Yes, truly inspiring! Jim, about a year ago I moved from zone 9 in CA to zone 11b (or H2) in HI. Really enjoy your videos to see which ideas and plants I can make work here. Love that you have tropicals mixed in your beautiful, eclectic garden. My biggest challenge here on Oahu is sourcing a variety of plants!

These in-depth tours are just fantastic, and the ID captions are much appreciated. I almost always watch twice - first for pleasure, second for taking notes. I've tried to emulate your more relaxed mindset for pest issues, and only fret over a couple sentimental things. Our bigger bumbles also like to 'go through the backdoor' on my mandevilla, but I have a hard time being too annoyed at them.

Jim, I just had to laugh because Holly and that little bumblebee both are resting or taking a nap in the first part of this video, and you're like the energizer bunny! I'm like that too, when I talk about everything growing in my landscape! Your garden is recovering quite well from the tropical storm, Elsa.

Learn so much on from the tours. My friend takes autumn cuttings of the Wendy's Wish salvia in z4b. Neat bee trivia on their hijack nectar behavior. I am not a salvia gardener, but it keeps returning, so I continue to gift it away in autumn/spring.

I ordered a Daphne and it arrived in February! Bad timing for New Jersey weather. I contacted the company and we decided that I store it until the temps got above freezing. It’s April and the plant is doing well in my basement and I can’t wait to get it planted. The variegated leaf is lovely 🥰 my soft caress got burned by the cold. Another purchase inspired by your videos. I’m zone 7.

Your landscape tours are such inspiration! I love how charming your gardens are, like everything belongs and looks like it naturally sprung from the ground in its place. For some reason (zone 8a) Salvia hates me this year! I'm not sure what I did, maybe because I moved most of it later in the Spring. I'll have to hope for a better Salvia show next year. I also love Aspidistra! I found a gorgeous white speckled Aspidistra a couple years ago, but it didn't do well as a houseplant and is no longer with us. If ever I see it again it will go in the garden where Aspidistra seems to be much, much happier. All your flowers are beautiful but your most beautiful flower is Holly! And I think she knows it.

Thanks Jim. I always learn something from your tours. 🙏 Until recently I would fret over most pest issues in my garden but now I’m taking a more relaxed approach. I find if you do a daily walkabout of the garden, you can identify issues early and in most cases beneficials and other wildlife will help keep a balance.

You are right the pineapple sage (it’s actually an herb) is zone 9. I am in zone 9 (Texas) it is a perennial it come back year after year. It blooms red gorgeous flowers that look a salvia (salvia’s are a type of sage plant). Oh and hummers flock to my pineapple sage. One more thing it blooms only in the fall!! That’s the beauty of this herb.

I have a few Proven Winners Rockin' Deep Purple and Blue Suede Shoes Salvia annuals that are similarly showy even when the flowers are spent! The calyx and stems are black and purple and gorgeous... when I purchased them they were just calyx's and I thought they were beautiful alone without the flowers!

I love watching these garden tours. We're both in zone 7B so I'm able to see what will probably do well in my area (north MS). I'm seeing the same sort of growth going on in the beds I started last October. Luckily for me, we had an unusually long spring with rain and cool temps so I was able to continue my planting and transplanting until just about a month ago. What is the short pink zinnia in the planter with the holly? I'm looking for short zinnias other than profusion.

Hey Jim. Always love you videos, I have learned so much. Since I began watching I have tried to add lots of the plants you mention into my garden because I live just outside of Charlotte NC. You mentioned the edgeworthia in this video, but I can not find a source for that plant online nor a white beauty berry. Do you have any recommendations for sourcing those. Thank you. Tell Holly to keep up the great job, of photobombing.🐶

Hi Jim! Your space looks amazing! I have been watching your videos for several months now and I really appreciate how your more laid back attitude has made me less anxious about all of my gardening decisions! thank you so much. I do have a question. I started rooting cuttings of perennials two weeks ago and I'm wondering why I can't plant them in the fall if they are rooted by then instead of overwintering them? I have searched numerous videos and googled but I can't really find anything that tells me why I can't just plant them in the ground before winter. I am hoping to have rooted cuttings of big leaf hydrangea, woodland phlox, dappled willow, and catmint. I live in Powhatan, VA in zone 7a and I feel like they are all hardy to this area so I'm wondering why I can't plan them? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Love your garden tours! Thanks for sharing. In your next Q & A, what can I treat white flies/Aphids with on my Lantana? They are so hard to control here in Zone 9b. I tried a combo of dish soap, rubbing alcohol & water. Almost defoliated my entire plant. Cheers from deep South Texas!

Hey Jim. Your garden is fantastic! It's so inspiring to watch your channel. I have a blush pink nandina (currently in a container, 'underplanted' with Margarite potato vine) which I want to plant into the landscape. We've had inordinate volumes of rainfall and I fear that in the container, it's getting waterlogged. Can I make that transplant now (07/13), or should I wait until nearer the fall weather?
