Matt, you may find this story funny. Years ago I had a roommate who looked exactly like you. In videos where you show your face up close it always jumps out at me. He could almost be your twin. But the funny part is that guy was the most inept person on the planet. No common sense, totally unable to do anything for himself. Not exaggerating. Seriously, I showed him 3 times how to use the dishwasher and he couldn't figure it out. He didn't know what a circuit breaker was. He was amazed when I made cookies from the premade roll of cookie dough. And when I would build or fix things, well, let's just say he wasn't much help. Anyway, you guys look exactly the same, but beyond that, you are complete opposites! It makes me chuckle when I'm learning valuable stuff watching you, and then I see you up close and get reminded of him. Love your channel, and thanks for sharing.

This type of lathe is what I used to do but I made a 1 x 30 belt grinder with a good sized platen and builtin dust collection system using a vacuum cleaner cyclone bag less cup type collector for fine turning and truing some parts for the custom junk I put together.

Matt, just a old man from South Dakota. When you picked up your F600 with the dump box for your Binder (SD slang for International). There was a F700 with a knuckle boom on it. The last time I saw the truck it was setting in your yard and still had the boom on it. I think (dangerous), that boom would really be handy for a lot of things you use. Your excavator for.. Mostly because most of those style booms the grapple swivels. But of course you will need a truck to mount it to. I've been a mechanic, fabricator, welder, truck driver, light & heavy duty towing & recovery person forever. Well maybe not forever but I started helping build an over the road hay hauler in 1966. In 1967 I taught my power mechanics instructor how to weld. Oh for the good old days.

I remember as a kid having a rusty lawnmower gas tank and trying to figure out how to clean it out!? My Uncle Doyle came by and said here this will work, as we headed to the drive way. He selected a hand full of clean marble size stones and added them to the tank. We then put the cap on and shook it for a while and dumped out the nasty gas, and stones to find inside a perfectly clean tank... old school cleaned! 👍

Sometimes it just takes a few years to get a project together, just shows you know how to stick with something no matter how long it takes. And is there anything better than an excavator, you can do so much with them. It's a bucket list want for me. I got spoiled using them at the quarry for everything, and left a big hole in my personal life LOL I like our old Case the best for sentimental reasons, but the 300, and 400 Komatsu's are so good.

My experience with those little kubota engines is that you ALWAYS have to use the glow plugs before start. IIRC, they are indirect injection and are hard to start when not absolutely hot, without the glow plugs. Turn the key left 20-30s and then right, they fire right away.
@DieselCreek

I like your tank cleaning method. I do something similar when I buy large jars of "old fashioned" peanut butter - the oil always separates and rises to the top while on the store shelves. I buy a couple of jars, put them into my saddlebags and take my motorcycle on a nice long ride on a road with a lot of tight turns. When I get home the oil is always back in the solution just like it should be.
