Jumper T16 Radio: Model setup tips

Lee, just purchased and received my new Jumper T16 Pro (the one with the Hall effect gimbals) and been reading and watching everything I can find on the radio JumperTX and OpenTX. Steep learning curve but I have finally yesterday found the courage to bind the Jumper to my TinyHawkk (was a RTF model with the controller). Took a minute or twelve to figure everything out but made it. Just wanted to thank you for the all your videos on the Jumper T16 because they were invaluable to me in getting started. I hope you continue to use the radio now and again as well as continue to make top notch videos on the radio too. Thanks again!

@@tonydean2455 My internal module works great. Wonder why yours is not working? Did you connect it up to a computer. I have not done that with mine. Still kind of figuring out all the adjustments and settings on mine. But overall I really like it. Reach out to these amazing you tubers. Bet someone might know something to try. Thanks again for great videos on the T16 I just having problems with setting up a variometer sensor and D8R-II plus and getting it working on the T16. I did bind to the radio but now not sure what the next steps are from here Thank You. I just got back to Ont. Canada from being over for 3 weeks in England and just loved it over there.

Alert !!! I just got the Jumper T16 Pro. To work with dsm2 and dsmx receivers BOTH internal RF and externa RFl have to be ON in the model setup menu. After hours trying to make it work with the internal RF only and no response I try both on and wala!! works.

Hi. Thanks for the info here. Helped me set up my T16 and it's ready to go for me to have a fly. However, I have a quick question. How do you switch between telemetry screens? I've set up 2 different telemetry screens. Screen 1 is for INAV telemetry and screen 2 is normal data. However, I can't seem to figure out how to switch between those 2 screens. Thanks.

OpenTX is a very powerful system but can be overwhelming for the new pilot. I'd recommend watching my OpenTX mix school for the basics. I've not tried those receivers here myself but the supplied 4-in-1 module has a ton of options, one of which will probably work with those. Best of luck!

I’m all but convinced to update to the jumper from my old aurora9. The only sticking point is if it will bind with my hitec optima receivers. I’ve done some searching and am getting conflicting info. So as you have actuall hands on experience with the radio,probably not hitec?,you may be able to give some informed advice.

Yes, in your model setup, just set the internal RF module to MULTI then Hitec then choose Optima or Minima. I've just done this on my new T16 Pro. It'll be sad to pension off my Aurora 9...

On a wing model there is no need to reduce outputs to 50% .. that will just reduce the maximum throw on both elevator and ailerons to 50%.. use 100% for all... the combined result will be fine

I figured it out. Hold down telemetry and setup a widget. Choose VALUE for the widget type and change the source to BATT.

I used to have the Frsky X-Lite S access and the flashed all my receivers to Access, now I’m wondering if they work on this controller or is there any way to download the access protocol and install it into this unit?

Hi, I have a few basics. 1. @1:47, You should also have mentioned here that holding down the "Page" button will take you back a page (Page Up); 2. @4:19, if you select "No. I need to change something," how do you go back to change something?; 3. @4:31 How do you delete Model10? Model10's popup menu, the one you just made, do NOT have the "Delete model" option. Why is that?; 4. @12:09 how do you remove your settings from CH5 (for example) without deleting CH5 from the list? Hello there! I got this transmitter already, and quite happy about the overall feeling. One question though.. How to bind this Jumper T16 to the Radiolink R9DS kind of receivers which uses DSSS and FHSS protocols? I am somehow unable to bind those receivers in SFHSS option in "MULTI". Do I have to choose some other protocol for FHSS / DSSS?

May I ask where you ordered from? I had ordered 5 weeks ago and the company finally sent word to me that they were going to refund my $$ back. They told me that they would sell me a Sky something at a 20% discount and I had 2 weeks to let them know. So if you would please know where your radio cam from I would really appreciate. @@goode426 I ordered it from pyrodrone.com/ Most likely the seller where you bought it from sells FrSky. There is an issue now between FrSky and Jumper. The Jumper T16 product is becoming famous and people are buying it. It's a newer product and people like it. I've seen in forums that FrSky is afraid of losing the business so their authorized resellers of FrSky are being asked to stop selling Jumper T16 product too.

Lee, i purchased a T16 in june of 2019 and its worked great, the other day i went to go fly and my radio no longer responds to button input, it was working fine when i left the house. i changed out the scroll/button board but still not responding to button pushes... have you ran into this on your T16?

Hi, would you be kind enough to make a tutorial on how this come to play as far as setting up the mixers/inputs? Multpx: The Multpx setting defines how the current mixer line interacts with the others above it on the same channel. “Add” will simply add its output to them, “Multipl” will multiply the result of the lines above it, and “Replace” will replace anything that was done before it with its output. The combinations of these operations allow creating complex mathematical operations.

