I went with Mediums on my long irons and Large on my 3w and driver. I keep some nice Saplize multi compound grips on my irons, just because I like to use a feathery-light grip and the smaller diameter allows me to manipulate the club more precisely. But when I'm swinging for yardage, nothing beats the solid feel of the Jumbomax. I actually heard about them from watching Dechambeau, but discovered S4I and was very happy to see that Kirk recommended them as well.
@Setup4Impact Жыл бұрын
With my method I aim for zero need to manipulate the club through impact. I guess that is why the grips work so well with my method.

Thank you for the size guide! It matched the jumbomax fitter recommendation and I'm getting one on my driver first to test it and see if I put it on everything again. I am contemplating coming back to these grips after playing midsize pretty well for 6 months, except for driver... so I'll be starting there. Thanks again for the discount.

I just up sized my grips last year but will take a look at these for any new clubs and give them a try. You didn't address maybe the single most important question about a new grip, "Dies the thicker grip have any effect on the all-important club twirl after hitting a great shot with the setup4impact system". LOL. Hey if you have time it would be great to hear about the decision to use the LongArm putter and how your students might know if it is something they should take a look at.
@morten3465 Жыл бұрын
The reason I like my armlock is that it makes strike more consistent with a lot less hands and wrist (Bryson-style). I had to fiddle a bit with grip and stance, but now it's point and it goes there. I switched to the armlock initially because I found my most reliable setup for putting had a regular putter hanging toe down by a lot, it was so upright. So to get it flat on the ground I needed something around 78-80° lie (which almost only SIK can do), almost every putter is flatter around 72 lie (including the TM armlock).
@Setup4Impact Жыл бұрын
Hi Harris!!! Club twirl works better with the thicker grip mainly due to hitting so many more great golf shots that you get more practice that way. Armlock putting is a good option, but it is not an automatic way to putt better quickly. Still have to practice a lot to become good at it. Still have to aim, start the ball on line, and hit it at the right speed. I feel that there is a bit less stress on short putts with Armlock for me.

you should include jumbomax jmx zenlite in your recommendations. its not over weighted, only a tiny bit heavier than the ultralite. Still very light(the xs is the same weight as conventional standard size) they are nice and firm and the rubber top sheet is great for wet or humid conditions.
@Setup4Impact Жыл бұрын
I think I would like the feel of the zen lite, but do not need the extra weight as it would mess up the swingweight of my clubs. On a new set I would try them for sure.

So I have been using CP2 Jumbo's for the last 3 years and love them, which Jumbomax replicate that? When I did their online fitting it came up the the medium +5/16". Would that be very similar?
@Setup4Impact Жыл бұрын
The JumboMax grips are somewhat thicker than the CP2s except maybe the Xsmall size could be close. Medium would be somewhat thicker. The jumboMax are also slightly lighter.

Hi Kirk, great fan of yours & many thanks for your instruction….I know you advocate these larger grips but I was wondering how much of a handicap is it staying with normal size grips?
@Setup4Impact4 ай бұрын
For many it makes a BIG difference. lol I recommend trying one or two first using my sizing info. Hit balls with the Jumbomax and then with one of your other clubs. You will know pretty quickly if they are a big help, or not for you. Most people find out how hard it is to hold onto a skinny grip.

Hi Kirk, thanks for your videos and giving me more confidence and enjoyment in golf. Can I ask what issues you can run into if your jumbomax grips are too big for you?
@Setup4Impact Жыл бұрын
I think if they are too fat that the club will actually slip a bit during the swing. This is what happened to me when i was testing grips. I have my fitting recommendations at setup4impact.com/faq/

@@Setup4Impact thanks so much Kirk . Yeah i have read your recommendations, very helpful. I have 2 in the size XS , I'm a small cadet glove. Any bigger is too hard to hold on to as you say and feels less powerful. Any smaller and I find i get too much hand action. Thanks a million.

Have some arthritis in at least two of my fingers on my left hand, I’m a right handed golfer but of course you left-hand is your main hand in my opinion, for initial golf club . And when I grip a smaller grip I basically feel a little pop in my fingers and with the jumbo Max I don’t notice that pop in my knuckle area. Curious if anybody else replying to your video has arthritis and has experienced good or bad using these grips that’s the main reason I am considering purchasing them. They do seem a little pricey when compared to a normal jumbo grip in my opinion but of course would be worth it if they could alleviate pain?
@Setup4Impact9 ай бұрын
Many of my clients have arthritis in their hands and love the JumboMax grips. You cannot control JumboMax with normal Jumbos. The Ultralite jumbomax are the weight of normal thin grips, while normal Jumbo grips are much heavier (20 grams more) and thinner. I have sizing recommendations based on handsize on my website on the faq page setup4impact.com/faq/

I am right around 7.5, so would you recommend the XS or small. Is it better to go up or down? Based on your sizing it could be either one?
@Setup4Impact Жыл бұрын
It depends on if you would like a bit thicker, or not. You are borderline for either. So maybe XS would be a good choice as not such a change?

Hi Kirk, my hand measurement is 7.75, which you say should be the small size, but using the sizing guide on the jumbomax site, I use a Large golf glove, which they say should be a medium size grip. Do you use a large golf glove? Do you still recommend I go with the small size grip? Any instructions I need to provide golf shop when they install grip? Thanks, Peter
@Setup4Impact5 ай бұрын
Unless you want it to feel very thick then I would choose small. The word small does not do it justice. It is a small jumbomax which is thicker than every jumbo grip, yet lighter too. So Small is what I would recommend. Any grip installer can just install them normally.

I think my glove is medium large, but my hand measures 8 inches.

@@Setup4Impact Hi Kirk, Thank you. I put the JMZ Zen Lite Small size on my driver and love it. [Glad I didn't get a larger size. The small is plenty big enough.] If I love it on the driver, can I be confident to get for all my clubs, or would you recommend I try on say my 7 iron first? Thanks for your advise. Best, Peter PS - Only drawback on the grips is they are tight in my 14 divider carry golf bag. Mine clearly wasn't made for Jumbo grips.
@Setup4Impact4 ай бұрын
@@PeterPastor-o4f I would try before installing them all just in case. Since you love it on the driver it will likely be the same with the irons. It is a problem with golf bags that is for sure. I have a sun mountain carry bag with dividers and it just fits the grips.
