This is part two of a roughly 5 hour session i have edited down to make this more watchable for the average viewer...the variety of cases intermingled with judge Simpsons humor is informative, uplifting and entertaining to watch. The bulk of this video is an emotional, thought provoking probation revocation hearing…
This remix is intended to provide better insight into how our courts and the folks who run them administer justice to the public they serve. Remember they have to deal with folks who are often having their worst day on a daily basis.
This commentary remix work constitutes a fair use of any copyrighted materials under section 107 of the US copyright law. Video was edited only to add relevant commentary and to reduce time in the hopes it will be more convenient to be viewed by more folks thereby raising public interest.

So nice. It was also nice that he's through a child in foster care because a new mother didn't bend over and kissed the feet of the American justice system. Such a great judge. He can go home and pat himself on the back in his half a million dollar home driving his $100,000 vehicle to get there.

Concerning MS Ogden, it's important to keep in mind that people take the time, make the effort and sacrifice to try and do what is most important to them in their life. So she didn't have the money or transportation to start on the requirements of her probation. However, she was able to get transportation to a doctor, the money to pay the doctor, to get a medical marijuana card. She is also able to get the transportation, and the money, to get to marijuana. It's easy to see what's important to her.

@Les Cook you wrote the exact same opinion I have. I am a 67 year old dude, and I can say I too had plenty of times and reasons in these long years to pick up the bottle and drown my sorrows in booze (drugs in MS Ogden's case) . I did not, because it was clear to me from my early 20 that when I sober up (after I would get stoned) these problems would still be around. Unfortunately not all people think like that.

I’m sure a friend or family member would have arranged transportation if it meant keeping her out of jail she just didn’t try. There’s no question she’s still actively using and I’ll bet it’s more than just marijuana. The whole “medical marijuana” defense is pure bullshit. They hand out medical marijuana cards like candy these days. All you have to do is state that you have high stress levels and they’ll give you one. She just likes to smoke pot and doesn’t want to quit. She knew she’d fail the drug screen so she just didn’t show up. Jail time is the only thing that will wake her up at this point.

The first guy seemed really solid. He made mistakes when he was younger but from what he said the last felony he got was 15 years ago and he went up in front of Judge Simpson who held him accountable. His communication/greeting seemed a little casual to me, but Judge Simpson didn’t correct him in which speaks volumes both about Judge Simpson and presumably the strides that that man made. Judge Simpson is compassionate and humorous we are possible but, as we saw with that lady, is willing to throw down when necessary. I totally agree with you that she was likely trying to use her baby to manipulate the court and get mercy. But to me it just illustrated her incompetence, the baby she’s holding likely took roughly 9 months to make. If she could make a baby in nine months, It’s more than enough time to make some progress on the probation requirements. As judge Simpson said, Plenty of people have issues with probation requirements, but they deal with them with the court/probation officer and go forward from there. This lady did none of those things took minimal to no responsibility and weep for her children and feel so bad for her poor attorney

He's right! She's used to talking her way out of things so she does not have to hold herself accountable! Judge Simpson has my whole heart ❤️🤣 That first case was heartwarming and funny. Oh, Caitlin Ogden. My take - it seems she's home alone with the baby and it was probably easier to hold the baby to keep her calm. However, after hearing the Probation speak and the length of time that's passed... What does she expect?! Almost everything has been put to outpatient via video or telehealth. She don't need a car to call a place, get enrolled and make plans for this all. Smh.

It is funny. One of my downfalls is that I have a lot of empathy and give people the benefit of the doubt. That gets taken advantage of sometimes. I have to say with this obvious ploy from this woman to elicit pity, her excuses, and lack of ownership, I really don't feel sorry for her at all.
@aeromedical6776

She didn’t deserve pity. She had no intent of following the terms of her probation and hoped she could just continuously cry her way out of it. At some point the Judge had to follow through on sending her to jail. SHE made that choice by her failure to follow the rules.

Yup. Ms. Laraway was a good example of someone who probably would have ended up on a channel like this with the actions that landed her in jail and Judge Simpson giving her a chance where she failed to comply, but ultimately being able to appear at a much later date admitting their faults, mending relationships, understanding the Judge’s orders, and taking enormous steps to get their life back on track to do better to where he basically says in his roundabout way that he’s proud of her... I know this is an older video, but I hope she’s continued to do well. Moments like that is what makes Simpson among the best. I showed my husband a few vids with him in it, and he was surprised at how cool, calm, and collected he was while being both stern and compassionate. We don’t often see that, and there’s a reason he’s so cherished in these little communities lol. They are all lucky people to be before him. Maybe not lucky in the sense that they’ve made horrible choices in life that had them end up there, but lucky that they have someone like him that takes their role very serious for the benefit of others.

Addicts don’t realize the difference between advocacy and manipulation. “Somehow everything got a mess” and no personal responsibility. She says she’s sorry, but goes on with a narrative that doesn’t show any sense of responsibility or improvement, just spiraling. I don’t know what kinds of programs are available in the correctional system in this district, but ideally addicts should be able to get clean, get space away from their responsibilities, and then slowly learn to build a constructive life. What a collection of misfits in most of these court videos! Most of these people are their own worst enemy. The courts give them multiple opportunities to straighten out their lives and the majority just keep screwing up.
