Hello Kathi, thank you so much for the video. It is always interesting to hear your opinions on books. Shame you had to record the video twice 😢 I also watched the Three Pines series, and wished it was more faithful to the books. The turn of the screw is my first Henry James. I also have ‘What Maisie knew’, by Henry James, but I haven’t read it yet. Thanks again for the great video. I love your jumper! ❤

I hope you enjoyed the video and I appreciate your watching. ❤️ I don't know What Maisie Knew. I'll look into it. Thank you for the compliment on my chocolate box jumper. 😂

Holy cow, a plethora of books!! You are a machine A good mix too, I've always been curious about the Lemony Snicket books, hmmm, maybe.....?

I'll admit I have been reading a lot lately but it's winter here so perfect reading time. Oh I'd like to see what you think of the Snicket books.

Glad you're finally feeling better! I enjoy the Craig Johnson mysteries and find that the Cork O'Connor series by William Kent Krueger are in the same vein if you're interested in trying something new. In June, my best read was The Street Lawyer by John Grisham and the worst was Practical Magic by Hoffman. I also thoroughly enjoyed 3 of the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. They are post apocalyptic urban fantasy, filled with ridiculous creatures and monsters, magic and a bit of funny banter. They're great escapist reads. Your sweater is beautiful! Did you make it?

Thank you very much. I will have to try Krueger, thank you for the recommendation. I really dislike Grisham's books though I haven't read any in years. I have Practical Magic in my TBR. Now I'm interested to see if I will like it. Yes I knit all my jumpers, thank you for the kind compliment. 😊

@NerdyKathi For me, the Hoffman book had too much romance and was too long for a stereotypical story about a wild sister vs a good sister. Your thoughts on it will be interesting! Grisham has so many books and some are much better than others! My favorites so far are A Time To Kill and The Testament. Painted House was way too sad. The Street Lawyer was not one of the best of his, just the best of what I read in June 🙂. I'd love to see more of your jumpers in detail. Do some of your past videos highlight your knitting?

I loved the film which is why I bought the book. Of the Grisham books I’ve read I agree A Time to Kill was the best but he really isn’t for me. Thank you for the lovely compliment on my jumpers. Most of what I wear in my videos are mine though I know you can’t see all the detail. I’ve shown some of my knits in a video I have on knitting.

A bunch of thoughts: A number of my friends and relatives live back East - they would be listening to your weather and thinking "how wonderful!". It's very hot and humid back there, much worse than usual. (Of course, when winter starts, they'll be envying your "lovely heat..." Next - Daisy Dalrymple - agreed. The one season of "Three Pines" - I liked it, mostly because the actor playing Inspector Gamache is exactly how I pictured him. Check out Jacqueline Winspear's latest book, The Comfort of Ghosts. It's the last book of her series (the end of the series). I thought the rest of the series was uneven but this end is very satisfying. You Tube here in California has been re-running the original 20 seasons of Time Team - a group of English Archeologists doing 3-day digs around the UK. It's long gone, but a lot of fun. (there's a new version that I don't enjoy). That's enough.

We certainly wouldn't mind some warmth. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like Daisy Dalrymple. I finished Three Pines and am sad it won't be continued. Molina was perfect as Gamache. I DNF'd the first Maisie Dobbs book and don't believe I'll be going back, no matter how good the end might be. I suspect Winspear isn't an author for me. I don't know Team Time. I'll have to look into it. Thank you Julie for taking the time to comment. 🥰

It is a weird one that final Snicket book. Adapted very interestingly in the Netflix show.

Hmm, I wasn't intending to watch the show but who knows, that might change. Thank you for the suggestion.

@@NerdyKathi yeah, whilst still odd, the ending in the show feels more satisfying as they add in a few bits from ancillary books that I haven't read yet.

How can I send you all the heat? We have had many weeks of temperatures over 40 degrees. You are free to take 30! 😂

Oh you poor thing, but no I won't take 30C that is too much. 😂 I'll take 20C thanks!

I really hated The Turn of the Screw! If you want to read a classic, try some classic children's fiction like Treasure Island, Anne of Green Gables, something interesting, fun. I haven't read a lot of these either. But I know it would be enlightening because most of the stories have been adapted to screen. The books have some differences. Hope you feel better soon.

I've read Anne of Green Gables when I was young and whilst I like children's classics some of them don't work as well for me now that I'm an adult. Thank you Joyce I am feeling better. 😊

I like to read cozy mysteries, too. But my favorite book in June is a classic, O Pioneers! by Willa Cather. I think both of the protagonists are well portraited and affecting. My least favored is Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. None of the characters in the book is appealing.
@NerdyKathi5 ай бұрын
I looked up Cather, she sounds interesting. Gaiman doesn't appeal to everyone. I've only read one of his myself. Thank you for sharing Barbara.
