1. He doesn’t feel as much a connection to the name anymore. It all came from a dumb joke when he was still in HS over 2 decades ago and it held connotations with his time in AH, which he’s always wanted to move past. 2. With the recent events in the US he doesn’t want his name to be culturally insensitive to viewers. He’s also been wanting to change to his name, but twitch won’t allow Twitch.tv/ray (it has to be a minimum amount of letters, more than 3) at least, so this is the next best thing. 3. Business-wise, RayNarváezJr is a lot better when it comes to good optics and is easier for merchandising/marketing for stuff like FrameRate Merch.
