I had my consultation this week and truly considering sister locs. ❤️ I thankfully and surprisingly found a consultant in my area who's been doing them for over 25 years.

I have been considering getting Sisterlocks for over a year now but have not made up my mind. Why did you choose interlocks?
@GiggleKM3 жыл бұрын
@@heartnsoullove hey 👋🏾 One of the reasons why I chose microlocks is that after researching is that I didn’t want super small locs that I would want to start combining down the road and also you can have a lot of flexibility without having very small sized locs! Another reason is that I wanted to have the option to self retie if I wanted to or needed to for whatever reason, sisterlocks doesn’t give you that flexibility, although you can take a class for a nice price or try to learn on your own. I also didn’t want to spend more than 2 hours for each retie every month, I get reties every 6-8 weeks rather than every 4 weeks with most sisterlocks(very important to stay on schedule). Also my reties are cheaper with microlocks than it would be with sisterlocks. Lastly the price for me at 12in was almost $2K and it was slightly cheaper to do microlocks! So far a just over a year in and I love my locs!!!!

I got my sisterlocs already! 4 weeks in. They do get frizzy but like you I embrace the frizz! I have to.. no choice now lol It is pricey then you’re paying $100 a month to maintain them .. depending on your head I suppose. For me $1200 a year to have them maintained. I didn’t give the maintenance much thought.. I might have gotten some other locks had I considered this! I feel like I considered everything except this smh. But right now I’m happy with them. They look beautiful on you btw!! I love your sisterlocs!

Omg I totally agree with you! The maintenance is a lot BUT if you don’t factor in all the products you would’ve been buying as a loose natural and the money spent to get your hair done (wigs, weaves, braids, buying the hair) then that 1200 we’re spending is actually LESS. I’ve been locked for 2 years and not one day have I regretted my choice. The saying is true, “wish I would’ve gotten them sooner” lol.

This is what my reluctance is... The upkeep. I don't mind that initial cost. I'm cool with that. It's the cost of the upkeep that has me on the fence although I am leaning towards the side of getting sisterlocs. I may just get my install with the consultant and go with the trainee for the upkeep.

For the reties I totally understand. But when when it comes to moisturizing your hair, you'd be surprised how easy it is. I started ditching products (oils, butters, edge control, loc method, all that) in January started washing my hair weekly too. Then one month ago I came across sisterlocs and three weeks ago I took the plunge. Honestly it was either that or shaving my damn head 😂. Anyways, I did some research and self installed microlocs (sisterlocs were too expensive for me, took three days split into 8 hours each, twist method, I have 370 something twists). And I just wake up and go. I wash my hair twice a week and spray in between. My hair dries fast and it's flourishing more than when it was loose and I'm only 3 weeks in. Definitely wish I started years ago! So do your research if it's really in your heart to get them, take heed of what she said, and know that moisturizing is the easiest thing in the world with this style. I spray with plain water in between my bi weekly washes (shampoo on dry hair, rinse, shampoo again, rinse, deep conditioner, rinse and that's pretty much it unless your curling in which case I'll be going back to using wrap foam/mousse once my hair locs in a few months). Only things I didn't hear her mention was avoiding tight reties, too small parts and the lint your hair will be picking up (you can dye your hair to minimize the lint problem).

She's been having to get a retwist every week because the front and sides around her edges keep slipping.....

Microlocks and Sisterlocks $900 and up. Consultant is really a 30 minute for saying I can do your locks in 2-3 months $50-60. Retie $200 and up every 6 weeks. You have to maintain that. You have to stay on it. No shake and go! It is a very delicate hairstyle. But I truly love my Sisterlocks. I am glad I spend the money on my hair myself. Not a wig or weaves.

I love your hair! 💙 I am excited for my Sister-lock install .… A birthday gift from my love. Frizz is a minimal worry for me. The freedom.. I am excited about, even with the cost. My hair is past my shoulder. Does the shrinkage depend on hair texture? Anything that I need to do prior too?
@lisettebrown83174 жыл бұрын
Regarding products, some people need oil and moisturizer. My hair is 4c, colored and naturally dry. Hair is hair and sometimes products are needed. As far as buildup. It can occur just from the environment from dust and debris. With Locs we can’t avoid buildup 100 percent only minimize it. I may oil and moisturize but I use products that are loose or diluted and wash weekly. We have to keep in mind not all hair and scalps are the same.
