Ryan: New subscriber. I just joyfully stumbled upon this, one of my favorites from Hollywood. Great choice of material, with a haunting melody. I love your use of tremulants and percussion; The glockenspiel is delicious. I would also love to hear you expand this arrangement, maybe including other themes from the Jurassic franchise. ⋅

Ryan, in addition to the great material from Williams, you can't go wrong with Disney. I would start my animated feature requests with "Under the Sea". We have here in Southern California, a magnificently restored Wurlitzer with full MIDI digital interface, including sampled Trinidad steel drums. Next time you are coming to Southern California, please contact OCTOS Orange County Theater Organ Society to visit our Wurlitzer installed at the Plummer Auditorium, just around the corner from Disneyland.

Coming off this and the pandemic thing, A lot of us will be itching to get some air in those chests and fill that auditorium. Any chance we might be able to book you for a concert some time after things are cleared up ?

Wow that was great Ryan. The 7th Voyage of SInbad Overture by Bernard Herrmann would be nice to hear on a Wurlitzer. The opening theme to Erich Wolfgang Korngold: The Adventures of Robin Hood would be cool to hear. Or the love theme from The Adventures of Robin Hood would be cool to hear.

I love John Williams film scores so have at it. Now for a challenge, I am a fan of Holst: The Planets (all seven movements). In my opinion, there are too few theatre organist who take interest in symphonic music. No pressure from me, just an observation.
@RyanHardyMusic6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I really enjoy playing orchestral and symphonic music on the organ, and The Planets has been on my “to learn” list for a while now. Maybe I should get around to learning that one!!
@DrChaad3 жыл бұрын
@@RyanHardyMusic , I'm going to second that request for "The Planets". It reminds me of another epic classical work: "Pictures at an Exhibition". The parallel is probably by way of Isao Tomita, who recorded both of these works at the Moog System III modular synthesizer, back in the early 70s. Both were originally written for the piano and later arranged for pipe organ and full orchestra. I can't help but wonder how vividly they could be rendered on a theater organ. Of course, there is a wealth of great symphonic material from the pen of John Williams; One of my very favorites is "Olympic Spirit" from the 1984 Summer games. Marches and movie scores are a natural goldmine for theater organ. ⋅

Very cool! I love that glockenspiel like sound at 0:36. Are u planning on posting more in the future? Kind greetings from Sweden 🤗🤗🤗
@DrChaad2 жыл бұрын
@David Nyman , I believe that was the _Celeste_ percussion rank you were hearing at *00:36**.* The actual Wurlitzer _Glockenspiel_ rank comes in a bit later, at *01:43* . (Some classical & church pipe organs have a wind effect also called _Celeste,_ which employs a slightly detuned rank of flues, creating an interesting tremulant-like texture. ) The Wurlitzer unit orchestra offers not only a REAL mallet Celeste and glockenspiel, but xylophone, marimba, tubular chimes, church bells, trolley bells, cymbals, gongs, tambourines and other percussion effects. ·

Ryan: I'm all signed up! This is, by far, John Williams' most hauntingly beautiful movie number. *This needs to be longer,* but I liked what I heard of it. I Liked your use of the Glockenspiel stop. I also love theatre Organ with other melodic percussion-- Tubular bells, Xylophone, Steel Drum, Marimba, etc., especially with tremolo. My first request would have to be Mussorgsky's "Great Gate of Kiev", then perhaps Offenbach's Can-Can ---or the whole overture from "Orpheus in the Underworld." Are you available for concerts ? 🌹

You need a little more legato on this piece than you are using, especially in the pedal ranks. As for the stops you picked, they were PERFECT; I couldn't have picked the pipes better myself, though I would recommend you open more stops in the pedal section. You use all five keyboards very well; you are very talented.
