This was a great review. Can you tell me if you think theJ8 is better than the Z10? Overall which fully automatic espresso machine, and brand would you recommend? I am considering purchasing one, but I don’t know which one and brand is the best. Thank you so much!

Absolutely great machine, with the glaring exception of the syrup infuser. What a piece of junk for a $3k machine. It doesn't fit snugly and often drops into the drink. It's a very poor design. I modified mine. I added an O ring to compress the plastic sleeve so it would grab tighter to the nozzle. But that meant I had to trim the rubber top. Now it fits securely, but the infuser leaks a bit out of the top. I'll put up with that. Jura needs a quick rethink. Whoever passed this through design needs to actually think about unintended consequences. It should have been designed to screw on or to clip on in some way. A compression fit is just bad, and cannot possibly last long term as plastic parts' elasticity will change over time and constant use.

13:05 Adjusting the grinder is no problem with J8. It unwinds the grinder after grinding. You can hear this process as it whizzes one more time after grinding is complete. So no problemo!

A cappuccino has a layer of steamed milk, and then a layer of froth on top. Is there a Jura machine model (and video) that specifically does that?

The Jura will pour a traditional cappuccino, if you allow the milk to settle for sec the foam and hot milk will separate giving you that effect!

Thanks for going over the machine! Some questions: Can you adjust the milk foam digitally on the J8 or does it use the same density for all the drinks with milk foam? And are you able to make a pot of coffee for when there are a lot of guests over to prepare before they arrive for example?

It is not possible to adjust the density of milk foam. It’s either on foam or just warm milk. It is not possible to make a pot of coffee with this machine.

It depends on what you are wanting from your espresso machine! Both machines make beautiful beverages, but the S8 offers more control over the milk foam, and the J8 has an upgraded grinder, and an Americano function!
