"JUNK?" TRAXXAS XRT 8s Frustrations and Fixes...

Ever own an RC you love and hate. That sums up my feelings about the XRT. Super well handling and fun, but needs serious upgrading to make fast and durable. Thank goodness for aftermarket companies committed to making true quality upgrade options that actually work as designed. When you just want to bash, they often make the difference between packing up early or having fun finishing your charged packs. Big thanks to M2C Racing and other companies that understand and help enable us to bash care free with confidence.

My XRT is at the bottom of the Delta near Lost Isle Resort and bar. 😂 The plastics were all destroyed. I prefer my 8s XMAXX and Kraton 8s. I'm surprised you haven't been contacted by the FAA for interfering with commercial airs traffic, yet. 😂😂 You're bananas.

Holy crap Bro 😂. Just had a Lost Isle intoxicated flashback from the mid 90's with an ex girlfriend 🤣. Did some sketchy Delta wake boarding back then. Yeah the XMaxx is more raw fun, but the XRT does handle nicely. Kraton is still the King 👑. Love the fact it comes with real metal gears too 🚀🚀

@@FreedomCrawler the Kraton 8s has hardened steel gears throughout and a solid foundation. It doesn't crack or split when you land on river rocks or urban debris. It's built to handle serious power and harsh use. Yes the stock chassis will bend with enough savagery, but not with an upgraded one like M2C. I do like the XRT agility being lighter, but that comes at the expense of ultimate durability. Lots of hollow cavities in the chassis frame, towers, and bulkheads. Both trucks need upgrading to reach their potential, but the K8s has greater potential by design. 🍻

@@richduperbash2966 fair enough. I just sold my Talion to pickup an XRT later this week and was curious. I had seen a modded out super clean Kraton 8S but had passed on it due to what I had read about the two and how most people were saying the Kraton needed more mods out of the box and was heavier vs the XRT which needed less and was lighter. I guess at the end of the day it’s all preference and how you drive. I really like the look of the XRT overall and want to give it a go. Probably end up with both anyways but I just want something that is fun/looks good and I can have a good time with. Much appreciated on the reply

I've got a o8s exb and have bin loven it alot. My k8s is still a beast. But for the smallest spots the o8s seems to be the ticket. As for the Traxxas stuff I have a slash platinum still from when I just started back into the hobby an can't bring myself to sell, but the xmaxx I had picked up cheap that was like new for good price I ended up selling. The plastic chassis flexing bend drive shafts so fast an diff gears blow like they were glass. I'll stay with my arrma, tekno and losi. Love the honesty here brotha!!!

Sweet video,ive had my xrt for a while now,havent really bashed it that hard yet tho,i know it will def need upgrades so far all i have done is change the stock battery fasteners so i can fit bigger lipos .

I also went through multiple rear and front ring gears on the XRT. Things didn't improve for me until I shimmed the holy hell out of the input pinions. I shimmed them to the point it's almost too tight and I haven't had a problem with stock ring gears since. I was so frustrated with the truck before that lol.

@@richduperbash2966 I have seen pot metal in Arrma rigs just as much as anyother manufacture. I have seen you upgrade just about everything there is to upgrade in an Arrma 8s to make it durable. I have also seen you upgrade Traxxass 8s vehicles with everything possible to make it durable. It comes down to the amount of money that it costs to upgrade these vehicles when you don't get parts for free.

