Yeah, getting to be in a cool death sequence is based. These actors are real people, and real people like doing cool stunts on camera. I'd sign up to be a random dino mauling victim in the next movie. Imagine your face and expression of terror helping to sell the tension of a crazy action sequence before the main characters take their licks. The fact that people bitch about her death being gratuitous baffles me. Yes, she didn't deserve to die like that, but good people dying undeserved deaths is part of the point of selling the "nature beyond our control" theme. Our human values don't determine who gets eaten by dinosaurs. That side of the conflict is too primal for morality.

I don’t think the movie sucks, it presents a lot of cool ideas and themes, but definitely doesn’t explore them as deeply as the novels or original film would, and often chooses spectacle instead of enforcing those themes. I think it is a pretty flawed film, but I still very much enjoy and appreciate it.

@@LorenzoDoesntExist You can still appreciate aspects of it even if it sucks, or even has parts that suck. You can appreciate James Cameron's "Avatar" for it's groundbreaking visual effects and what not, and on the other side still criticize it for the mediocre story that is white saviour-y. You can appreciate the 2014 Godzilla movie for redeeming the US market in terms of Godzilla movies and its much more accurate and badass portrayal of Godzilla while also criticizing it for focusing too much on the humans and frequently cutting away from the monster action we actually wanted to see in exchange for humans which we did not care for. I always felt that the babysitter's death was to show the horror of this force of nature being unleashed, and the consequences of trying to control nature would result in innocents dying. I never agreed with the criticism that she shouldn't die because she's not a villain; the dinosaurs are animals, not vigilantes.
@DChevy982 жыл бұрын
This would work a little better as part of a non-fiction story, but as part of a screenplay with prequels that already show this, it doesn’t really make sense to do this to a character that, at best (within the screenwriters’ goals), the audience is apathetic to.

“It’s cheaper and more efficient to use CGI, but this movie has so much money.” Not as much as other blockbusters did at the time. The director said it was cheaper relative to other blockbusters, and Universal did not want to spend money on animatronics. The director personally went to the people in charge of the budget and plead his case to have the one animatronic they used. After this movie was successful, the others had more animatronics. The newest one will have animatronics for 14 species.

The movie should've cut out entirely the subplot about Vincent D'Onofrio and his goons wanting to weapoinze the raptors. Unfortunately, that was one thing Spielberg absolutely wanted in this movie, and militarized raptors is the one common thread in every prior JP4 failed pitch. Instead, they should've devoted more time to let us see the park in operation (more rides, more creativity in ride concepts!) and more time and set pieces related to the chaos after the park's security fails and dinosaurs break loose. One thing I'll never understand is the complaint about how dinosaurs shouldn't kill good people. Muldoon wasn't a villain, Mr. Arnold, Eddie Carr... dinosaurs don't care if the human is good or bad. These movies are already Amblin enough as they are. Outside of the girl that was severely injured at the beginning of TLW, dinosaurs rarely damage children.

I'm not sure if I've said it anywhere on here but you guys being interested in like just the normal park management part of it reminds me of an idea for a tv series where we go through the development of the park from the ideas formation up to and including actual open park management (admittedly though it might not be a Jurassic Park show, simply due to just like it might just be easier script and audience wise to not have to work around the current timeline, and would also allow some more in depth specifics that may have been overlooked in the original movie.)

I'll tell you one particular reason why this movie sucks in comparison to Jurassic Park: there's no character like doctor Grant; a man probably in his 40s who was an archeologist, not a hero. But he had, at some point, to be superhero-like to protect two kids he initially didn't care about at all. He wasn't athletic, nor the "young and handsome" type, but he was relatable and felt human. Here you have Christ Pratt, whose character was written as virtually perfect. He could act like Sportacus, he could control a ferocious dinosaur with hand gestures! (LMAO). And he's boring and uninteresting. Literally one of the main reasons why this movie is bad.
