Boy your hair gets really cute when it’s curly. But wow , I love all that curl - you have very versatile hair for those demanding styles. I really thought this was pretty. I’d love to see an inspired “ Isolde “ look .... ( since you are studying Celtic Studies , ) !! Just an idea

I'd be interested in seeing you tackle papillote (butterfly) curls. They're done by wrapping your hair into tight loops, wrapping paper around them, and then pressing them with a hot iron. They were worn from the 1600s all the way up to the Edwardians. There are some pretty good videos on KZbin on how to do them

I love this look. It is actually very similar to a style I wear now (my hair is naturally curly)! I would like to try adding a lace piece like that in the back. You should do curly bangs more often! Totally adorable on you :)

Loved this video! I actually have a question pertaining to hairstyles of this general time. A lot of the time in movies and paintings I see women having their hair wrapped by ribbon or scarves several times with messy curls peaking out, and I was wondering how that is created? There's a particular scene that comes to mind in the 2004 movie Vanity Fair where the main character, Becky Sharp is wearing blue and red ribbon throughout her hair and I can not for the life of me fathom how it is placed. Also, Becky Sharp should totally be a fictional Beauty Beacon! Hope to see a video of it soon, but thank you for all of the hard work you do!

Hey Lucy! Back in the day, were these small curls framing the face a specific haircut? Did these ladies all just happen to have naturally curly hair or did they have to style these face framing bits? I’m OBSESSED with the look of these curls
@Loepsie6 жыл бұрын
It was definitely cut and styled that way! I think you might enjoy this painting of a little girl with paper curlers in the hair around her face 😄 The painting is from a few years earlier but this was done pretty much up until electric curling irons were invented: i2.wp.com/tempsdelegance.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/02-jean-etienne-liotard-madame-liotard-and-her-daughter.jpg?w=841

@@Loepsie I've looked at videos about how to do paper curls before! There's a way you can wrap hair in a triangle of tissue and then flat iron it to get the curl. I would love to see you try this technique! 😊

Hey, I tried this look this weekend and I had a few struggles with keeping it together. I have thick, curly, heavy hair. I styled my hair, and the decorative comb/clip in the back kept loosening and I ended up using bobby pins to hold everything better. After a few hours it got even more loose and looked kind of sloppy. Do you have any clip reccomendations or tips that could help me with this? TY 😁
