Unfortunately in the black American community there is precedent of the majority being highly resistant to holding high profile/visibility men accountable. The cultural narrative used is that them getting caught doing wrong is a ploy to "bring them down" just due to them being prominent black men, i.e. that all claims/accusations are baseless and motivated by race and gender discrimination. There are so many examples of this, including OJ, Bill Cosby, R. Kelly, etc... the reason Jussie didn't get the same level of defense from the black community at large, in my opinion, is due to his sexuality and not being very masculine or not having an image that many black men can/want to empathize with

IDGAF what the topic is bc you can upload a whole a$$ movie about someone I'd normally never even consider watching &/or a case on which I've already seen it all on other channels and BOOM I'm clicking and watching NO questions asked. I dread alot of things in life but dreading uploads are not 1 of them, so thanks for that. I L Y + appreciate your work

Story time: I went to a small liberal arts college (Guilford) in NC. There was a lot of student involvement and activism around things like equal rights for the LGBTQ community, race equality, etc. A girl running for student body president was found “semi conscious” on the floor with her blouse unbuttoned and the words “n--r lover” scrawled on her chest. Also, in the days prior to the “attack” a few extremely racist flyers were posted around campus. This was in 1998 and it was a huge deal. The entire student body came together for meetings, protests, marches for equality, and a candle light vigil. She won the election but the police eventually found out she staged the whole affair. She also did not initially want police involved, and like Jussie she was not fully cooperative with security and law enforcement. There are so many similarities between the two cases that I wonder how often people try to do shit like this. Thankfully she was caught and kicked out of school. I think she wanted her 15 minutes in the limelight, but she underestimated just how big of a deal the situation would become. These people are really the worst, they do so much damage to the causes they supposedly care about.
