Jun is awesome. I grew up on 80s new wave and synth wave. Jun reminds me of a Japanese Bjork mixed with Cyndi Lauper. She's so cool. Ymo is freaking AWESOME!!! I absolutely adore YMO sooooooo much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Have you ever given Doji Morita a listen? They're totally different from Togawa Jun but equally amazing. It's so hard to get their music in the US but worth it.

No, I don’t know this artist. I’ll keep my ears and eyes for this artist. Thanks!

I discovered this artist mere months ago upon hearing her on the rare 8cm cd-single by the artist Coba, titled “Techno Cabaret Theme”, from 1999 (It does exist here on KZbin). I’ve since obtained some of her solo albums as well as a the Guernica album you featured and some Yapoos stuff. I’d love to obtain the 9 disc “Works” box set of her work released in in 2009 however I haven’t been able to find a used copy for less than $600+. It’s exciting how the discovery of one artist has opened my eyes to so many others. She’s fantastic.

Japan's Kate Bush. My introduction to Japanese music was Tomoyasu Hotei (nothing to do with Battle Without Honor or Humanity in Kill Bill, I knew of him well before that).

Very good job analyzing Jun Togawa's work, also I would like to point out a couple of Guernica songs that are made in Tango style and also her solo work has songs with Sudamerican sounds from the Andes. You need to listen her band "Yapoos" work too.

Jun Togawa is a huge canvas. And I haven't yet heard her new album or the one she released last year. And the same goes for Yapoos. She's an amazing artist. Thank you for your comments here Nomi!

I was trying to explain Togawa to a friend yesterday, Nina Hagen was the only artist I could think of to compare her with. :)

@@vivianfreelandmusic Both are unique right? It's very difficult to place Towaga in a singular context.
