Thanks, I have never seen a Sock Penguin before it's so cute. I know this was done a few years back, but I will give it a go this year and add it to the winter family. That way it can stay up after the Christmas season.

The rubber bands will dry out and eventually break which will result in a big mess. It might be best to tie with string. Very cute!!

i made a few but I sewed mine after I used the rubber band just to make sure it would not open took me about 4 extra min to sew the edges thank you love them

You need to tie strong thread around where the rubber band is...bands snap if you reinforce with thread it has extra strength

Don't think sawdust will hold the round shape and will be too light to hold the penquin. Also the colour will show through the white sock..you won't get a pure white.

Very cute! But for safety sake, around children, I would not use stick pins. I would much rather glue pearls or buttons on. A good squeeze could cause a nasty pin prick! The pins are also too easy to just pull out.

Susan Proctor Hi there. The pins can poke pretty easy if played with too much. THey can definitely hold them, just not toss them around. I have grandchildren as well, I gave them one too, havent had any issues. I hope you get a chance to make them. They are so adorable and fun. Thanks for watching

These are very cute but I definitely wouldn't use stick pins with giving them to children! Glue gun all the way for me and string instead of elastic bands. I love these fat ones and will definitely be making them for Xmas thank you

Tie off with string, those rubber bands end up snapping after aging and then you have a melted snowman or in this case penguin.
