I'm surprised how quickly Juri shot up the ranks of Street Fighter popularity. Let's be real, Street Fighter IV's newcomers didn't receive the most positive reception, ranging from "eh, they're okay" to "who thought this was a good idea". Meanwhile Juri over here became arguably THE most popular character out of any of the post-SF2 crowd (aside from Sakura, I guess), to the point where she gets revealed for the next big game before freaking KEN.

But it seems to me that you're actually very lonely." so the idea of Juri spiraling definitely isn't coming from out of nowhere. Hopefully that one new lady that looks like she uses poison is evil. She has a past of putting down organizations and considering Ken is kind of isolating himself to protect his loved ones, someone like Juri could be very effective at getting intel and her and Ken's chemistry could be a very entertaining scenario to see especially with their personalities. To me Juri and Chun-Li are like a hardcore version of Pizzazz and Jem because of their rivalry to outdo each other the only difference is that Juri is willing to kill Chun-Li when they fight whereas with Pizzazz, she only wants to prove that she and The Misfits are better than Jem and The Holograms, but she won't cross that line of cold-blooded murder like Juri. The only similarities that Juri has with Pizzazz is that she has some sense of honor and compassion.

I think part of what makes Juri so appealing is that people often root for the damaged characters. She's an anti-hero who can stray between those lines of good and bad, in pursuing her own definition of justice/revenge/avengement and that's always interesting.

I am not a Juri main but I am in complete agreement that she is the biggest slam dunk addition to the Street Fighter roster we've seen since maybe Cammy, who I am not at all fond of. I can't see her being left behind in any mainline entry at this point and I am okay with that. EDIT: It has dawned on me that Sakura, who is my favorite among all these mentioned but still not a character I main, also made a comparable footprint but she's been added later than Juri in the last two games.

Juri is in an interesting standpoint in her SF career. The bane of her existence, Bison, the one who brought upon her greatest misery, is gone. But, she's still haunted by him, because she wasn't the one who put him down. Now that he's gone, what's a girl to do with herself? That's where Juri is at her most dangerous. Pour in some misery and despair all over a chaotic and sadistic woman who no longer has any motivations, and she can do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. It's hard to find something that truly makes her feel good, so she keeps going. A gremlin with no sleep habits, lots of energy, she can go for days, searching, destroying anything and everything she wants. However, going back to Menat's quote that she's lonely. When Juri is down, she's down. That sadness can very well overwhelm her if she doesn't keep up with her wild and chaotic lifestyle. Maybe she is lonely and this is the only way she can communicate, by finding people to fight. I think she'll interact with Chun Li here, perhaps it'll be less antagonistic. I'd like to see her maybe reach out to Chun and say, why don't you call me sometime. Maybe she calls Chun late at night because she needs someone at her side. They can talk about Bison, how shes struggling to move on. tl;dr 🤷‍♀️

Since Street Fighter 6 is taken place in Metro City, I assume all the fighters will be living there, temporary or permanent, and Juri will become Chun-Li's annoying neighbour and often looks to fight and torture Chun-Li for her pleasure but stops when she sees Li Fen, so Juri doesn't end up like Bison. Maybe Juri, Chun-Li, Cammy, Rose, Abel, Seth, Abel, Ed, Falke and all the Bison dolls form a "We Hate Bison" club and bond over their hatred to Bison for what he did to all of them.

I have to admit something. When I saw the entire Arcane show, in the last episode, when Jinx made a fast movement against Caithlyn reminded me Juri Han when her eye glows for use her powers. After that, I found Juri's backstory loosing her parents that reminded me Jinx saw her parents dead on the first episode. But yes, they have differences, Juri loose her loved ones during teenager, while Jinx was just a (I think) 6 years old little girl who understood something or nothing about that situation and later she lost her loved ones more than count. Honestly I was looking forward to seeing Juri have some interactions with Ryu as she is bad with potential to be good and Ryu is good with great potential to be bad with the dark Hado. Read a fanfiction once. Ryu and Juri brought out something in each other that was rare to see from others. I actually ship this over Ryu and Chun Li. Balance is what's needed to move forward. Finding peace doesn't seem to be Juri's style while living in chaos is not Ryu's style. I find these two fire in that concept.

It shouldn't come as any surprise, that her feet are one of the things she's admired for. After all, she's probably the first *female* character in the series to expose them. Which was a refreshing change for me, after all those years of characters like Ryu, Ken, E. Honda, Sagat, Blanka, and Dhalism. If they're going to show so many *guys* following that trope, it's only fair that they show some *girls* doing it too.

She's definitely not the first female to expose her feet. Makoto and Elena predated her, for starters, the latter showing much more skin. They obviously did lean into the foot aspect as time wore on. Her popularity is largely due to the fact that for years, Street Fighter had avoided making an evil female chatacter. Even Shadaloo dolls were clearly intended to be "brainwashed" and when C. Viper ended up being "secretly good" there went a lot of her appeal. By contrast Juri is unapolagetically sadistic, maniacal, and a 'bad girl." Even if she gets redeemed, she is not a nice person. People love villains.

@@nangbaby Hmm... well, I do know of Elena, but somehow she sort of slipped past my radar until recently. Makoto I'm well aware of, but I don't seem to recall seeing her until I was well acquainted with Juri. I don't know, I think "villain" is a bit of a stretch for Juri. She doesn't strike me as the kind who'd murder an innocent person in cold blood, and when beating Blanka in SF5, she says that she's normally against animal cruelty. I see her more as the rebellious gritty antihero type - one who might not seem to care about what's going on, but with the right kind of convincing, could be persuaded into doing the right thing. Not every protagonist in every story is necessarily a "hero", after all. Nor is every hero a lawful good type.

I like this direction and not to always put focus on the Poster Boy (not Luke in this scenario) but I have to imagine that Juri would have to be a little petty that Ryu was the one to ultimately defeat Bison, her goal snatched away. Maybe she would be pissed at Ryu, who doesn’t have much to struggle with now that he’s divorced himself from the Satsui no Hado. She’s likely to start trouble with him AND another person. Let’s not forget that for the first time, the story will have US the player be part of the world tour mode. Surely, will be meeting and learning from all masters (not just Ken) and developing new techniques. What if, Juri decides to teach us skills to get back at Ryu, who would also be teaching us skills too. Sorta like duality in philosophies between two teachers. One who lets go, the other who cannot… Or Juri just teaches the player her style so she can beat you up for fun. Either way, I’m looking forward to how Juri and the rest of the cast end up meeting us in World Tour.