Awesome Bash as usual Rich. I might pull the trigger on the sledge it looks like it's a little stronger than the XRT, I know they are two different size vehicles but it looks like the sledge can handle a little more. I just put a new motor in my Kraton 6s it's a hobby star 4092 1780 KV, I am running a 18 tooth pinion right now, what do you think is the sweet spot is for power and temps? Thanks so much Brother 🤗. The Sledge can take more punishment being smaller and lighter. That said, the stock motor mount is a horrible design. The cradle system doesn't work once the chassis flexes. It literally destroys gears. I've had zero issues with the M2C mount and 7075 T6 chassis 💪. The reverse mount set-up allows you to fit bigger motors no problem. Otherwise the forward facing stock setup is very limited due to the front steering post. You could probably run a 20T with the Hobbystar without heat issues if you want a bit more speed and wheelspin for better air control depending on tire size. 🍻

Agreed the Kraton drivetrain, electronics (though we all upgrade), are just way tougher/quality out the box, sure plastic has its advantages, I'd say my XMaxx takes more bad landings than any of my big rigs, if your landing good on both the Big Arrma's just hold up WAYYYY better for consistent hard bashing(both M2Cified of course). Great power packed sends... That Shaver recovery was sickkk😜 I was like "oh no"... Little harder with the bigger rigs on a mobile ramp occasionally getting "interesting" 😂😂 with shavers. Thanks Brother 🤗. I use 30 lb. rated Gorilla brand mounting tape. Basically clean the switch and mounting surface with alcohol and stick the switch down flat. Best to stick the tape on covering the sides and bottom with the bottom fold flared slightly. Allows the switch to absorb impacts and stay put. 🍻

The little bearing can implode, but I've ran without one in my XRT with zero issues. You honestly don't need it because the hardened steel spur shaft and gears are WAY stronger than the stock junk.

The speeds are very comparable. I really switched to mod 1.5 because I was eating through Hot Racing mod 1 spur gears. These Vitavon gears have been solid 💪

That's tough to answer because both trucks have weak points out of the box and absolutely need upgrading to take harder bashing. The Sledge will take more punishment once the motor mount is replaced with M2C Racing 7075 T6 aluminum.

Stock for stock My XRT drives and is more durable then my Kraton 8s exb. Yes the kraton 8s can for sure be made to be better but there's not much arrma left. Like my xmaxx more then both

My stock XRT about imploded the first big ramp send. Same for my XMaxx. Gears exploded, diffs stripped from the main gears locking up violently, motor mount cracked, and center driveshaft turned into a banana 😂. My K8s took an absolute hammering bone stock with big power installed. Yes I broke a suspension hanger (B block) and twisted the front chassis slightly, but she was still driving and easily patched up. Awesome runs!! I can't understand why manufacturers especially Traxxas insist on using dirt cheap low quality components on their high end RCs, we're willing to pay top dollar for their products and we do but we're definitely NOT getting what we pay for.. I understand corners being cut and cheaper materials on budget models but doing it on a rig with a MSRP over a thousand bucks is flat out wrong and quite frankly a slap in the face to the people these companies depend on!! I wish there was something our community could do to make them change.. Just a thought more of us need to have.

Traxxas is a mediocre at best company who likes to steal innovations while simultaneously patenting what others invented. So far, Traxxas has sued Losi, Hobbico, HPI, Redcat, ARRMA, Maclan, Skulldugery, and probably more. This bully known as Traxxas has patented designs that they not only didn't invent, but have been used for years in the industry. The worst part? While Traxxas was suing for simple things like rubber o rings, double servos, or lay down shocks, Traxxas was stealing things like complete car design by TheJang's Chimera A (including the color scheme) and relabeling it a Telluride. Traxxas is a Texas lawyer with some cheap plastic products to sell you in order to kill the market with RTR's like they did HPI. Yes, junk...TraxASS

The fact that Arrma has discontinued the exb line in 6/8s and a couple more rigs tells me some serious shit is on the horizon!!!! So comical to me how the competition is so similar regardless of the hobby your in! Polaris showed their cards first this time with the pro R and so did crapxass with the xrt…totally a pos. So in classic the answer is coming fellas form…all we can do is wait til it hits!!! When it does the bar will set by Arrma once again so damn high, we’ll have years of good content free of this crapxass bs needs all the Arrma tires n M2c parts upgrades lol!!! Hopefully the educated will steer clear of the bs in the meantime if anyone is in the market for new rigs and wait for the dominant brand to reveal the next level basher!!
