He was blessed to see the best years in NASCAR and was so instrumental in shaping things to reach the pinnacle of the sport.

He definitely lived a full life , and helped Nascar to what it used to be. Speedvision was so much better than the BS coverage that is now half-ass covering it. And the announcer's trying so hard to sell their crap . Thank you Junior Johnson for your time. May you RIP.

Junior and my Dad and I were out to supper years back when Jeff Hammond was his crew chief! Jeff was over putting the moves on this girl best he could! Junior looked over and said” he better not get into that , he won’t be worth a damn tomorrow for the race! LOL! I’m going to miss Junior! Hell of a man!

One of my greatest highlights going to NASCAR races was being able to meet Junior Johnson, and get his autograph on his very own moonshine, which he offered me.

Junior Johnson at the 1960 Daytona 500 was probably the greatest piece of driving in NASCAR history. He managed to win the race despite his 59 Chevy being 10 mph slower than most of the Pontiacs there. Junior was a master strategist on the race track

He was the first to discover drafting, that's how he won that race with a slower car.

I was able to meet Jr Johnson, a friend I got to know in HS. His dad was a friend of Jr and I would go up to see him on Sunday afternoon. My dad had a dairy farm and his dad had 2 chicken houses. I had Sun afternoon off so would go up to see him and he would have to pick up eggs so I would help. One afternoon his dad said he was going to Jr's shop and asked if we wanted to go. Nice guy let us look around anywhere in the shop and he told us the beer was free if we wanted some. Then he asked my friends dad if it was ok.

Junior Johnson is one of my all time favorite drivers. Always liked Ned Jarrett too and Dale Jarrett later on. NASCAR is nowhere near as great as it once was, just like every single other aspect of society in America

Me too. Aside from the cheese factor it creates ads on the video because the music is monetized by the copyright owner. The only sound effect any good racing video needs is the song of the engines.

The 389 Pontiac Catalina's were the fastest cars in NASCAR back then I believe. The Chevy's really weren't that competitive until the 409 came out late in 61 and those 427 mystery engines came out in 63 I believe...just in time for GM's racing ban. Awesome piece of driving by Junior to win that one with the car he had. The 348 was more of a truck engine but they did have some different versions of it with 3 x 2 bbl carbs that were good performers on the street but multiple carbs were banned by NASCAR in 57
