Great review. I upgraded from the Touch Impress to the Jet a couple weeks ago and can say that that however the grind/dose/distribution/tamping mechanism works, it is much more consistent than that of the TI, and while I haven’t tried a bottomless filter on it yet, the pours have been insanely consistent so far with little to no signs of channeling or other issues. As someone who pretty much always did some puck prep on my TI to create consistency (single lever pull, throw a funnel on, WDT, re-tamp with Normcore 53.3mm), I have done no prep with the Jet as I’ve seen zero evidence I could do better than the machine. It’s remarkable!

Hi, I too have the touch impress and currently looking into upgrading to the jet! My problem with the impress touch and the original touch was the inconsistency, I could get the impress to pour great one cup but then the next same beans same grind same little tick to say dose is good but will either come flying out or painfully drip making it undrinkable. Assuming that was your same issue, has the jet now resolved this and are you still getting good consistency!? Thanks
@elsupremo192 ай бұрын
@Devon-Decor hi Devon, I wouldn’t say the Touch Impress was *that* inconsistent, but the Jet’s grind/dose/distribute/tamp system is noticeably more consistent in my experience. I’m very pleased with the general consistency I get with the Jet for a largely automated, quick and easy experience. However, I still use both machines all the time (different locations), and for the TI, I now grind/dose and tamp with 1-2 lever pulls, wipe excess grounds, throw on a funnel, WDT it thoroughly, knock the filter several times so the grinds sink and air pockets fill in, and then tamp with a normcore tamper. For the nearly two months I’ve been doing this method, I’ve gotten extreme consistency; ironically, even more consistent than the Jet’s automated process. It doesn’t take long, but it is more work than the Jet. And, the other pros of the Jet (lights, sounds, wheels, front load water, larger water, 2nd jet in head, better grinder, bigger brighter screen, OTA updates, more powerful wand, 58mm filter, cold drinks) make it seem well worth it in my eyes, but just wanted to share how I’ve gotten better results from the TI. The extra steps are worth it on the Ti, but while I do have the tools for the 58mm filter on the Jet too, I haven’t found it generally worth it to do the extra steps-good enough without. If you get the Jet, DO invest in the Breville puck sucker though. The puck is hard to knock out of the 58mm filter, especially with the included crappy knock box. And, before anyone says “oh doesn’t that defeat the whole purpose of the machine”, no it absolutely does not, because what’s great about the machines is they can be as easy as you want or they’ll let you buy the extra tools to take it to an extreme. The integrated grinders/tampers still provide the awesome option of making it super quick and easy to make a great tasting drink in no time. Also, when multiple people use the machine, most likely only one is going to care about how perfect the extraction is-the other will sincerely appreciate how easy both these machines can make a drink.

@elsupremo19 Great reply thank you, the extra puck prep for the touch impress is something I’ve probably not done enough of, but some mornings im in a rush so I just need that quick good cup of coffe to get me out the door when required! And the jets ease of further automation and consistency really appeals to me. I did have the original oracle for all of one day, because I couldn’t get the damn thing to tamp evenly, mind you it was a refurbished unit so potentially a fault could of been there, however with the jet in other tests and reviews I have seen this reoccur at times! Could you let me know if this is an issue you have ever been faced with? Thanks

@@Devon-Decor you know, I saw both Lance Hedrick and Tom’s Coffee Corner show an example or two of some terrible pucks from the Jet. It surprised me because in nearly two months of ownership, I’ve not gotten a puck like that even once while using it multiple times every day. I’m not sure if that was because of the coffee they’re using, or because they removed the blade and that affected something, or maybe some machines had a defect. I can only speculate. I’m usually a medium roast guy, sometimes slightly lighter medium, sometimes lighter dark, never super dark or super light. Always roasted less than 30 days past. The biggest defect I’ve seen is a slight, pin sized dimple in the middle, not even worth mentioning. 9/10 times it looks perfect, although there are almost always a few loose grinds that I always dump out by twisting the filter each way before sticking it in the group head. Btw, that’s how well it tamps-you can almost turn it upside down without the puck falling out, not something you can do with the TI’s tamped pucks. Also, while I don’t typically weigh doses to check consistency, just with my eyeballs I could see the TI was pretty inconsistent with dosing. You can also tell by how hard it is to lock into the head-big fluctuations. In my experience, the Jet is way more consistent with the dosing as well, I can’t really see much fluctuation at all just by eyeballing it. It’s also pretty similar while locking it in the head each time as well. If you’re in a rush, IMO, the Jet’s puck prep, 58mm filter, and 2nd thermojet in the head make a pretty significant difference in consistently making a great tasting shot quickly and easily.

