Great video Joey! I appreciate how you view the Jimmy Red as a victory because of the Avipel working even though the deer ate it up. I liked seeing Elliot and his boat. I always heard the 2 happiest days of a man's life are the day he buys a boat and the day he sells it! Lol God Bless!

I never had ground hog problems either until recently. I had a whole family of them living under my barn. It took me over 4 weeks to dispose of them.

We stored our potatoes under our house all my early days on the farm, my Grand parents did it in the 1920s. That polished plow share is traditionally a sign of a good farmer, never let another farmer see your rusty plow. Man I don’t know what Groundhog taste like, they are not prevalent down here in SW Louisiana, I bet they good in a stew or a jambalaya. That’s a nice boat. Definitely check it out before you drive 30 minutes, only to find out boat motor won’t run.

Joe I hate to see you give up on that corn, it is a beautiful stand of corn and you are more than halfway there! In my experience the deer will lose interest, and it will recover. The deer will be back to eat the silk but in the end that doesnt usually affect the harvest. The silk is only important for a very short time immediately after tasseling when the pollen is dropping down onto the silk. After that they can eat as much as they want!

I understand completely. Only had a small patch of sweet corn, and the rabbits ate all but 1 stalk before 12" tall. The armadillos tore up my okra patch. Now the squirrels are eating my small pears. Don't want to scare you, but the raccoons will be there for the watermelons at harvest time, too, if it's like it is here.

Joe, my papaw and dad always used lime on the taters when they stored them. Might even help with rodents too I'm not sure. A man can always go back and find the hidden taters LOL I enjoy your videos! Take care

I'm up on the zone 6/5 boarder and last fall I left sweet potatoes, planted my rye grain, and the sweet potatoes survived the northern frost! They are happily running up the rye stalks in a vertical farm. I'm working around them to see what they do through the season with neglect but it's kind of interesting to see them survive and now thrive. I had planted several different varieties and these may be some of those Japanese purple ones or could be more standard orange types. Two years ago I had gotten all the types I could find at several supermarkets to do a land race.

Groundhogs are my biggest problem in Arkansas, my best defenses far has been an electric wire about 2-3 inches off of the ground, if you’ve got one it won’t be long until you have plenty more ! Good luck, love the channel

Next year plant a very large food plot for the deer . Mix some field corn in the mix . That just might keep the deer away from the jimmy red . I had to finch a spot me hind the chicken house because of the deer . It only takes two deer .

Ventilate Mr Groundhog. He’s not going anywhere as long as he’s got plenty to eat. I love the wild life around me, but when they are eating my vegetables they have to go. I keep two fields planted in clover, wheat, peas and corn for them. They gotta stay out of the gardens or else.

A ground hog can just ruin a garden in no time at all. I use a trap also the only problem with using a trap is you stand the chance of catching a skunk. That could get you in a stinky situation lol

Woodchucks and rabbits run on alternating cycles. You can live trap woodchucks but most effective is locate their bunker, run a hose from the exhaust of a poorly running vehicle down the hole. Find the exit escape hatch and cover it up. Run the bunker full and cover the entrance. Recheck for dig outs a day later but you won't. We used to grow and retail pumpkins; woodchucks had a habit of taking two or three bites out of dozens of pumpkins so we couldn't sell them.
