Born In Dissonance by Meshuggah 2022
This is the most courageous lady I've ever seen at a show, front row too.
I wasn't able to record a full clip of this track at this location, if you want to listen to the full track, you can click on this link that contains the full recording at the Orlando showing:

One of my favorite concert memories was when I saw Meshuggah live in 2009 with Cynic and The Faceless in Portland, Oregon. For the first two sets, there was a grey haired dude with a ponytail reading a book with a booklight. Dude looked like a stereotypical middle aged math teacher. As soon as Meshuggah walked on stage, he closed the book, had a huge smile on his face, and it was clear why he came to that show lol.

I understand the point of the story, but this rubs me the wrong way tbh. If you're gonna go to a gig, watch the supports as well, it's super disrespectful to not even pay attention to the set. I absolutely hate it when I see people on their phones (except for recording, which i don't mind) during a band's set.

@@b__c7538 There is only a kernel of truth in that grossly overstated myth. Most recent studies suggest otherwise. Several longitudinal studies of political ideology, party affiliation, and issue positions show that *most* are actually quite *stable over a person’s lifetime.* However, of those whose political views did change, most of those became more conservative. One of those studies followed subjects from 1972 to 2004, and found that groups of people actually became more tolerant, not more conservative, after age 60, particularly on social issues. One researcher explained the higher overall rate of conservatism in older voters like this: “While there is some evidence that today's seniors may be more conservative than today's youth, that's not because older folks are more conservative than they use to be. Instead, our modern elders likely came of age at a time when the political situation favored more conservative views.” While only anecdotal, my own experience as someone nearly 70 myself: I leaned far left politically as a young adult, and with very liberal social views, and I still do today. Similarly, my favorite music in the early ‘70s was Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, etc. Led Zeppelin, at least is still in heavy rotation for me, as is newer, more diverse metal, like the Mongolian band, The Hu. --Another little ol’ “lady” vibing to metal

Those who take care of the elderly - especially those with dementia and Alzheimer's, compile a playlist of music from their 20's and 30's. They are calmer and more present after having some music therapy. Old folk who have become hard of hearing enjoy the rhythmic beat of rock and metal. It somehow calms restless babies, too.

And as he grew up, now 29, he’s been teaching ME about the latest. (Speed, death, Viking rock, you name it.) We share such a love of music! And I hope to always enjoy it together, well into my old age! This woman is my spirit animal! I just wish I could’ve taken him to some of the concerts I went to when I was young: Pink Floyd, Genesis, Van Halen, Metallica (still can, I hope), and so many more! Such memories! My friend took me to see Opeth in London some years ago, and I unwisely smoked a joint before hand, and was really tired when we were travelling. I hadn’t bothered to ask my friend where in London we were going to, and it turned out it was the Albert Hall, and we sat in these lovely comfortable seats. I was only 26 at the time but I tell you, it was definitely preferable sitting down and taking the music in, than it would have been in the sweaty mosh pit

Cool story about her, total credit to the video uploader and guy who made the comment but thought it should be here too Roman Szomolai Pinned by United Yeets Roman Szomolai 3 months ago (edited) So hear me out, I am the person behind that sweet old lady and here is some background. Her name Is Niki and I aspire to be like her when I grow up. I met her at that concert. I was in the first row waiting for Meshuggah to start when I saw her on the side. She immediately piqued my interest, cause I had 0 clue how she got there. I started talking with her and the story is as follows: She travels a lot and tries to live life as much as possible. One day she went to see an art piece. She really liked it so she waited for the actors after the play. She talked to them and found out that one of the actresses actually went to the same high school as her daughter. This actress mentioned that her partner’s band plays a concert in NY in a few weeks and that should she come over, they will party. Actress happens to be Jessica Pimental and her partner happens to be one Thomas Haake. Niki likes experiences, so she obviously comes (without knowing anything about the band, djent or even metal). When the concert started I pushed her in front of me after the first song, cause we were quite close to the mosh pit and I didnt like her to get injured.. She not only survived the whole thing but was asking questions: “What are they singing about?”, “Why do they have so many lights?” and “Why are people being thrown forward” (about stage diving). She didn't want to leave. When I asked if she was ok she just stoically responded “I never left a single party in my life”. It was like a museum tour for her. After the concert she said “We are going to an after party, I got to meet my friend.” Do you think she had a badge or anything else to prove that she belongs to a band? Hell no! She just had her iron will and persistence. After talking with a bunch of security guys she actually went backstage. I waited outside. After a few minutes one of the crew members emerged and asked me to join them. Damn, Niki fulfilled my dream of meeting Meshuggah on f**king Meshuggah after the party. I don't have to tell you that I consider myself a super fan and how much this meant to me. In the end I got to leave the party early, but when I was leaving, Niki was still there having fun. That night I learned: never leave any party even if it seems crazy and help your elders because they can help you to meet your heroes…
