Күн бұрын

Welcome to the Miami Boat Ramps channel. We are dedicated to bringing you all the craziness that goes on at the boat ramps in South Florida! Sit back and enjoy the show!
Ramps we currently cover: 79st (La 79!) / Black Point Marina / Haulover
We are working on adding 2 more ramps to the roster. Stay tuned!
Don't forget to hit the like button, subscribe and leave us a comment. If you don't, we're coming to steal your drain plug!

Disclaimer : We receive a ton of emails and messages from people telling us we filmed them at the ramp this past weekend and they want to know when the video will air. This is not a question we can typically answer. We film from three or more ramps every week and have a massive back log of content and sometime it could be weeks or months after an event occurs before we air the video. We put stuff out as fast as we can but we only air three videos a week and in a typical weekend get 6-10 episodes worth of content meaning we get content faster then we can air it. Thanks for watching and just be sure to keep watching looking for your content it will air but probably not immediately after it happens!

Leaving the motor revved while you secure it also undermines the end of the ramp and you end up with a huge pothole and possibly the end of the ramp sinking. That's why most ramps ban this practice.

Once on a correctly placed trailer and against the stop, the throttles can be greatly reduced while strapping it down.

When about to "climb" the trailer if you trim up it will not only prevent a ramp washout but it will lift the bow, making the process much easier.

The power on destroys the end of the ramps and makes it a cliff hence when trailers get stuck

That guy leaving his motor running to hook up. That's how ramps get destroyed because it blows the bottom out at the end of the ramp. Eventually leaves a hole so at low tide sometimes trailers get stuck in it. Don't get caught doing that up north!

Please don't do it at any ramp! Newport oregon ramp is dangerous at low tide due to drop off at end of ramp. Guy with brand new off shore got rear axle of 3 axle trailer stuck. Had to call tow to get entire truck and trailer off ramp. What a mess

Here in Australia there are signs at a lot of ramps telling you not to power on the trailer cause it washes out the end of the ramp creating a drop off. Very frowned upon doing this.

I have a 16' stern drive and will do something similar but only with enough RPM to prevent the boat from slipping backwards. Once I have the boat hooked I shut it down, trim up then winch it the last foot or so. 3 minutes or less to make way for the next guy.

In my experience, you really only need to keep power on while connecting the bow hook when you have a roller trailer. With my bunk trailer, I've never had the boat slide once.

I do the same thing solo loading I leave it in gear reach over the bow and hook the winch strap up. But I also have a full roller trailer so you pretty much have to.

I have a 21 foot center console and have to leave my boat in gear once I get to the bow stop to keep it from falling back if disengaged so I can secure it to the trailer with the winch where I want it. I do it all the time when I'm alone.

As a bystander I could care less, but when considering the problem of eroding the end of the ramps that others have stated below, it's a no brainer to not do it! As far as the boat somehow getting lose, and running wild, that would be somewhat rare so again, I wouldn't do it, but you do you.👍😎✌🗽

Some just don’t know how to load a boat..I’ve never had to power up like that..first trip out you should take the time to learn where to have your trailer to load properly..

Boat with power-on. There was someone still on the boat. He should have powered on, then had her stand-by on the helm for emergencies, while he played with the trailer.

If the ramp is exceptionally steep I use the motor in gear to keep the boat from sliding backward but you don’t have to create a wake to do that. That guy over did it a little.

With the hull firmly on the bunks and in process of hooking up to the trailer he is not in violation under the regulation: Operator Requirement: An individual operating a covered recreational vessel shall use an engine cut-off switch link while operating on plane or above displacement speed.

Power loading is the ONLY time you can leave the helm with the drive in gear. Don't leave the boat like that guy did, though.

worst part of power loading boats is that you wash out the bottom of the ramp and create a big hump for someone else to hit with the lower unit.

That first boat had 3 300's. Wonder if he was above the max power rating? If so, wonder how he got insurance on it?
@fastwin493
@fastwin493 5 ай бұрын
dachshunddad that boat with the triple 300's... IS LIKELY NOT over powered! It was most certainly rigged by a marine dealership. It is illegally unwise for any dealership, to install power above a boat's rating plate. (I've tried to slightly over power a boat purchase in the past!) But, if he (separately after an un-powered boat purchase), installed & rigged the engines (which is highly unlikely in most cases), then he WOULD BE IN LEGAL VIOLATION if officially discovered! And, his boat insurance coverage would be null & void if he ever had to make any sort of claim! 😊 Plus, I am fairly certain, most all insurance companies know what the power & capacity ratings are for each boat manufacturer & their models, before they will insure any boat.

Powerloading like that can create debris piles on the ramp, can damage the ramp, and will absolutely prevent the next boat from docking. It's inconsiderate to other boaters, and VERY inconsiderate if others have to watch you get hurt or they have to perform a rescue.
@PatrickHoodDaniel

If you're solo, the line should be tied up loosely (close to the bitter end) before you go back to your truck and back it down further. 6:40 could become a googan. I don't think it should be done. Water can have a powerful and unforgiving force.

I never allow people to wear flip flops when boarding or getting off my boat. Flip flops are dangerous with boats. And if that other guy is a teacher, I hope he teaches English or P.E. because he absolutely sucked at approaching the dock. He should know to turn his props toward the dock and give a little reverse to bring him alongside. Sheesh.
