This Savage Song was as close to an original idea as you can get! Beautiful writing as always from Schwab and the way she incorporates the monsters into the world and what they are MY GOODNESS it's clever - definitely pick it up soon, I need people to discuss the wonder of that book with!

Oh my goodness, I love A Separate Peace! It's probably my favorite classic, it changed me so much as a person...

yeeees, I loved loved loved a separate peace. it has this enthralling atmosphere that I can't really fully explain, and I am so happy that booktubers are reading it, because more people should know about this book. it touches on such important topics as friendship, innocence, guilt and war, and it's got some unreliable characters. anyway, hope you enjoy it as well Jesse

Their Eyes Were Watching God was such a trip! So in high school when we had to read it, we had a project at the end. My friend chose to put songs along with the characters, and now whenever I hear At Last by Etta James, I think of that darn book .

I had to read both of those classics for school. A Separate Peace has always made me think of Dead Poets Society (DPS is definitely better IMO tho), but it's been 8 years since I've read it so I don't remember everything about it at this point. And I enjoyed Their Eyes Were Watching God. Not something I'd pick up on my own, but it was one of the better books I've had to read for school. If you're curious to pick up other classics after you read these, some other 20th century classics that I love are: -And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie (reads as easily as a modern book, with a really interesting mystery. Her other books are awesome as well.) -Brave New World by Aldous Huxley (Really interesting early dystopian novel) -1984 (Another early dystopia. It's a toss-up as to which of the two is better) IDK if you've already had to read those for class or anything, but if you haven't, they're worth a read.

Fun fact about Queen of Hearts: I met Colleen at BookCon, and she told me that she was interested in telling a story about why someone could become so mean, and she decided love was the only answer. And she and her husband were going through a period of infertility so she poured all of her anger with that into the book.
