Seeing (and feeling) one of these performances live is an amazing experience. I had the fortunate pleasure to attend a Korean drum ceremony in Seoul in late 2015, and I was mesmerized. Those beats penetrate right down to your bones!

The East has a lot of deep in their drumming. It's a lot of spirituality tied in with it. My releasing as well as cultivating the "ki"... Where in China is called the "chi" energy. With time the energy gets stronger and you will see the drumming gets more intense with time.

Just a question: was this traditionally performed before battle?
@-----REDACTED-----7 жыл бұрын
Too much hollywood, eh? As far as I am aware of there is no evidence for it and common sense tells me that it is highly unlikely. But you could actually research it, just make sure you do not fall for bogus sources.

Not sure about Korea, but Taiko Drums in Japan which are similar in concept may have seen some smaller use in the Sengoku period as one of the many ways of issuing commands in the middle of a battle.

@@건-r7c Might I also add that, from what I've seen so far with Korean drumming, is that, theirs are a lot more faster paced than the japanese taiko.
@ckbear65665 жыл бұрын
@@건-r7c thank you for clarifying that.
@kaijuslayer33342 жыл бұрын
@@Anginitkapetayo Taiko is very big with changing up tempos, often slowing down a lot only for it to slowly creep up to a rush of thunder. That means generally it’s slower, but that also means it can creep up to a ridiculous speed sometimes at its peak.

As a taiko player their playing style is alil different and the drum sticks called bachi in japanese are shorter so they play like a wild rock drummer. The movements are kept short. And the rythmn hardly changes. In Taiko the rythmn is a freeform jazz it change too a completely different song halfway plus the whole body is used the stances are different heights, jumps both need stamina bars for sure thou.
