Your knowledge of 1970 vintage cars in very impressive to me. I kind of stopped watching them closely about that time. Late 40s through late 60s are my faves.

Oh Ya ,….nothing better than a dube , a Bud,..and a Junk Yard with tons of old cars. Your very good at getting the years right.

Super great video. I love junk yards! Just think, those Junkers were brand new cars at one time, nice and clean, and were sold with a handshake. If they could talk I am sure they all have interesting history's.

When I finally get my time machine up and running(you never have to get in a rush with your time machine), I'm going back to cut the wheelarches off that Charger. Nice to know they'll still be there

That little Vanguard looks like it would have been a neat little car to drive. Sad that it has met it's end this way.

Hi Coldwar motors, that british classic you looked at at your local wreckers was indeed a Standard Vanguard, a '53 to '55 phase 2 model, rare too, only 81,000 made so not many in England never mind anywhere else ! BTW loving your videos - keep 'em coming.

I'd love to, but it was pretty picked over! Such a cool car...

The Olds Cutlass SX is a fairly rare car. If you get a chance to read the story of them you will find it interesting as well as humorous. They were not only a way to beat the insurance companies, but the SX badging was chosen to also insinuate that a fast car would get you more sex. The E was deleted from it because it was felt that it was to bold and risky as Olds was also bought by a stodgy clientele

I added your Channel, i'm from germany and I like to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this Videos about junk/salvage yards like this! 🍀☺ I really love that amazing junk yards at USA...and i wish i life at USA, you could find me every day at an yard like this for looking for an classic car to restore & safe it😅 I saw also Part#1 of your junk yard tour 7 years ago... Is this yard still there? I hope so, also when the guy of the yard sayed that he doesn't crush those beautiful US classic cars... I'm restoring a 67 Chevy Caprice/Impala 4 Door Hardtop/Sport Sedan still in the moment. My heart is pumping for US cars, especially for 4 Doors. My most favorite bodystyle are 4 Door Hardtop's. For me it isn't importand if it's an Ford, GM or Mopar. Because I think all makes had made very very nice cars! ☺ When I was looking for my present project, i was looking in the whole Internet for an 4 Door or 4 Door Hardtop, especially for an '67 Chevy Caprice/ Impala as a 4 Door Hardtop but I didn't thought to get exactly this car. Because I know that many people at USA are a fan of the TV Show Supernatural & it is exactly this car with this bodystyling what are used for this TV Show. I'm Not really a fan of the TV Show. I'm an fan about this car! 😅 But because soo many Supernatural fans out there what are searching for exactly this cars, it was soo difficult to get one. And the most of those Supernatural fans are car guys or are restoring classic cars.... At 1st i would making an replica of the "Supernatural Impala", but now i wouldn't. I had to rebuild so many sheet metal. All 4 wheel arches at the fenders/quarters, whole lower windshield frame, and many more. I had to make it all by my hands, only with new flat sheet metal hammered in shape, welded, grinded untill i got back rustfree, fenders l,...and a car Body like new. It was an very difficult big work. But i safed every part. For me it wasn't really possible to get an better fender or else. Because i'm from germany and I hadn't anyone else at USA who could look at an junk yard for an better front fender or something else like that. And before I get another bad Front fender with the same rusty wheel arche, i rebuilded the front fenders which i became with my car. I'm still at Work, the Restoration is not ready yet. Every old car has a History. And i think to safe an old car is much more importand for future, to safe more Classics & their own History... The amazing great history of "the big 3". And every car made black in the days there is still a part of this amazing history.😊 I hope to see more videos like this from you! THANK YOU VERY MUCH & have a nice day!🍀☺ Cheers Till

That is a Standard Vanguard phase one. Te engine is the same as the triumph tr4, a 2.2 four cylinder but in single carb form as opposed to twin carbs. Mechanical parts are obtainable but body panels can be a problem. Mechanically they were considered old fashioned but bullet proof. I`d bet a weeks wages that this car would be running within 30 minutes. Regards, Torchy

Hey, thanks for the note and the info! I'm afraid this one is gone now... one of the reasons i make the odd "junkyard" video is to record for the final time some of these cars. Cheers from us here!

The Standard Vanguard was like the little girl with the little curl. When they were good they were very very good, but when they were bad they were horrid. or so the saying went. That's the second model and the Vanguard was supposed to be a "world car". It very nearly was, but in Australia the 48-215 Holden (GM) was probably a better car. Still, they sold plenty of them here, and I know they sold in South Africa too. My grandfather had the utility (pick-up) version of the Vanguard, which might only have been sold in Australia. After he died on Anzac Day 1967, my father and mother drove the car about 300 km. They stopped at a roadhouse about half way and my mother stayed in the car while my father went inside to buy something. She noticed a funny smell and saw the paint on the engine cover blistering. The engine was on fire. They put it out, fixed whatever the problem was and continued, delivering it to an uncle who drove it around for a few more years. What happened to it? Heaven knows, but it wasn't much good when my grandfather had it.

I have a friend here in Kingston, ON, with a '60 Olds 4-door flat top, in far better shape than that '59. Only light speckling of surface rust, no holes at all, body, floors or frame. All the glass and red interior nearly mint. Engine was seized but they got it unstuck. He was going to restore it but found a '60 Caddy coupe he's doing instead.

The Phase II Vanguard was an improvement on the Phase I and facelift models except in the looks department. That bustle-tailed look was pretty ugly compared to the earlier hump-backed style but they were both pretty dated by the time they arrived on the British scene. Decent old cars though.
