This channel makes me feel less crazy with each video. I cancelled all the streaming services and then found that Cup shortly after. I'm primarily playing handheld these days due to time constraints and bahdahboom, I found the Steam Deck videos. And I've given up on the guilt of the backlog and started looking at it as a library and a list of opportunities to play new games that I have access to, and here we are. Love it. Also, I'm definitely a big fan of the hectic endings 😂

Bro im glad I found this channel. I can relate. I’m 36, I’m a new father with a 9 month old daughter, and I work from home full time. Gaming on console for the past year has been a struggle. I bought every major release last year, from Baldur’s Gate 3 to Tears of the Kingdom. But the only game I managed to finish in 2023 was Final Fantasy 16. I’ve tried a few new ways of gaming from the Legion Go, to the PS portal, and even a gaming laptop, but I returned them all. My wife bought me the Steam Deck OLED for Christmas and I haven’t looked back since. This thing is the backlog killer I’ve needed. I just beat Max Payne 3 last week and that was a game I bought 10 years ago on my PS3. God knows how many games I’ve double/triple dipped on this thing. I also just finished Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Now I’m “attempting” to play Intergrade, Crisis Core and Rebirth simultaneously. Anyway it’s nice to know there are other fathers like me. Keep up the great content. I look forward to joining the discord.

@jesusmetal921078 ай бұрын
I view my backlog like my bookshelf. Like with games, I buy books as I can afford them and if they interest me. I don't feel guilty about not having finished everything because I buy these as an investment for the future. I will have choice, decision, and should I find myself in the situation where I have more free time, then I will have the ability to make good with that choice.

Why your talks are popular is because you are putting voice to stuff we as Dads and gamer's have often, or at least thought about at some time. Our thoughts are unimportant, but to us personally, they are words of wisdom. In other words it's extremely easy for us to connect with you.

I just lobe these vids bro. I’m not a dad yet but I feel the same as you do about life. As a Christian husband who works to provide, I have almost no time to game comparatively to my youth. I try to savor the time I do have. But I also struggle to enjoy games like I used to due to always feeling stressed from work. But God always renews my strength when I seek Him wholeheartedly. God bless you my friend and I genuinely relate to your vids. Love and prayers brother.

Subbed. Second video I've watched from you, but I honestly love the perspective, also as (me) a spouse, no kids, and fellow Steam Deck owner. Can't believe I second guessed buying one at one point. Still one of the best tech purchases I've made in years. I guess in a way, your content affirms the idea that just because you have more responsibilities, doesn't mean you have to stop gaming. Cheers!

Being a gamer for almost 40 years, my backlog of games is probably over 1,000 amongst various consoles. I've taken the same approach where it's more of a digital library instead of something I must get through them all. Within the past several years after becoming a dad of two girls, I find myself mainly playing certain favorite games and will occasionally play something I've never played before. That helps keep my gaming needs balanced and the Switch and Steam Deck have been lifesavers on this. Currently playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PS5 some but mainly on Remote Play on Steam Deck and Super Mario Bros. Wonder on Switch. Keep up the good content!

As a fellow husband and father, this video hit home with me. I have repurchased so much of my Switch library and even a handful of my already small PS4 library on the Steam Deck. It is just the ultimate way to play for my current life situation. Even many of my PS2 games I have had for 20 years that I haven't had a chance to finish are finally getting done because of my Deck.

This is such a great little podcast series. It’s so positive and upbeat. My backlog is about 250 games give or take. I have about 80 in Steam, 150 or so in Epic and about 50 console “exclusives”. Craziness! The worst part is I’m still buying games lol

That’s what I’ve done as well. I’ve created a list of top 20 games I want to play the most and posted it on my wall. What also helps is make sure the list has a good variety of genres such as fps, 3rd person shooter, rpg, jrpg, mario, zelda, rts, etc. Ever since doing that, I’ve forgotten about the rest of the games I have and it’s made me feel a lot better.

