Range depends on your RF environment. In an urban environment with lots of RF noise, range is less than out in the open rural areas with less noise. On 250mW, you can probably go 10km under ideal conditions. Way more than you need.

Sometimes I had to modify the project, taking the battery off and replacing by a dc input... Or just took the converter off, when it was possible (like the last speaker box I made). You know? So... Testing in this environment with dynamic power on, does say nothing. You can set whatever (like 1W) and transmitter will output 25mW (lowest power) in such proximity and draw low current. Check TPWR in telemetry to see what is actual TX power output. Jumper claims that they tested and “it works with 1W/dyn power”. Sure. They did the same thing :) When RX/quad is 1m away from TX cause real power outputted is 25mW. Then once you fly away and TX will try to go up with power above 250mW, current draw will be too high and TX will stop working as you tested. That means failsafe. So saying “it works with 500mW/1W with dynamic power” is asking for troubles. Cheers.
@AlbertKimTV3 жыл бұрын

@JimB403 жыл бұрын
No intend to mock. It wasn't clear from your movie if malfunction at 500mW and 1W was due to excessive current draw or due to RX being to close to TX. Now when you bypassed BEC and it works, it shows it was due to excessive current draw. So without this mod, setting power above 250 mW is risky in both settings of 'Dyn power'. Just when set to 'On' one will find out about that once flying further away. And this is not obvious at first sight as when RX is close to TX it seems like it works okay for 500mW and 1W settings.

All I can state is my own personal experience. I already know a couple guys who tried my hardware modifications and apparently they messed it up somehow and smoked their T-Lite. Apparently they reversed the polarity somehow, somewhere, but they didn't know much about electronics so it didn't surprise me at all.

Albert just a heads up when you changed it back to 250mw from 500mw you accidentally clicked it back to 500mw that's why you thought it didn't save and why it wasn't working then but yes the voltage boost regulator is being overwhelmed and the scary part about dynamic would be as you fly away from yourself and it increases power it would drop out and you would failsaif you loose your drone or something else very bad, they need to fix it with a better regulator or out a warning on the box that it can't do over 250mw which is fine for most people as long as people know
@AlbertKimTV3 жыл бұрын
Technically, they have a warning already that it won't do over 25mW but I think they can change it to 250mW if they use a high quality cell...
@Dr.HazeFPV3 жыл бұрын
why they didn't designed it for 2 batteries? 🤔
@AlbertKimTV3 жыл бұрын
I suspect they originally designed this to be a beginner radio with no external module support. In that case 1S is totally fine. They probably decided on the external module adapter at the last minute after the main PCB board was already in production. That's where this issue is ultimately coming from.
@Dr.HazeFPV3 жыл бұрын
@@AlbertKimTV in any case it would be enough to add an external battery with voltage regulator to not have to worry about any problems anymore

@AlbertKimTV3 жыл бұрын
If it's an 18650 cell it should work although I doubt the mah rating is accurate. Usually the cells with overly high mah ratings are fake and poor quality. That's probably more like a 500mah cell.

To keep the weight down. They didn't intend for this to be used with external modules at first. They designed it in afterwards which is why it's an issue now.

@AlbertKimTV3 жыл бұрын
It works fine up to 250mW of power which will give most people enough range to out run their video anyway. I have never used crossfire over 250mW so this limitation doesn't harm me in any way.
@43Apfel3 жыл бұрын
According to TBS the full size crossfire is consuming 3.2Watt at 2000mW transmitting power. With a fully charged cell this should be no more than 1Amp at the battery terminal! Assuming that the radio will draw no more than 0.5Amp pretty much every old 18650 should be able to handle this sort of Current! I assume maybe the battery is making very poor contact in the battery bay, which could lead to a massive voltage drop. Have you tried bending the contacts even more to guarantee a really tight fit? Once I receive my tlite I will do some testing myself and confirm the Theorie. As always, great video!
@AlbertKimTV3 жыл бұрын
It's not the contacts as I have already bent them to make the best contact as I mentioned in the first video. The problem is in the way the power is routed inside the radio. It's a flaw in the design. Well, I talk about it at length in the video so not gonna rehash it here.
@43Apfel3 жыл бұрын
I watched all the tlite videos and surely I have seen that you bend the contacts 👍 I still suggested from the radios behaviour that there is some contact point or internal trace with high resistance leading to a huge voltage drop.. once my tlite arrives I will do some measurements and maybe switch voltage regulators around. If I find a solution I will make a video on it :)
