I am so in love with June’s music and video narratives. I’m getting a major metaphor for depression from this one so here’s my breakdown of the video (which literally no one asked for) from the perspective of someone with depression: Inner Jeppe has become separate from himself as he isn’t ready to face the world yet. Outer Jeppe is trying to do things that seem normal like eating/drinking and playing with poker chips, but it comes across as weird and excessive. Lau and Celine start to notice that he’s not right as Outer Jeppe just grins like there’s nothing wrong. The poker chip wakes up Inner Jeppe and he tries to take care of himself by doing the things on his list, but he can’t. Outer Jeppe is the one in control but his concept of reality and how to act is way off so does things wrong, even the things he’s good at. The party seems to bring a bit of normalcy to Outer Jeppe and the others are fooled into thinking he’s okay, or are just trying to accept how this new Jeppe is. Inner Jeppe is frustrated that his friends can’t see that it’s an act and he’s struggling inside. He manages to use this to break through and regain control even if it means showing everyone that he’s unhappy. Alternative theory: alien mind control rock. Interestingly the rock that is the catalyst for all of this is the same one from Something to Lose, and has an eye on it, which is a continuous icon for Jeppe running back to the eyes on the othello board in his head in A Little Messed up.

He probably has some type of personality disorder so he could find himself stuck behind a piece of glass trying to brake free or hidden within a deck of cards waiting to be picked out by the other two. A single chip, for me anyways feels to small for what looks to be building up into a major storyline.
