June Container Garden Tour

Guttation is the exudation of drops of xylem and phloem sap on the tips or edges of leaves of some vascular plants, such as grasses, and also a number of fungi. Ancient Latin gutta means "a drop of fluid", whence modern botany formed the word guttation to designate that a plant exudes drops of fluid onto the outer surface of the plant, when the source of the fluid is inside the plant. Guttation happens in a variety of plant species.

Your containers are very creative and beautiful! It's amazing how some plants that prefer cooler temps can do fine in the heat if they are given enough water and a little shade in the hottest part of the day. I trimmed back my dianthus that are in a container a few weeks ago, and now they have a new flush of flowers.

I’m passing along a time saver tip I saw on another channel. Get a cheap kiddie pool and place all your small pots inside it. That way you water the plants all in one go and they do better when watered from the roots up.

Thanks for sharing your container garden with us. It was beautiful. I’m trying to get more containers in my own garden. I’m getting up in age and it’s hard to get down there and pull out those weeds and take care of everything so I’m trying harder and harder to put more and more containers in my garden and plant so close and tight together that the weeds don’t have a chance.

Beautiful looking containers of flowers, veg and fruit, they are the bees knees. We have a small front garden with four flowerbeds, fifty two containers of perennial flowers and six containers of annual flowers on the front windowsills. We water everything with watering cans to conserve our rain barrels for really dry weather. We live in Ireland and it has been a rainy summer so far, last Saturday was the first time we watered the flowerbeds, we have been watering the containers twice a week.

Southern California and we have the same problem super hot now and I think I’m going to do now is going to be in containers that way I can make sure it gets enough water and I can move them to where they get more shade if they needed or I can pick them up and put them in into a more sunny areathanks so much for all your awesome tips

I did not remove the worms. They are only obvious when it has standing water and they are not a problem. So no need to remove.
