No clear research and lots of debate. I would wait 2-3 months minimum. You would hate to go through all the effort and money and then (potentially) have bad meat.

You won't get boar taint under 6 mos. Age. Butchering that pig is easier than castrating at that age IMO. I've eaten a lot of young boars.