Just found your channel and this playlist. This is so cozy and just what I need to listen to. Fellow dad here. Steam Deck saved my gaming time. I have a maximum of one main title on each platform (PC, PS5, Steam Deck) to play at a time. Seems to work well for me clearing some of my library (aka backlog). Currently playing Sea of Stars on Steam Deck and loving the chill vibes and turn based combat. Now I'll start from your Cup 1. See ya. For priorities of games I tried to make a list of games on top of mind that I wanted to play. Took away the decision making while looking at hundreds of games in the library. Also I don't play MP/competitive games since I can't finish them. Also I suck at them since I don't have the time to git gud anymore.

My backlog/library has grown a lot in the last few months thanks to some impulse purchases and Gamepass having an amazing selection. I find myself rotating through a different every night but enjoying the variety. I'm currently working through Starfield, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Arkham Knight, and Star Ocean Second Story R. I find that as I get close to finishing one game, I add another so there's never a gap. Heck, I've got Read Dead Redemption 2 and Dead Space sitting on the digital shelf once I finish a few from my current list.

My steam backlog is over 800, I’ve come to the conclusion that I will never play them all. I’ve tried to organize my library my time to complete. I can resonate with everything you said about backlogs. One thing that helped me not buy so many games is thinking like this: if I’m not going to play it right now, don’t buy it. Keep it on the wishlist, the game will be cheaper or on a subscription platform I already pay for before I would end up actually playing most games I buy. I don’t like repurchasing games at full price. If it’s on sale, it doesn’t feel like such a sting.

You're getting a PC to go along with your Steam Deck? Make sure you connect it to your TV and use big picture mode with a PS5 controller or Xbox Series controller. You will get nearly the same experience on your TV as you do on the Steam Deck but much higher resolution and frame rate. I have a 25' HDMI cable to connect my desktop to my 4K 86" TV and use an Xbox wireless dongle with my computer in the same room it acts a bit like a Nintendo Switch connected to the TV, but two separate devices specialized for each scenario. The long battery handheld and the high power computer playing the same games with the same game saved.

I am 43 lifelong gamer. Was on hiatus for awhile, but I got back into during 2020. Since then I've gotten into the habit of wish listing games I'm interested and only purchasing on deep discounts. Check reviews and collecting exclusives and hidden gems. So far, quite a bit on Switch and just recently got back on Steam and doing the same thing there now. I tend to avoid AAA games or anything that's going to require a lot of time to fully enjoy as I also am a husband and a father and work full time. I like having a library and being able to pop into something I might be in the mood to play, not concerned too much about finishing anything. If I pay $5 for something and it gets only a few hours of playtime, then it's worth it. I remember growing up and paying $5 just to RENT a game for 2 days.

I try for long term high hour games (fallout NV) and I have a some type of platformer or short hour game (less than 10hrs) going . Maybe a 3rd game I am trying out to put into the queue behind one of the others. i am with you on the Switch, I haven't touched it since getting a Steam deck. This why game producers need to offer a discount or a key you can use to download or play games on another system similar to purchased movies on a disc. if you already own the game on another besides there exclusives. I have already had to choose recently were to purchase a game, example Hell Raiser I purchased on steam,but if there was a discount would probably purchase on PS5 too. Bottom line my go to for a game is on the steam deck/PC besides the exclusives.

I appreciate what it does for me but I think more than anything I appreciate the fact that I live at this point in time where I can enjoy these things. This is the first time in thousands of years of humans being around that we could truly entertain ourselves in a stimulating way. People have always had books and books were great as well they definitely required your imagination to help envision what you're reading, I believe games do that as well they're just better at filling it more of the blanks they're closer to movies that they are books in that respect. I'm just thankful that I can enjoy these things that the year 2024 has to offer. And I'm currently playing Metro Exodus on the steam deck and I'm extremely surprised how good it looks at how well it plays, I've already beat it on Series X but it's just a different experience
