If you are struggling to update during the month with mundane things, I wonder if you've considered doing an "Everything I did this month instead of shopping" where you go through all your wins and the books you finished and where you're at in your crochet projects etc. I'd be interested to see what you got up to!!

The reflection you did about your parents and grandparents hit me, their decisions even made more than 60 years ago, allowed me to be in the privilege situation I'm right now. I'm so excited to have finished the first six months of the no/low buy year. I'm not doing it precisely for money reasons but to learn to cope with emotions and stop dreaming of being my ideal self (through buying things) and start acting like it (by using what I have, mostly craft things). I haven't feel the urge to buy, instead panning products it's been a fun game. I think is key to occupy the time wisely, many times we ended up scrolling because we feel overwhelmed about not knowing what to do, either because we have too many things we want to, or the lack of a structure (schedule, triggers to act) to know what to do and when do it. Finally I want to remind everybody that even if you "failed" you already accomplished something by reflecting and understand why you did it. A 1% of success is better none.

Yes! Thank you for this reminder! I'm also trying to use what I have. I'm not on a no buy, but I am on a low buy a d it is helping tremendously!

I don’t mind you talking about the „mundane“ things like if you ordered food or not, because it’s these little day to day expenses that add up and which are easier to avoid if thought about

Thank you for the 6 month reminder! I have to do a major reset because I lost my job and still waiting to hear about unemployment. Thanks to my low buy year I was able to pay my bills a month ahead. I am still a little stressed about August bills, but know I will make the most of what I do have. Just have to really think before I spend money. Thank you so much for reminding us why we are doing this and helping us stay strong.

I can totally relate to the "not having any 'normal' months" thing, things always seem to go wrong/off track once or twice 😅

I am going to recommend getting an extra battery. I sell vintage on Etsy and was constantly running out of camera battery when I was trying to take product photos. Now I keep one charging and one in the camera. Game changer.

i was planning on doing a fully committed no buy year for the whole year of 2024 when you were posting about it and even before that, that ambition accidentally led me to rebounding in my shopping addiction x10. in july and i will definitely and have already started to actually join you for this time to pay off my debt, save for future goals, consume less and reground myself. thank you grace! it’s so nice to finally see a youtube channel i can relate to with someone close in age to me!

The wild pods have a fair bit left in them when they "run out". I remove the base of the pod and then just scrape the left over and use it like that until its all gone. I usually get about another week out of it :-).

My husband and I are planning to move from Florida to Utah in June 2025 (we want to live in the mountains where it's less hot). We're trying to save as much as possible before the move and your videos always inspire me. Thank youuuu!

Hey Grace! Great video! I also relate to you on the having no friends where you are thing as I graduated during covid ('21 grad who was supposed to graduate in '22 so really only knew people for 9 months excluding breaks before covid) so we just all went our separate ways and pretty much the last relationship from that time has faded too. I am living at home and have recently kind of had a falling out with my last friend from high school too so it is definitely hard haha but at least I get to save a good chunk of money for when I move out haha. I definitely need to get into the low buy year state of mind lol as so far this has been a very heavy spending year HAHA

ugh I soooo understand!! I also graduated college in 2021 so making new friends since then has been hard, but going out and doing kpop dance classes has helped me meet some new people! maybe you can find a class or activity in your community that you can meet new people that share similar interests! 💗

So excited for you that your besties are moving there!!! I only have one local friend and my other friends (only a handful) live scattered across the country (albeit a small country 😄🇬🇧) but it’s still a trek to see them and requires planning.

Whack a mole is right!! Technically I only made one red light purchase this month. But A LOT of yellow light. And stuff keeps coming up like you said. My cat is still going through health issues and I have multiple vet visit the last few months and expensive prescription food and medication. Which I’m not complaining about spending that money on her, because I’m going to take care of her. But I just didn’t expect something like this to happen. And also my skin has gone berserk. Face, chest, and back. My red light list items I bought were *new* skincare and hair care products because I am trying to figure out how to clear the breakouts and see what I’m sensitive too all at the same time. It’s just frustrating. I’m not going to put up with horrible skin to save that money or bc of a no buy rule. Ugh.

I totally get that as someone who has suffered through skin issues a LOT in the past. best suggestion is to strip everything back and add things back slowly! (food, skincare, etc) best of luck!

No Buy is worth a try, but for me it makes me hyper focused on stuff. When I have permission to buy anything it's easier to buy nothing. When I give myself no permission I obsess over every item I see. Practicing Minimalist family for seven years so JMO. I'll be interested to hear what you think.

I don't have many tbh! I use an aveeno oat cleanser, jojoba oil + vitamin E oil for moisturizer, and the beauty of joseon sunstick for spf. in terms of makeup I use mascara and lip balm mostly tbh! I have one eyeshadow palette, some concealer, and an old lipstick I use for blush :)

I get paid once a month (university faculty - seems to be the only place that’s legal!). So I watch this every month and think - I’m going to track every dollar this month. That lasts about a week 😢😮

Start with just logging your bills for the month, not all the extras. I did that and it put a halt in my step! The amount of mo ey I had to pay in needs, helped me say no to wants more.
