The "star attraction" here is actually the guitar player. This is her band. She always surrounds herself with the best musicians. Her name is Rie AKA Suzuka. Rie has a significant history in Japanese music with her first album being released in 2010. She is a true musician capable of playing about any instrument, On guitar, she has flawless technique, although she composes songs on keyboard. She exclusively uses Jackson guitars. Her background is in metal and there is usually some metal influences in her music. Live, there is a lot of soloing for each musician to showcase their talents. The keyboard player and Kanade are pretty much constant fixtures in her group with a series of bass players moving in and out, with Juna being one of them.

She’s not the star attraction. This is her band, of course, but the star attraction is the talent of Kanade. Don’t get it twisted!! The guitar player never win best guitarist. Sato did.

not for me, I am more interested in Kanade Sato than the guitarist to be honest

Wow, smooth Jazz fusion circa 1980's. Smoky Jazz bar atmosphere but really awesome musicians. Sato is just sensational as usual but love the keyboardist playing in bare feet??. Could listen to this and Loreena McKennitt all day long. Wave once again proves he loves all genres of good music.

Glad you got to check them out. They are a group formed in 2022. If you a fan of fusion you'll love them. I have their cd as well as "Top Runner", "World Journey" and "World Journey 2", all great instrumental cds in this genre. Kanade Sato I believe is Rie a.k.a. Suzaku's most used drummer since.

This is Jazz Fusion, it was originated in the 60’s, Chick Corea with Return to Forever, Weather Report, Miles Davis “Bitches Brew” and so on, but these girls are having a good run at that sound, and they all are very accomplished musicians, especially Kanade and Juna! Yes they are an actual band and they have 2 albums out now, and there are great!

The original is from Lee Ritenour's album by the same name, released 1979. A jazzier, funkier complement to what Pat Methany was putting out at about the same time. This, to me, has a David Benoit vibe. If memory serves, Kanade spearheaded this group in order to explore the jazz fusion repertory. The lineup is spot-on!

Lee Ritenour was among a group of several top players of the Jazz-Fusion wave of the '80s. Lots of albums; good stuff. These kids are certainly doing it justice!

Yes, they are an actual band and have released a self-titled album last year. I got a physical release of it but I don't listen to it that often, it has a bit of an 80's flair to it that I am not the biggest fan of, but all in all it's really well done and the tracks are fun to watch live. The keyboard player is Marie Fukai, I don't know if she has other projects like the other 3 do. I like Rie a.k.a. Suzaku, I have watched plenty of concerts by her (streamed) as Muses and her solo project where she plays with different musicians ("girls guitar" and "Instrumental Summit"), my only gripe with her playing is that she can sometimes lose the rhythm a little bit when she does more complex Fusion rhythms live (like in this band). That said, she is a very good guitar player overall and I always enjoy watching her live stuff. Btw, Kanade Sato also just released a new single with her first Fusion band (which she was in when she was 13 or 14 or so). The band is called "Ear Candy Jazz Factory", you can find it on the "key Rei jazz" channel, which is the channel of the keyboardist (and I think main composer) of that band. Rie a.k.a. Suzaku and Marie Fukai recently played with the drummer and bassist from Casiopea (a somewhat legendary Japanese Fusion band from what I understand) in one of Rie's instrumental Summit concerts and it was a lot of fun. They also posted a video of that one on Rie's label's channel "PoppinRecords". The current keyboard player of Casiopea (Kiyomi Otaka) is half of one of Senri Kawaguchi's bands called Kiyo*Sen. I believe you have reacted to one of their tracks on a livestream. Btw, fun fact, both Kanade Sato and Senri Kawaguchi have played on Rie's solo albums and have performed with her live (Kanade Sato still does) and Rie's solo albums are basically metal or hard rock albums. As you can see, that whole scene is very well connected and they do projects with each other or play with each other regularly. The same goes for all of The Jazz Avengers + almost every musician Juna Serita is involved with nowadays.

Juna is constantly busy as is Senri Kawaguchi.

Marie the keyboardist seems to be the one constant in RIe's may iterations of her collaboraters. I have been watching her videos for about 5 years now. She used to do these live Ladies Night digests where she had may players rotate through the mebership. They did originals and some great covers. Some of the glittering talent she had join her were Senri Kuwagachi, Kanade Sato (drums), Juna Serita, Rina Hoshino, Kiyoshi (bass) and the ever constant Marie on keys. Rie and this lineup seen here i.e. Muses have a live twitcast this Sunday "Muses Cover Songs Live" for which I have purchased a ticket (as I have for her previous live streams)

Actually, Rie's name is pronounced something like 'Dee' or 'Diah'; Kanade is 'Kahn-ah-day', Juna is as it sounds, as is Marie. A friend of theirs, Senri Kawaguchi's first name is pronounced 'Sendi', etc., at least in Japan. Senri explained to me that it has something to do with the letter 'r' not being used as often, or in the same way, in Japan.

Rie has been doing Fusion for awhile, Tamu is with her in some of the club vids on her channel Poppin records and as others say lots of sit in guests, really neat to watch her older stuff as a straight hard rock virtuoso too, Rie a.k.a.Suzaku is a great guitarist hopefully you check out more of her stuff Wave! Also is a nice person that interacts on sm😊

Don't underestimate Rie Suzaku. She is a brilliant soloist. You didn't hear that well in this tune. And she is a excellent composer. Listen "Grand Circle* (Studio rec.) or "Ko mo re bi" which is composed by her. I don't know many guitarists who love music and theres guitar so much as she does.. Compared to her, western musicians can go home to mama.

Saw them live in 2019 before they called themselves "Muses". Rie aka Suzaku is the oldest of the bunch and an established star. Juna is also well established and has even put out some solo EPs. Stupid level of talent in Japan.

I'd rather listen to japanese ladies rather than usa garage/garbage bands who think louder us better and you have to scream lyrics because you can't carry a tune in a bucket.

You should here the original. Lee Ritenour who known as one the best jazz guitarist of the period. They coupled with world renown Steve Gadd on drums will blow you away !!!!!! This is cool but no match to the original.
