On the high school running track I learned to "gallop" while jumping through the rope, and even change footing on each hop. It's like a half twist, but also moving forward. It's super tiring for both body and mind LOL usually it's a tossup which gives out first! It requires such agility but also so much coordination. But when you nail it, it's like yeah!!!!

I don't know how I came up with it, it just sort of happened LOL. I think I just wanted to move forward and skip in a different variation than alternate foot. Maybe I can rig up a selfie stick with something that stands upright and have a tripod so I can record some stuff, because there's A LOT that I'd like to share to other jumpers, in regards to both progress accountability and demonstrating how I do different techniques. Btw, opened my Plus Set earlier for Christmas.....I LOVE IT!!!!! I can already tell that the 1/2Lb Energy rope will be my favorite!! Heavy enough to feel the weight, has great response and feedback, yet light enough to really whirl around and even do double unders (easier, in my opinion, than even the Agility rope, because of the little extra weight and therefore response, but I'm also able to do a regular+cross double under which is advanced too). I notice that, whereas with typical speed ropes you want to have thumbs pointing straight out, with the heavy ropes I just GOTTA have my thumbs wrapped in a fist. Do you do the same?

I'm from Bangladesh. Do you have to pay import tax and custom fees for small things like jump rope?

Great content as always guys. Much appreciated. I have concern though; Is this style safe for the knees - especially for those of us who have been in competitive athletic sports for years?

Hi Cynchronia! Jumping rope is a low stress activity which means that it doesn't put a lot of stress in your knees. Make sure to keep a slight bend in your knees and that you are landing softly on the balls of your feet every bound. This will ensure the stresses from jumping are nicely dissipated through your body (i.e. injuries minimized).

Crossrope Jump Ropes thanks for the response. I practiced a bit without the rope just to get the rhythm and it’s a damn good workout

In fact part of the reason that people get knee injuries is because they never train their knees in lateral rotation. The traditional idea of only training your knee in a straight forward and backward motion will lead to injury because of an imbalance in your muscle strength to the detriment of side to side movements. Side to side movements are natural in most sports and you need strength in these through your training. Otherwise you will get an ACL or meniscus tears.
