I have the get lean set, the get strong set, the speed LE set and the WOD prep set. The speed LE set is by far the best one. It gives you the weight for an intense workout however the ropes are smaller so you don’t feel overwhelmed. It comes with the 3oz, 6oz and 9oz ropes.

Thank you for sharing this. Very helpful as I feel the same way. I also own the get lean and get strong, which are the 1/4lb 1/2lb 1lb and 2lb. I find them to be an excellent cardio workout. Didn’t care for the app so much and the ropes are very expensive but I do love them for solid cardio workouts. Don’t use the 1-2lb ropes as much. I use the get lean set the most. That’s good for me.? I feel like I threw away money on the get strong set since I rarely use those ropes. Too heavy in my opinion, especially when you just want to jump rope fluently and enjoy it. Again, just my opinion. I know others who love both sets and more so kudos to them. I’m hoping to build up to liking the get strong set since I own it. Work in progress!

I use the 1/2 pound rope (white rope) as a finisher for some more time under tension after my regular shoulder workout while also getting cardio in at the same time. I wouldn't buy a Crossrope to build muscle, but it's definitely great for muscle endurance

Exactly. Rope is for cardio & coordination. Muscle building's easily accomplished by burpees/pushups & especially pullups. Last night I did 100 rope turns/10 burpees/10 pushups/10 BW squats or db lunges/ 7 BW pullups. Work up to 10 rounds, that will fry you nicely. Best wishes.

So I got back into jumping rope a little more than a year ago. I did some research on ropes and discovered Crossrope. First set was the speed set and I fell in love with their product. I get what people say about the cost but I wanted something I felt would hold up I’ve time as most I used in the past didn’t. Now I’m jumping between 4-6 times a week and I use the app workouts for my work that day. My original set looks about as good as when I first purchased them but I’ve always made sure to treat them properly. I’ve never jumped on concrete without the mat protection. Look we all will at some point justify the cost of things we purchase especially when we like the product. I now have 13 different ropes, 3 oz to 5 lbs and six sets of handles. Yes I get it when people say that’s to much to spend but I absolutely love the ropes. Anyway that’s just my thoughts on their ropes.

If you love jump roping these are great. I don't care for the heavy version much but the lean set works great, but it is a lot of money. It comes down to what do you want to do and how much you use it. I only used it once a week and skipped them often so the cost for me is too high. Solid product overall though.

I bought the started set in October. I live in the Pacific Northwest so I've been waiting for warmer weather. It's been rainy and cold here for months. I use this at work during my lunch break when weather permits. I received the mat this morning. I had been using a cheap yoga mat to protect my ropes. I also use Bodylastics resistance bands. They're pricey but I don't have to deal with the gym.

Nice. Yeah even living in Austin, TX I found myself moving away from jump rope even if it is fun for me compared to other forms of cardio. For me, I really just walk my dogs or ride my spin bike with the app to track it right now. From there, I just do resistance training and see how it goes.

Good review (and good jumping)! A few things I'd like to mention: jumping rope with a heavy (= heavier than normal) rope is not supposed to be muscle building. It shifts the focus from a pure cardio exercise to a strength/cardio workout. The reason why you can't adjust the ropes is simple: normally you adjust ropes by shortening the rope as you progress. Since cross ropes are not primarily meant for "tricks" there is much less need to shorten them. And the inside is made of steel so cutting an inch and then re-attaching the handles is just not an option.
@GN-gc7vp
@GN-gc7vp 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, his points about not being able to adjust the ropes made no sense. I'm not growing or shrinking several inches all the time so why would there have to be a feature to adjust the rope? Plus crossrope clearly states height guides when someone is buying ropes, and if they end up getting the wrong size, they can just exchange them lol.
@miked6523
@miked6523 3 жыл бұрын
@@GN-gc7vp Umm...maybe because of their jump form. Some keep their arms wide or narrow, others may have their hands higher or lower than their hips hence making the rope revolution longer or shorter. Make sense now why one may need to adjust the ropes?

