This reminds me of a story a few years ago...a guy had built a nice little off grid cabin. He was headed out to it. As he approached there were squatters there. He spoke to the crazy freaks and left to go Get sheriff. When he and sheriff came back...squatters gone and cabin burning up. Mean people suck 😪 🙄

Had more than one murder on local trails near me the last couple years. I never camp (or go anywhere really) unarmed but it's pathetic that it's come to this. The worst part is the uneasy feeling that it's only going to get way worse

This is why you should always carry a pistol, a rifle, and have motion detection lights and video recording. Also, the police could easily track what phones were in the area. I listen to police scanners, and watched them track a guy live behind my home.

Here is a idea that can be helpful for shelter. Carry 2 extra space blankets, drap them over the frame and then cover with another frame to hold the thatching. That helps keep most of the wind and rain out, and hold in warmth.

I'm in my early 60s and have been hankering to rekindle my love for the outdoors and camping. My wife is always freaking out if I even mention going truck or motorcycle camping. I'm beginning to realize that it is a much bigger gamble these days. In my mind, I think, I can find some place where I won't be bothered, but then I realize, just how deep I would have to go to be alone, and that is also a huge risk. I have lots of knowledge and skills, however rusty they may be, but I'm struggling with the call of the wild and the wild among us.

It also happened to me...but I was actually sleeping in the vehicle at the time. Unluckily the first bullet, a Magnum 45, hit me in the back of the head. The massive impact threw me from a prone position straight at the windscreen. A second bullet went clean through the engine. The first bullet scraped the back of my skull, and later in hospital, luckily, they were able to clamp the damage together with metal staples. A night I will never forget.

I know this is an older video, but I'm sorry to hear that. Some people are so stupid. Unfortunately, I can relate. After a 3-day backpacking adventure, my buddies and I returned to our car, only to find that someone had opened it and poured gasoline on the front dash, then lit it on fire. The dashboard and steering wheel were all melted. The punks were dumb enough to close the doors, and the fire died out from lack of air. However, we had no phone reception in this area, so we had to jury-rig the car to drive out of the forest service road and call for help. We could barely do it; the smell of all the plastic and material was so bad that it was almost impossible to drive. Despite keeping all the windows open, it didn't help much.

Sorry for what happened. I solo camp all the time when I travel on my motorcycle. Often it’s not in a campground. I carry a pistol also but thank god never had to use it. I think just having it strapped on has been enough in a couple of situations. Anything you get way out you risk running into lowlifes.

I know how it feels one night me and some friends of mine went night fishing for catfish when some asshat speeding down a dirt road behind us tried to shoot a sign on the bank (we assume he was trying to do that I'd like to not think the bullet aimed for me) missed terribly and the bullet hit the ground three feet away from me sadly we could not identify the truck because we all ran for cover but we now fish in more secluded areas away from people

Sorry to hear about you’re vehicle, some people will just be as*holes. I had someone try to steal my backpack while I was fishing from my car. Luckily I got my shit back, it would have sucked to lose all of my stuff. Good to see that you are okay. Stay safe

i didnt check for them and i dont have my truck on me right now but once i have it back, im gonna go look for the casings, i do think i can find them

I just picked up your video about mesquite beans and learned so much. and now this video… it was great, I’m so sorry those idiots wrecked your truck. I can't believe someone would shoot into someone else's car. How do they know you weren't sleeping in your car? They would have to face murder charges. You kept your head and you kept your good attitude. You can obviously tell when to pull your weapon, when to assess and when to say, "It's not worth it". God bless.
