How great Jussi's voice sounds on this recording, it was getting sweeter and stronger with maturity. I can't even begin to imagine how it would have sounded had he lived longer. Annaliese must have been totally heartbroken when he died, they were well matched, such a loss to the world.

Thanks for listening Helena and I agree with what you say but I went off Anna Lisa a little when I read her biography of Jussi. She titled one of the chapters "Jussi Bjorling Alcoholic" which I thought was very unkind and unnecessary when you consider everything that he gave her( but I've no doubt it helped to sell the book). I find it hard to believe that he was a true alcoholic, there's no sign of it whatsoever in any of the hundreds of live and studio recordings that he made.

@michaelmcgrailengland Having been married to a 'true alcoholic', who was also a musician, for many years, I have a little more sympathy for Anna-Lisa, though I agree that the chapter is rather harsh; the problem could just have been 'touched upon.'

@@PippaAT Thanks for your message Pippa. Yes, I was also in the unfortunate position of living with an alcoholic for some years and I fully understand your point of view but I still think that a true alcoholic would have found it absolutely impossible to achieve a small fraction of what Jussi achieved in his short life.

@@lawrenceallen6508 No need but thanks Lawrence. By the way, he reminds of a great Australian tenor. Can't remember his name at the moment but I'm sure that you will!!!
@lawrenceallen65083 күн бұрын
Hello Michael, I believe you could be referring to either or both Ronald Dowd ( incidentally my mentor) or Donald Smith. In my view, these two Australian tenors were our greatest though some Aussies referred to Don as our Bjoerling. They were both world beaters and always exciting to listen too, the like of no others here. They had a public following in Aussie which was a big concern for opera managements for guess what - they had temperament- a primary ingredient in opera suffice much more to say.

Que placer cada vez que sube este tipo de documento. Es Jussi Bjorling siempre garantía de excelencia. Gracias por divulgar la obra de (para mi gusto) uno de las mas bellas voces de tenor de la historia.

...if I didn't love him already - now I would. Thank you, Michael, for this beautiful surprise (what a beginning of the day... In vacance in Austria, in an old, previous noble hotel with view on the lake with Jussi - I feel set back in past times). Wonderful music. 🩷

Hello Chang, thanks for listening, I hope you're not still stuck in that snowdrift!!!
@michaelmcgrailengland2 күн бұрын
Hi Chang. Well you got those lovely snow scenes you've been waiting for in your latest videos and in the last one Pachelbel fits in perfectly. I noticed that the bus driver didn't let the snow slow him down. We had about 12cm here o Monday and in the hills of the Yorkshire Dales they had around 30cm. The temperatures are very low at the moment (minus 9c tonight) so the snow will be staying put for a while. See you Chang.

Con todo respeto cuándo acoten algo por favor primero averigüen el infórmense. Usted está confundiendo la gran cantante sueca con una señora que fue mujer de Sylvester Stallone o en todo caso con la actriz transexual española que se llamaba de otra manera.
@leonardopizzella78343 күн бұрын
Brigitte Nielsen, es una actriz, modelo y cantante danesa nada que ver con la gran cantante sueca.
@leonardopizzella78343 күн бұрын
Y bibi andersen trans era una actriz española aunque parezca sueca tampoco nada que ver.