A few things: I think the heavier ropes are just good to help with endurance, i don't think they help with strength at all really. After using the 1lb rope as my main rope for a while, I started noticing i can go for longer periods of time with the lighter ropes. These dont need to be adjustable and it has nothing to do with being able to make more money. If someone knows their height they can buy the correct size rope. I bought these as my first jump ropes back in the beginning of June 2020, and I've been using them 3-7 times a week with no mat and they lasted me up until November. I live in the north east and I still go out in 20-30 degree weather to jump. Personally, I think if someone is serious about jump roping these are worth it especially since the open box ropes are like 50% off. Overall, these are mostly for people who do not want to have a ton of equipment, these are for people who want to make jump roping the focus of their workouts while doing body weight exercises to lose weight and get a decent physique.

Totally agree with you. I started jumping a little over six months ago and bought the Get Lean and Get Strong sets and the JRD mat. I do jump at least three times per week and usually with the 1/2lb and 1lb ropes. I do not like the app, because there is no music with it. But there are many people out there creating free jump rope content with workouts and awesome music. I made jumping the focus of my workouts, because of an injury and, even though I do train with kettle bells when I can, I needed some equipment that I could travel with. True, you will not gain muscle if all you do is jump, but you will not lose any either. If you are looking to have an athletic physique, jumping rope combined with basic body weight exercises will be perfect for you. 🤙

The criticism regarding heavy ropes (1lb pound and more) is justified. I've never been comfortable going above 1 1/4 lb; 1 1/2 is my limit. I tried the TripleX rope (3lb) but was never able to do more than 60 or 80 jumps consecutively. Nevertheless CrossRope ropes are by far the best jump rope equipment you can get.
@GamerBody

I agree the ropes are great, but not worth $100+ for it. If someone is interested in them and has a lot of extra cash they can spend it, but I'd put that money towards an item that can produce better results (in both the muscle building and cardio departments).

I have the get lean and the heavy set. The thing with the heavy set: I managed to get stiff muscles and I had to pause a day but overall it’s to exhausting to build muscle. When you get exhausted you loose your posture and trip a lot. Maybe it’s good to keep muscle mass. But now an then I like the challenge of the heavy ropes. I am used to the 1 LB rope because the white one was too easy at one point. I would recommend some body weight exercise to gain a healthy mass otherwise go to the gym. Also I like the Heavy handles more because of big hands. Hope I could help. Greetings.

