I've been using CrossRope for about a year. I use the ropes 5 days per week. I agree with you that it is worth it, however, Is really important to clean (dry) the handles after working out, because the sweat will rust them eventually. I lubricate them with WD-40 after a couple months to prevent the bearings to get stuck. By the way, very helpful video!

Use graphite... not oil. The oil... especially the WD-40 will eat away at the bearings and attract dirt particles. Graphite stays clean and defeats friction.

New subscriber today. I've already watched a few of your videos and like your content. I just got into jump rope last month. It's challenging doing anything other than a regular bounce at the moment. I've been considering Crossrope and it's nice to know that you've had yours for three years. Durability was my second biggest concern after the price. You're the first video that I've seen mention its longevity. Can't invest in a Crossrope yet. My beaded jump rope is doing great so far. Got a speed rope too but like the beaded one better and both for a fraction of the cost of a Crossrope.

Thanks for the review, I just purchased the get lean set for me and my wife. Also, sounds like your a vet, if so, thanks for your service. I’m a navy vet. Anyway, I’ve read that the ropes can be a bit too long, I’m 5’11” and ordered the long/large, and my wife is 5’3” so I ordered her a small/short. I was planning to just add knots if they are too long, good to know that it won’t damage them. I’ve also heard that if you hit your foot, shin, etc. with the 1/4 lb road, it can be pretty painful, one reviewer said that he thinks it could even fracture your foot. Anyway, thanks again for the review.
@JumpRopeVeteran
@JumpRopeVeteran Жыл бұрын
You're welcome. I'm still active duty. Thanks for your service in the Navy. In my experience, you made the right decisions. It's best to opt for the larger sizes when your height falls at the upper or lower threshold of Crossrope's sizing. The 1/4 lb and the 1/2 lb take knots well. It's not all that painful unless you're moving the rope quickly at double under speed and the rope smacks against the top of your foot. I remember that happening to me one time with the 1/2 lb rope a few years back, and it wasn't that bad. I don't think there's enough force and weight behind any of the ropes to sustain a fracture or a break with any of the ropes that you can move at that speed (primarily the 1/4 or the 1/2 lb) unless your bone density is far below average.

I bought the Get Lean set last year during quarantine. It turns out that I don't care for the 1/4 pound rope because I'm not coordinated enough to do tricks 😬 and I prefer the feedback of the 1/2 pound rope. Just this month I sent away for the thicker handles and a one-pounder (but not the Get Strong set because I never plan to use the two-pound rope). I'm putting the skinny handles away for good, because the thick handles are SO much easier for me to grasp, which enables me to jump longer. I plan to alternate between the 1/2 pound and one-pound ropes; I love them. Thanks for your reviews! I'm a veteran too.
@JumpRopeVeteran
@JumpRopeVeteran 3 жыл бұрын
Lin, thank you for your service and your support. I agree on the 2 lb. It's tough to use consistently. The 1/4 lb isn't just for fancy jumping, so perhaps giving it another try with regular jumping would be a good idea. Thank you again for sharing your experience and checking out the channel. Keep up the good work. JRTF. 💪🏽✌🏽

Awesome commentary and video! I have a couple of thoughts on my own Cross Rope ropes and handles. My only complaint about them is the inability to micro-adjust the lengths. I'm 5'3" and at first the size small ropes felt fine. Now that I've been jumping for over a year, they feel too long. I bought a size X-small 1/2 lb rope but it feels too short (I sound like Goldilocks here, I know.) So I tried tying a single knot in my small size 1/4 lb rope but that shortened it too much. So I'm feeling a bit stuck. I would like the ability to finely adjust rope length in tiny increments like I do for my PunkRope and other PVC ropes. One really nice surprise of owning Cross Ropes is that families with more than one jump roper can share the handles and just buy the individual ropes in different lengths. I have the size small Get Lean set and one 1/2 lb x-small rope. When my husband wanted to try jumping, I purchased a size large 1/2 lb rope for him and he used my handles - which was WAY cheaper than having to buy another Get Lean set!
@JumpRopeVeteran
@JumpRopeVeteran 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tina, thanks for your continued support. 🙂 I appreciate it. The ability to buy only the attachments is beneficial, especially if you have people sharing the handles. I wish that the ropes were adjustable as well, but I can understand why they're not. JRTF. 🙏🏽💪🏽

I'm around 5'8" and I bought the medium ropes, and I do sometimes feel that they're a smidge too short for me, so I get what you're saying with the Goldilocks feeling. The large ropes would be too long for me.
@JumpRopeVeteran
@JumpRopeVeteran 3 жыл бұрын
It's definitely one of the disadvantages with having few sizes. Knots can solve the problem, but not everyone likes knots.
@amen_ra6926
@amen_ra6926 2 жыл бұрын
That's my main complaint about the CrossRope brand also. Rx SmartGear has 2" increments but lack the quick-release system. The CEO of CrossRope told me on Reddit that their "effective" length is measured between the bearing posts on the handles. So the 102" (8'-6") 1/4# rope I have is actually about 100". When you include the swivel, it's 102". My Rx SmartGear cable is 102" without the handles. Making it an ideal length. I bought a 108" 1/4# CrossRope and thought knotting it would solve the problem. It didn't. They just need to add more increments to address different body types, arm lengths, hand positions, and jumping styles. It can't cost that much to add 2" increments to their fabrication. If I could figure out how they crimp the tips on the cables, I'd do it myself.

This is my rope of choice, I like it a lot, I mainly use the green one, a little bit of disappointment they last around 8 months-12 and I always skip on a mat, I'm still working on my crisscross + running atm and that may be possibly why they wear our that quickly, I skip 4 times x week around 20-25 min each time. Skipping is my favourite exercise by far.

As a girl with less arm/forearm musle, the 1/2 lb rope with the white handle that comes with the set feels too small for the weight rotating on my wrists and I unfortunately don't use it as much as I'd like because of this. (I know I could and maybe at some point will upgrade to the extra 80 dollars fat handles so I can use with the 1/2 pound) Instead I decided to get a buddy Lee aero speed rope and then use the 1/4 lb rope as my 'heavy' rope

10 dollars for a gym membership isn't bad. The time you can possibly save by not having to go to a gym,, Priceless.

Camille, I think it's bad to pay $10 per month for a gym membership if you never use it, which is what many large, big box gyms depend on as their business model. That's the point I was trying to make in the video. I agree with you - the time saved commuting back and forth from the gym is worth it.

Joy, thanks for the support. I'd go with the medium size. If you change your diet and start exercising again, you should be able to correct your fat and cholesterol in no time. JRTF. 💪🏾