Hi there. I only have one video on how to setup OpenTX for a swash-mix but most modern helis have some kind of controller that handles that the old fly-bar used to do and more. If it has one of these installed then setup should be simple with you just matching the channel order it wants with no swash mixing needed on the radio.. Hope that helps..

Setting this radio up for a friend... using flysky (I may end up swapping the rx for a FrSky if i can't figure this out). Trying to bind the flysky fs a8s... the Rx does go into bind mode, but it wont bind to the radio. Using external RF Multi FS2A_RX (People had success using this instead of the flysky setting, but i went ahead and tried all flysky modes too). any ideas?

Weight is how much of the signal/control is passed on. If you are new to Opentx then check out the 'Introduction to Taranis' and the 'OpenTX Mix School' playlists.. They may help..

It all depends on the receiver that you are using. If you are using a 'real' Frsky XJT module in the bay then I dont see why not. Best of luck

When I put the 4 in 1 module in my Qx7s it wont support telemetry, or fail safe. Was really considering one of these, however if this radio doesn't support these it wont work for me. I guess what I'm asking does it support telemetry, and fail safe for the FrSky recievers? Thanks for your consideration.

Not sure, I've not tried. There is a setting in the OpenTX menu and the access to the gimbals isn't too tricky. I'll bet another content creator has already done this.. Best of luck with it..

Is there a way to do a factory reset? I added models from a Joshua utube vid and now it keeps doing emergency mode. I deleted all models on open TX and did the firmware update, but it’s still doing it.

I've lost the screen on mine because I changed the time out to 0. How can I reset to default as I have no way of seeing what the he'll I'm doing! Please any advice would be useful! Just found if I shine a torch on the screen is can see the setup screen . Was enough to read set the screen. Jumper should make it so you can't turn the screen off inadvertently!

This this my first go at open tx, I've had spectrum and old school 72mhz jr quattro for 20+ yrs. Wow watt a learning curve, I'm having all kinds of trouble figuring this thing out. I've been trying to with the 1.2m optterra bnf, I can get it to bind but that's it. Can't get it to arm the motor or anything else...

Be careful as there are a few DSM options (11ms, 22ms, X, 2 etc.) so try them all until you find the one that works.. (make sure that prop is off! :D )

Hi, I just received my T16 (versioin 2 with hall) i have tried to set up dual rates for one of my models but nothing i change on the input page seems to make a difference. I even tried to add expo to the standard set up and it was not reflected on the model even though there displayed graph replicates what the expo should look like. changing weight also doesnt make a difference. please help :(

Did you flash the firmware on the radio? It's unusual that changing something as simple as a lua script would change the Startup image. That's normally something you select when you flash firmware?

Dump a file (of the correct proportions - the size escapes me at present) called 'splash.jpg' (or .png etc) into the 'IMAGES' folder, it'll pick it up on bootup.

Well my radio finally came and I'm having a terrible time trying to assign fresh images, I think it's the right size and in the right folder but doesn't show when I go to apply to my model, it does however show when I load the system menu and view the contents of the SD card. Any Idea what I could be doing wrong?

Jumper T16 not shown as being compatible with OpenTX on their website ( OpenTX ) - also heard a few things about it being a clone of a certain Frsky radio with hacked firmware? Was about to buy one but will avoid now until the details are all known.

Check out the OpenTX mix school for a full overview of all the elements of OpenTX and how they work. Servo reversing (sometimes called channel direction) changes the direction of the channel.. Hope that helps..

@@Painless360 Definitely one of the weaker points of this (otherwise great) TX. I personally tend to click only on the lower end of the roller bar, where the actual switch is located; this helps reduce the overall amount of pressure required as well as the stress exercised on the potentiometer and the rather fragile joint pin at the upper end. EDIT: O.K. - Just read through the rest of the comments and found that the above - can be said with much less words :-) and - doesn't seem to work always and for everyone...

Hey guys I’m having issues with using the JumperT16 pro with the BnF umx sports cub the linked video is exactly what I have plane and tx the module binds but no control on AETR they just go crazy and the jumper keeps saying telemetry lost telemetry recovered over and over. Funny thing is I came from Futaba 14SG and I got a dx9 module made up years ago for the bnf stuff and it works perfectly with the umx sports cub. Why only 50% for your mix on elevons?

I just left mine on 100% and it's a bit touchy but great for an IFO or yank and bank combat wing flying.

If you set it up like that then at full elevator and Aileron deflection youre trying to move the servo and control surface 200%. Plus at full deflection in either there is no longer any travel for the other control.... happy flying