I actually started jumping rope too fast and too often, directly on concrete, and my ankles got bruised pretty badly. It felt like a sprain even though I didn't actually sprain anything. You don't necessarily need a mat if you have an alternative to jump on a soft floor like wood, but the mat does make a difference if you're using it vs jumping straight on concrete. @@GamerBody unfortunately for some; your best was far from reasonable. You insist on an optional mat that sells for $100 yet find the price of handles with a lifetime guarantee and two weighted ropes for $90 to be blasphemy. Really? You insist that someone must first figure out if this is an exercise they will enjoy by using a cheap product. Does that make sense? You state that jumping with these doesn’t compare to anything you’ve used prior. If you have 60 day window to see if an exercise is enjoyable I wouldn’t say spending $7 on Amazon nylon and foam will do for anyone. But $100 mat oh that’s fair! Why?! Let’s look at actual information: ‘Proprietary coating allows for safe and durable jumping on any surface’ ‘Tangle free design minimizes trip-ups’ ANY SURFACE? Concrete?! So I can try out my ropes on my hardwood floors with no damage? Garage? Yes. They will still be returned and they won’t be damaged. I don’t care if it’s shoelaces or some hoodie string from the laundry or headphone cables. You do not even mention it is practically impossible to have these tangle. They won’t kink or maintain a weird storage shape. It’s galvanized steel cable that is extremely well coated. The steel helps each jumping arc consistent; I do not think you realize that spending $45 will not give you have the experience spending $90 will. Not a fraction. If there is any weight there will only be silly weighted handles and not weight dispersed evenly over the length of the rope to make all two pounds feel too weird to see results. The mat is made of PVC formulation and polyester! $100?! It’s a great mat for jumping on...but with THESE ropes it’s optional and a PVC mat is a PVC mat to a certain extent. Real advice if curious: look at a consensus of reviews (not on KZbin) from reliable sources. Order a set and NO MAT. Try them for 50 days and return if it’s not clicking with you. Why no mat? Instead of coming in a box the size of an iPad it’s a 7lb rubber disc that’s much less convenient to return. Ropes: Bargain Mat unnecessary. If you would like a mat for jumping rope. $35. I assure you that you are extremely wrong on the get strong set not contributing to lean muscle gain. You explain that you never became comfortable with ‘swinging a 2 lb rope over your head’ so it makes me wonder (that and watching you) how you would possibly know what 3 min sets with the 2lb rope can do.
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 3 жыл бұрын
Wow rubbed someone the wrong way. It's too expensive, not a muscle building exercise, ropes are quality if you don't mind spending a lot for a jump rope. Mat is fine but also bulky and expensive. If you really like jump rope exercises go for it, I'm not stopping you. I bought it without the mat and used it for a long time without it. It held up just fine but I decided to use the mat for testing. Still feels fine but the price tag is extremely high. And no, the get strong set does not build muscle if you normally do resistance training. If you sit all day doing nothing you may get a small amount of muscle, but that will be it in the end. Not of my opinions are from KZbin, all of it is me using it and trying it I'm my workouts. Thanks for the long form comment though ;)
@ryanlewiz
@ryanlewiz 3 жыл бұрын
@@GamerBody no no it’s on me. I rubbed you the wrong way because I was very clear in my comment I have owned both sets for many years....every point I made was ignored, much like your inability to conclude you can’t build strength from a rope you clearly hardly used. The half pound rope is your favorite for a reason, it is the easiest to control. Strength training exercises are a superior foundation for gains but your wrong that you can’t gain strength AND muscle. You said you ‘felt too weird’ having a 2lb rope swing over your head. Stop with being so defensive and ask....what if suddenly it became less weird? It isn’t weird for me. It was initially. I enjoy engaging in what I find challenging; that was minutes at a time with the rope I found uncomfortable. You enjoy what feels comfortable. Clearly if you are living a sedentary lifestyle your focus should be going for a walk. Regarding definition and mass; there is nothing the average person needs to get into the shape you were/are in. I can confidently say that proper form with the heavier ropes comes with time. Unlike running or dumbbell exercises (great options I’m a fan of) your jumping form will acclimate itself with the 2lb rope. I see you jumping with it; I remember when I began and the gains it still contributes to supportive musculature. Also I had no interest in giving you advice. I never said YOU get your info from KZbin. I said your arguments are obviously not very rational. I said ANYONE CONSIDERING a purchase would do themselves a favor by listening to customers from sources outside of youtube. You clearly tested the product. The product tested you and you didn’t enjoy being challenged. It was a waste of money....for you. ‘Finally, an honest review’ was your lead comment man. I thoroughly understand where this individual is coming from. Impartial reviews are very difficult to find online. In the world of home fitness the amount of sponsored bullshit from half assed ‘influencers’ or people who are motivated by even the smallest monetization (such S youths elf) are everywhere. The 5 best water bottles, adjustable dumbbells, etc. I get it. I didn’t mean to use YOUR real estate to give an opinion from someone who had used the sets far more for far longer. Unfortunately I don’t feel motivated to make my own video. Everything I stated is factual. Try then for free? You’ll know in 60 days if they should be returned. Crossrope is a company you don’t see purchasing reviews across the web and print media (Men’s Health). There is a valuable place for people who enjoy products they can’t afford being mad at themselves. The company itself has shown over the years that they are that petty or desperate...so the resentment he/she feels is entirely legitimate... I simply wanted to state that a company that doesn’t spam the world buying positive reviews deserves an alternative, but not necessarily better perspective. Negativity does not necessarily imply accuracy. If you see a price and a rope and even CONSIDER the purchase.....what the Fuck is wrong with you? You liked almost everything about them! They should cost less?! What would you change about the rope with handles you bought to justify the cost!? Are your handles clicking? Write them! New handles in a few days. Warranty expired? They handles are backed for life and if your ropes are actually having an issue I’m sure they would make an exception to their standard policy. Buying an expensive product that you really enjoy and then suggesting it’s ‘too expensive’ is asinine. WHAT alternative would you suggest? That would help people. I suggested DON’T PAY $100 for a mat the website says you DO NOT need to protect your floor or your body. See that is helpful. Mat unnecessary. Website says = mat unnecessary to protect floors. THAT is a bold claim...and in my experience with hardwood a quality you’ll never have to concern yourself with = 100% fact.

