I always feel so much better knowing that The Big C is with you all to make you three handsome adventurers stop and eat well along the way.. And that Dan the Man, of course, will continue to provide caution and wit in the midst of any danger and Matt to provide his brilliant intellect and vast knowledge on the terrain. And I was not paid nor compensated for making this comment.

Thanks for putting in perspective how incredible this place is. I grew up here as a kid, now taking its beauty for granted. Watching this through your eyes was kind of humbling putting things back into perspective. Great edit, keep aan butchering the words! Wow, you made that look easy! The glaciers that flow down the valley below the Jungfrau are indeed enormous. 2 years ago I joined the groups that hike down the glacier, staying 1 night at the Konkordia hutte on the way. We hiked quickly for maybe 8 hours on the glacier and still managed to only cross maybe 2/3 of it. When you are out on it, it just seems to go on and on. Below the Konkordia hut it is supposed to be 900 metres thick (about 3,000 feet) as I recall.
@nvsv_wintersport2 жыл бұрын
When I was at Konkordia they had just build the new metal staircase, but had already had to put in a normal ladder to get to the staircase. The ice was melting that fast. This was in 1999, just after the horrible Galtur avalanche. We were the first group being able to go up again.

amazing videos! really entertaining and great selection of summits. as a german/austrian guide the only thing i can criticise is the mix between roped up / and not being roped up. on a glacier covered in snow you should always be (that is not a debate) , and on that climbing sections you kinda shouldnt to avoid a complete tumble of the entire group. nevertheless, good effort!

I always love these videos, and as an actual amateur I have learned a ton from this channel. But I have to question something in this one. On the rappel, the rope was run directly through the loop tied in the end of the fixed line. I know they say not to do that for safety, which isn't even my concern here; both ropes can easily handle the small amount of friction they may experience during the rappel. But when pulling your rap rope through, it's going to wear heavily on the fixed line. Wouldn't it have been better to leave a locking carabiner on the fixed line to avoid wear for anyone else who needs to follow?
@nvsv_wintersport2 жыл бұрын
Maybe I'm already an oldtimer, but with just three guys on a rope, would it make sense to make knots in the rope between you, just for extra friction in case someone would fall into a crevasse? Or has this been abandoned already?
@herkusr013 жыл бұрын
Surprised nobody was skiing that! Too much crevasse danger I presume?
