I remember being pleasantly surprised by how heartwarming/emotional this one was at points, too, especially with Nick Jonas's character and Bethany, and her character growth in particular, and then him naming his daughter after her, so sweet! :) All of the actors and characters were great, though! The next one is really cute too, from what I remember, I feel like I like this one slightly better out of the two of them, from what I remember, but the third one's a lot of fun as well and worth checking out in my opinion :)

I have some interesting theories about what Jumanji really is. I think it must have been designed by some kind of ancient jungle shaman as a test for young people who "seek to find a way to leave their world behind." Maybe it was originally a jeweled amulet of some kind that would transport its victims into a jungle world where they would have to reach a goal and say "Jumanji". Then it was taken by imperialists and put in a museum, but no one was interested in actually wearing it, so it transformed itself into a board game!

I totally agree with you that Jack Black as Professor Shelly Oberon was hilarious. But Bobby Canavale as Van Pelt is terrifying. But not as terrifying as those snakes, which I did tell you about in the comments of your reaction to the first film. I'm surprised that you handled both quite well.

Great reaction as always Addie! I really enjoyed this movie and I watch it over when I need a laugh. Jack Black as Bethany was just so awesome. He plays a teen girl disturbingly well. I love Karen Gillian and have since she was Amy Pond on Dr. Who. She just does so well with the variety of roles she plays, and her portrayal of Nebula in the MCU was wonderful. Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart were awesome too. All four of them did a great job of being teens stuck in very different adult bodies. And Bobby Cannavale I like in this role and as Paxton in Ant-Man. I loved the Easter Egg referring to Allan Parrish from the first movie. That made me so very happy cos I've always loved Robin Williams and I hate that he's gone. This movie wasn't as good as the first, but that was mainly due to the Robin Williams factor.

A lot of people question why in the original film, Peter and Judy (being the future additions to the game) didn't "remember" Jumanji yet in this one the future editions (being everyone but Alex) did remember. It's simple. Peter and Judy did remember. We just didn't see that point yet. They would only remember when they reach the point in which they started playing just like in this movie. When we last saw Judy and Peter it was before their parents ski trip. So it was way before they originally started playing Jumanji. Then and only then would the original Judy and Peter 'replace' the new ones.
