Free mods, take out the spare wheel, the back seat, the stereo, speakers, passenger seat, rear parcel shelf and you can put on earplugs then lose the carpet and sound deadening, even the headliner hah, now your bug will be 0.5 seconds faster probably to 60 mph for free. Switch to a lighter oil and pump tires to 18 psi up front and 28 at the back.

Guy's a Genius. Very Impressed. My first car was a 1965 vw bug and I hated it then, would love to have it now. I think mine would do about 65 mph on level ground and at the time i wanted a V-8 car. I payed $85 for it and drove it several years. The heater was terrible.Had a buddy that had a super beetle with a semi-auto trans. Those were the days. Thanks for reminding me of my youth.

Hi John awesome build you are amazing. I also have a 73 super beetle I picked up last summer in Kentucky. It is a true time capsule .It was last registered in 1976 and has 2332 miles on it and not a scratch on it and it stills smells new inside. The only defect it has is the rear bumper has some rust spots from being parked in the same spot all those years and a drip from the garage roof kept landing on the bumper. Its the same blue as yours just a lot slower. I actually have not registered it yet anxious to drive it this summer. Take care

Spectacular engineering, fab, and execution! Clean and subtle. Sleeper all the way (except for maybe the roll bar :-) ). I watched the build video. This is indeed a work of art *and* a marvel of brilliant engineering. I'm certain it handles and brakes far better than any factory Beetle, but it still has Beetle aerodynamics, so it would easily scare last week's dinner out of me! Supposedly, if a Beetle gets sideways at 100 mph, it would generate enough lift to go airborne.

Fact is the car probably handles much more like a Le Mans car than a VW. The extensive frame reinforcement the suspension mods plus I must assert better weight distribution makes it more like a rally car Now no doubt the 500+ HP both creates a thrill (WOW) but also creates enough accel to make the Bug airborne if not careful. Much like the old space shuttle with Hydrogen Boosters riding in this car is a calculated exhilarating insane risk anyone like John or myself John could not resist. Why did John build it? Because he wanted to an could. Excellent craftsmanship, beautiful car and certainly a sleeper of sleepers! Kudos John you have done it! If I'm ever in your area would love a ride! At 70 I can still dish it and take it! Speed forever!!!!