Not necessary to have and no, it will build not muscle. You may see slight changes here and there, but it will end very quickly. Most of the results will come from loss of body fat making the muscles look more defined (if in a calorie deficit as well).

@@GamerBody it certainly builds muscle for me. I use a 2.2lb heavy jumprope and mix it with press ups burpees squats and do rounds on the heavy punch bag mixing it all together for about an hour 5 times a week and been doing this for years and it's certainly maintained muscle mass. If I drop off the training for one reason or another I can see muscle mass dropping but after 3 or 4 workouts can notice and certainly feel the difference and I'm speaking from personal experience, I suppose it's what you want from your workout and if I only could choose one piece of equipment to workout with it would be the heavy jumprope as it's got everything, it builds strength, stamina, muscle and literally nearly every muscle in your body and literally still burns calories hours after your workout so if you've got that and your own bodyweight that's a whole gym right there.😘💪💪💪💪
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 2 жыл бұрын
@@theboxfitchannel4305 While I commend the response, it is incorrect on just about all accounts. While you may get a sliver of muscle from a heavier rope, it won't be much at all. Almost everything you are doing, including burpees and punching bag are cardiovascular and aerobic in nature, not muscle building. You can improve your heart health, but it won't build meaningful muscle mass. The squats, if done appropriately, are the only exercise you mentioned that will. You can burn calories making you leaner and potentially look more muscular, but really you are just burning body fat and revealing the muscle you have already. If your goal is to just be lean, then what you are doing is fine. If you want to put on muscle, do less workouts per week but with higher intensity by doing exercises that keep constant tension on the muscle close (or to) failure, get protein and nutrients to recover, and get a lot of sleep. Also, you won't lose muscle in 3-4 missed workouts (unless it was weeks between each one). You might feel flat, but that is just glycogen and water depletion based on activity and diet. It takes about 2-3 weeks of no workouts or activity to lose muscle mass, or be in a massive calorie deficit so your body must burn muscle for energy.

@@GamerBody thank you for the fast response. I am not sure if I will order from aliexpress - 50 euro is still a lot of money if the handle brake the 50 end up in the bin. When you ordered the original set did you wait a long time to arrive at your destination?

Now it came over quickly, but I bought it before shipping issues in the US started so not sure what it looks like right now.

I've read all the comments and replies, watched how you jumped with the 2lb rope and I'd like to share a bit of knowledge with you. You will build muscle if you commit and spin that rope hard. If you play with it as you did in this video, and stare at the ground with bad jump rope form, you will get the impression you got. Use good form and work hard, you will be blown away by what these ropes can do for you. I'm a 47yr old ex royal navy PTI and I am a 7 year user of these ropes and many of the other Crossropes. You will get ripped if you commit and go at it as you should when working out. You don't commit, your looking for excuses from the start and your form is terrible. Try again and see what you think. Slightly disappointed you didn't do your research into form and how you actually jump rope. You're giving false information which doesn't look good.

Thanks for the advice. Regardless of the form I used, you will not build noticeable muscle even with the 2lb ropes. Eventually, you might as it gets really, really heavy, but then you get into potential injury risk territory as form will certainly break down, or the rope itself will be impossible to actually jump rope with. I'm not against jump roping. If you want to do it, do it. It is a great form of cardio. Might be tough on an individual's knees and ankles, but as a form of cardio, it is good. I am against the claim it will build a lot of muscle. The term "ripped" is more about cutting down body fat to reveal the muscle you have underneath. The ropes will have you burn some calories, but the muscle-building will be very small and limited, no matter how hard/fast you use them. If you want to add jump roping to a resistance training workout, that can work well. I don't plan on adding jump rope back any time soon, but if I do, I will make sure to continue improving my form.

Right, and that's the cheapest one...I did see a limited edition "trick" style rope for $20 but I can't find it anymore. Good quality overall, just so expensive.

@@GamerBody maybe it was just a weird camera angle but it looked like your ankle goes to much inward and that would fuck up your knees by time 😄