As my first attempt into the world of espresso, I currently use a Breville Infuser and Baratza EDS grinder. Would this more "automatic machine" still make as good a flavor and tasting espresso? It has taken me a while to dial in our existing machine combo, so much that sadly I have NOT explored many different coffee beans. But we do like the end espresso product each morning. I would like to explore different bean types, is this something this machine could help me with? Just returning from a trip to Italy, good tasting espresso remains my end goal. I have to admit, I am intrigued by the simplified work flow. The IOT nature of the wifi updating is also of interest.

Compared to the barista touch impress in terms of taste, is there much difference?
@elsupremo194 ай бұрын
I upgraded from the Touch Impress to the Jet. Still have the TI, but moved it to my mom’s home as I visit her often. I was on the fence about the purchase initially, but I found the espresso from the Jet to taste noticeably better, especially from the first shot and in terms of consistency. With the TI, I needed to do WDT and re-tamp to create really consistent extractions. I have not done any puck prep with the Jet in about 2 weeks of ownership and the consistency of the shots has been incredible. In terms of first shot, I think the 2nd thermojet in group head helps. In terms of consistency and flavor, I think it’s a combination of the 58mm filter, the dosing/distribution/tamping mechanism, the 2 thermojets, and more accurate flow control due to more powerful CPU. Just the puck alone is visibly more consistently dosed, clean and flat than that produced by the TI which often had a lot of extra grinds, inconsistent doses, and needed 3-4 tamps to polish some. To be clear, I still *LOVE* the TI and think it’s amazing, especially for $700-800 USD less than the Jet, but with the improved grinder, 58mm, better wand, cold brew/cold espresso, larger work area, lighting, screen, OTA updates with more recipes, wheels, sounds, front water fill/level, etc., I personally find the Jet very compelling for those who liked the TI.
@Lara45844 ай бұрын
@elsupremo19 thank you so much. I think the second thermojet in the brew head is definitely a game changer, I wonder if there is a way to make up for it on the TI. But for the price difference, the TI seems to be a better choice. But seeing the positive reviews on the ninja it makes me wonder how it compares to this.
@elsupremo194 ай бұрын
@@Lara4584 Funny you should ask 🤣 Before deciding to buy the Jet for myself, I saw the flurry of positive content for the Ninja Luxe and bought it for my mom’s house. I used it for about 2 weeks before returning it. They did pack a lot in for $500, but it feels quite cheap overall, the grinder is very weak (I was always at the finest or next to finest setting for a medium roast), the steam wand is weak and is not insulated, and I could not get a pour that really compared to that of my TI. The TI is much more expensive than the Ninja, but the way some reviewers are gushing would make it sound like they are comparable-they are not. James Hoffman just uploaded a review of the Ninja that confirms many of my complaints. IMO, the TI is a *very* large step above the Ninja in terms of build quality, grinder, espresso quality, steam pressure/experience, and overall enjoyability. The Jet is yet another level above the TI in all of those respects, as I noted in my earlier reply. The Ninja is not in any way comparable to the Jet. If $500 or thereabouts is the preferred budget, I do think they are other options that may not have as many bells and whistles, but will make much better tasting beverages. I think some of the lower end Breville units would do, or perhaps the Philips Barista Brew, as I just saw Rebecca’s recent review of that machine. I’m happy to share any specifics if you have questions.
@elsupremo194 ай бұрын
@@Lara4584 by the way, in response to making the TI perform better, do a purge before brewing by holding down the brew icon to run some hot water through the group head and not only will it get rid of any grinds on the screen, but heat up the head. If you want to take it further, do the same with the portafilter in place to heat up the filter. Helps everything be up to temp for better extraction. :)
@mustry4 ай бұрын
@@elsupremo19 Ok but, this machine has single thermojet engine. Even the much simpler Creatista Pro model, previously produced for Nespresso, has a double thermojet engine. In this way, steam wand and extraction could be done simultaneously. At least that's what I expected for this machine.
@JoEpunkt4 ай бұрын
The question I always have with these kind of machines is: Can you „control your dose“? With my little Dedica I can say „oh, today I feel like wanting a cappucino with 12 grams of beans“ or „no, today is a 15g-day“. I just get a bit finer or coarser on my grinder and it works. Do I always have to dose 18 grams with this machine, cause it can only grind/tamp according to the size of the three baskets that come with it? If yes: what are the doses? Nobody tells that in the reviews…
@elsupremo194 ай бұрын
@@JoEpunkt you’re right that you can’t specify the dosage. But you can choose target drink volume in 7 steps from about .5 oz to 3.5 oz and supposedly the machine will adjust dose based on desired beverage volume. If the goal is simply to control extraction by dosage, you could instead adjust the grind a tad in either direction to affect extraction length similar to how you do now. When it comes to recipe adjustment, you just have to think a little differently when you deal with any of these volume-based machines, but I think you can get similar results.
