hardest part of pet parenting. You're doing great! ❤

You’re right, it is hard to look after a pet as they get old. The confusion, accidents and anxiety becomes a full time job to manage. Hugs to the nasty boy ❤

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for loving your dogs and animals so hard. Please please never stop. You bring so much joy, love, and happiness to their lives in a world where many animals do not get to experience that at all. A year ago my dog we rescued when I was a kid passed away and even during his senior years when his hearing and eyesight wasn’t good, he still brought so much light into our lives even though it was a difficult and scary time. We have never stopped loving him to this day - I know Kermit has and will continue to do that for y’all too. All we can do for them is love them as hard as we can, for as long as we can. And to tell you the truth, it’s never long enough for us. But, I know in my heart it is for them. Kermie, Miss Weach, Marbles, and any animal that is shown love like that never really leave us. Thank you for giving them such compassion and love 💗

thank you so much for sharing kermit and his struggles with us! navigating the condition(s) of a senior pet can be incredibly difficult to cope with, and i can only imagine how much more complicated that gets when you have an audience that is also invested in your life and your pet's life. i hope your wonderful cermit is able to find peace and relaxation in whatever way he can, and i know whatever care decisions you and jenna make, they will always be with his best interest in mind

Thank you for posting this for the KZbin only folks! Sad to see that Kermit is losing his hearing 😢 my cat went deaf recently and when she doesnt notice we're coming, we stomp so she feels the vibrations of us approaching. She’s gotten used to it, but it took time.

I had my pup of 15 years pass in December. Taking care of your pup in their old age can be hard, but they deserve it for the unconditional love they give us. You're doing a great job. Be patient with him. He'll always love you and he'll always be in your heart.

I just want to say as a veterinary technician, you guys have been giving him absolutely wonderful and amazing care. You give all your cermets and hounds top notch care and that definitely doesn't go unnoticed. You are doing everything you need to with them right now and I'm so happy they are in such wonderful care. I grew up with Jenna and when Julien came into the picture I loved and appreciated all you do for Jenna, Bobby, Werm, Weachie, and Bunny. I'm so happy they have you two for parents.

I have a 14-yo (June 15!) and a 10-yo (Marbles’ bigger twin) and it’s sooo hard watching them age. My 14-yo Shih-Tzu is almost blind and almost deaf. I have followed Jenna, Kermit and Marbles since the Max days, and they feel, in a way, like part of my extended family. My heart goes out to the whole Marbles family. You are all loved. 💜

becoming a pet owner is signing up for that time where their end comes, you’re never prepared for it. I lost my senior dog last august and i was so depressed and miserable. He was my childhood dog and i still love and miss him so much. It’ll hurt, but i have my dogs ashes in a necklace i always wear and a paw print of his in clay. it helps me feel like he’s always with me. sending you guys all the love! 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

All i can say is, if i were a dog I'd choose you and Jenna to be my parents because you give your dogs so much love and attention (i hope that isnt weird to say haha) you two have given all of your animals such a beautiful loved life from the very beginning and that is something to be proud of. Completely relate I remember seeing kermit around the same time I got my dog. She's been having a tough go these past few weeks in her old age. Her 3rd vet visit in 3 weeks was yesterday. It's hard bc you really do not expect them to change the way they do. All you can do is try to give them the right love, support and help so they can enjoy their golden years. She's my first older dog as well so it's a lot of emotions and not knowing what to expect. Love you guys and hope kermit continues to get to enjoy the golden years in comfort with yall💛 ❤️

i know the struggles of having an old dog, my little one is 13 going on 14. I just wanna give him the best while he's here but it's hard to balance the fact that I'm in my early 20's wanting to go out and do a bunch of things while what my dog needs is someone with him most of the time. They're precious though so we give them what they need.
