Had a very bad practice today. On the way back I had a notification on this video. Just realized the mistakes I made and tomorrow back to the grind. Thanks again Kirk.

This was really well paced and illustrated. It's amazing how many of these small things you can miss in practice because it's so easy to just skip ahead like skipping reading a short manual. A lot of the points on points of reference and how to customize take a bit of focus to learn, mostly to get rid of bad habits. Once it starts to sink in, it's very comfortable because it's more predictable.

Looking forward to this series, I plan to save this along with the Learning a Single Plane Golf Swing. I have only been using Setup4Impact for a little over a year and always benefit from the reviews in these videos. There are some great check points for the setup in this video that are important to imbed in my process for each swing. I feel like the trailing arm and hand position along with alignment are key points for me to remember to get my setup correct. When I get sloppy with those things go south quickly. Keep them coming Kirk!

This attention to detail along with a lot of drill work is why you are improving so fast!! Keep it up!!

Lot’s of thanks Kirk. Can you explain how the trail elbow should be at impact? And how to work the wrists and snap at the bottom? I feel this will help me and for many of your fans.
@Setup4Impact2 жыл бұрын
Trailing elbow is bent in toward the hip at impact. There is no wrist snap at impact…THAT is the secret. The wrist releases after impact for the top players.

Hi Kirk like the simplicity of your instructions but when to uncock the wrist on the release is most difficult. Suppose it just happens when you are set up properly ? Randy

I struggled with the same thing (and it's still not perfect). The main thing that works for me is to do the short swing drills (moving up in length) and focus on how to lead with the legs, hips, torso to move the hands and only release when the hands are pretty much at or past the right knee. This is also what Kirk has consistently told me to work on with different clubs. The drills work in a reasonable amount of time, but it takes a bit of grinding and rewatching the instruction. And setup IS super important.

No, you have to practice properly which is what my learning system teaches you how to do. Setup is very important, but releasing at the right time is critical. The better that you learn it the more you will improve.

Hey Kirk. I am a plus handicap college golfer with pga tour dreams. I have a lot of biomechanics understanding of the swing and am really considering switching to a single plane swing. However can you put all marketing aside and really think in my situation with a potential career on the line do you really think it would be a good idea for me to switch to this swing?
@Setup4Impact Жыл бұрын
I am sure that setting up on your impact plane will make golf easier for any golfer. As long as you still move naturally without trying to restrict movement. Some teach the method with a lot of rules and restrictions which from my experience ruins most who try it. I do not know how you currently play. If you are consistently shooting under par, and winning tournaments then why change? If however you are inconsistent and not winning tournaments then I would suggest trying to setup on your impact plane as I teach.

Great videos!! I have been having great success with the single plane swing with my irons, but a little slower hitting the ball straight with my driver. However lately I have been pulling my irons with a slight draw on it. My gap wedge is finishing about 15 yards left of target. Any suggestions? Thanks Red

Thank you for fantastic videos. Trying to perfect the single plane swing. I did notice in this video that your grips look to be a little over sized than the standard sized grip. Does that make the single plane swing a little easier to repeat than with the smaller sized standard grips? Thanks for all your hard work on these videos.

Hi Red, I think the thicker grips make it much easier as the thinner grips tend to move around in people’s hands without them even noticing it. I use JumboMax UltraLite grips. I have sizing info and a discount code you can use on my site at setup4impact.com/faq/

Hi Kirk. Just want to say thanks. It’s been just over a year since changing to your SFI method and everything has clicked. Had an 80 off the tips at a very challenging course today. Easy swing, everything straight and out of the middle, effortless golf. For me, concentrating on keeping the right elbow in close to the body through impact makes all the difference. Between my jumbo max grips, SPS, and the SFI method, golf is an absolute joy at 50. You da man

The single plane impact was likely, if not literally, the first type of swing implemented at the birth of golf itself. There's black and white images of players in the 18th century with straight-arm swing setups.

Your grips appear to be oversized. Is that personal or a general recommendation?
