I'm fairly certain they approached food much better in the stone age, up to the end, at least. You know, since humans existed mostly in the stone age, right up until the bronze or copper age, which was well after farming began in societies that were also using metals. I know what you mea, though, but as a society, we're far more in love with a really bad idea that anything humans can make is somehow better than nature.

Very insightful perspective on addictive junk food. After hundreds of hours of looking into factory oils, I've concluded that humans only need a very small amount of omega-6 fats in their diet. And anything over that small amount is almost entirely stored as body fat instead of using the oil as energy. The end result of eating junk food is that 80 to 90 percent of the factory oil calories will be STORED AS BODY FAT. I would be interested in your perspective on this hypothesis - if true, it would be the leading cause of the obesity epidemic.

Would a cookie dough made from a mix of powdered oats, protein powder, enough butter and/or oil to make it palatable (crumbly or like normal dough) and a bit salt&sugar be considered junkfood? (eaten raw, no idea if this mix can be baked) I ate nothing than this for over a week as I was a bit depressive and lazy, and it somehow doesn't feel healthy in terms of how much energy and "warmth" it gives, I guess because of the quite high amount of butter/oil you need to make it tasty, one can also use partly milk instead of fats but then it gets really sticky and gooey, but also very tasty. This seems like the ultimate survival food for me, ingredients are cheap and have a long shelf life if you take oil instead of butter, and it's something you could eat for month's if there really would be nothing else there, cookie dough takes a long time to get boring as it's just so tasty and easily modifieable with other ingredients, coconut for example mixes perfect with it.

What are you going on about? Cookie dough is eggs, flour, sugar, butter. It's not whatever you are describing above. But even if it was, Seed oils are poison, who cares if the poison is cheap? Nope. Thats healthy. Junk food is food that is super palatable, high in calories, fiberless, low in micronutrients, and provides little satiety
@trail.blazer2 ай бұрын
@@JohnJohnson-wy6fk On the other hand, someone with (pre-)diabetes might find a mix of oats and protein powder enough to keep blood glucose high, depending on how much is being eaten. Also, that cookie dough mix is not particularly high in many micronutrients. If it contains seed oils, then my opinion is that it is a bit junky. It certainly doesn't fall strongly into 'healthy'. Maybe sustaining. If it is quite a high amount of butter/oil then mixing that with a high amount of carbs is bad and very much junk.
@JohnJohnson-wy6fk2 ай бұрын
@@trail.blazer Your logic falls flat considering that those with pre-diabetes/diabetes have to also need weary of high fruit consumption. You gonna call that junky too? You do not rate the health of food based on the sickest on society.
@trail.blazer2 ай бұрын
@@JohnJohnson-wy6fk In the context of type 2 diabetes, too much fruit might be a problem. However, fruit is also fructose, and that has a slower effect on blood glucose than consuming other forms of sugar. Fruit does not contain much fat. So, at least from a macro nutrient perspective, I would not call fruit junky. Some fruit is in my opinion too high sugar but each to their own. However, this cookie dough is well on the way to being considered ultra-processed. It is not particularly full of nutrition and is missing some essential nutrients. Eat it for a week, you might be okay'ish, eat it for a month and it could be a problem.
