These 2 guys are great! I brought my Jimny on a beginner M4Trec course and found out really how capable it is!

The Jimny is really underated! It's actually much as most perceive it as a lifestyle vehicle or even wanabe, it's actually quite capable pushing it thru off roads..

I look at the weather as good weather, if you get a lovely dry sunny day, you don't experience the wet muddy environment you will come across on some tracks, so that's a massive plus. Anyone can drive solid hard dry tracks. Also you got plenty of places with the Scuby, so that should set you up for where to place wheels and what to do, the main thing I think you need is experience and the finer arts of how to overcome things with low throttle and the correct gear. Driver is the most important part of the set up! I'd have een slapping your leg on the hill starts as you have your thumbs inside the steering wheel. That's a potential broken thumb(s). Cold water doesn't crack cast, what it does do is suck water in places water shouldn't be, and that kills things. When connecting to batteries, always connect the positive forst, then the negative, it is safer generally and flow is from negaitve to positive, not as most people thing the other way around. Te instructors at the 4wd course are very good. The only thing I ould say is when creating a bow wave, don't hit the throttle then back off, slowly increase then back off, hitting the throttle tends to fill the engien bay with water and damages things, but you'll get the hang of it quickly. Use what you've learned and keep up the practical of it, you'll get your overlanding dream soon enough.

I don't own a 4WD vehicle and have no plans to get one, but I still watched the whole video; it was very interesting. Derek is a competent instructor. Jun, thanks for taking us along to learn more about your vehicle. 😀

He is a great instructor. I can tell he has a lot of off-roading experience with manual 4WD like yours. I have a modern 4WD truck with the latest technologies available so the things like engine braking on hill descent is all done in a single button for mine. That is why I need to take the same course to be able to learn about the manual version of it all. Good luck.

It's really cool that you have a place like this to learn off road skills in a controlled environment with instructors. I can tell you had a blast, and learned a lot about the LC abilities and limits. Great video as always.

Another good video from you :) You only learn 4x4 driving by experiencing it :) Here in Finland, winter makes it a challenge to drive on mud tires all the time, with them you can go where you always wanted :) With a winch you can go where you can't go by car.

Excellent use of your time to learn up the Basics of 4-wheel driving, using your very OWN "teh-tarik" Land Cruiser. You had definitely gained some good hands-on drive and feel at this very ideal course.About the discovery of a "worn CV joint",it was obviously audible when your vehicle was making some serious mid-to-severe steering turns! Hope you will take it for immediate replacement before any unpleasant incidents, happen.

Once you get to know the limits and capabilities of your 4WD you'll love it. BTW, there aren't many terrains that a properly modded 4WD can't go, the only thing that you'll need to worry about is you may need a change of pants.....
