I have owned a Gorilla Cart for 5-6 years. I have used it around the house for standard homeowner tasks (never abused). It has not held up very well at all. The poly bed cracked where the handle meets it, the tires are all dry rotted and the poly bed has two 6" to 9" diameter holes in it.

Your experience does not surprise me at all. Plastic and sunlight do not mix well. Your brief review is worth much more to me than Dirt Farmer Jay's review of how to build it. Plus I hate having 4 tires to go flat. There are other wheel options much better suited to the garden.

Retired & Happy, A Ryan, and dchall8, all thanks for weighing in. We've had this cart for several seasons now, and it's still going strong. It is put away in a shady spot when not in use and put in our tractor barn over winter. The tires are still great, and I've not had the bed crack even with heavy use from time to time. It carries a variety of loads, including high volume, low weight items like raked leaves, loose straw, and so forth, as well as a load of bricks, dirt, gravel, sand, and so forth. Even though your insights are about a year ago, from time to time I go back and read all the replies from comments to see what experience viewers are having. Unfortunately, looking back has to be done manually - we need to search for them, as KZbin doesn't display replies. Sorry for the delayed response, and thank you for taking time to watch our video and jot down your thoughts. Best, DFJ

I have also had a gorilla cart the 10 for five to six years we have heavily-used it abused it to know and putting rocks in it tons of firewood I noticed any of those people being careful at all. Thought you had a got a cart that was either defective or you severely abused it. I have zero cracking no holes at all the bed whatsoever. Couple of tires having or showing signs and brought on the side but that's understood being out in the sunlight all the time. I plan on getting replacement tires anyway no big deal

Thank you, mate! Nowhere else could I find pictures to show which side of the nut goes down. You gave a lovely presentation and now it is possible to proceed. Everything comes in flat pack these days, and someone needs to wake up the instruction manual and translation people. A night out in a cold potting shed with their own instructions for something they have never put together should sort them out. Don't let them know which tools they need if they've left that out of their instructions, and don't let them back into the house until they've put it together.

Excellent review Jay and spot on. I just purchased the same model @ Lowes for $189, April '23, and I love it! I really like the slots in the sides that allow you to double the volume compacity of the wagon by inserting cut 1x3 firing strips and adding plywood or boards. I love the dump mechanism and how well it works; also like the feature that allows the handle to easily come off so it can be towed by my tractor. The wagon rolls very smoothly and the wheels are sturdy and well sized for the wagon. I do wish the wagon had a hand brake as my 8 acres is very hilly and this wagon will and does roll away very easily. The directions and the way the hardware is bundled individually for each step of assembly is superb! All in all a well built, well designed, great product!
@LastCall1174 жыл бұрын
Recently purchased one (after watching your informative vid). Quick feedback after spreading 12 yds (aka 324 cubic feet) of mulch with it. PROS: 1. Easy to assemble and excellent packaging and directions. 2. Overall super easy to use (much friendlier on my back than my wheel borrow). 3. Articulating front wheels (turn with handle) make for rapid positioning of load to dump. 4. Wheel height and bed are high enough to go over and around low ground cover. 5. Quick dump with the rear axle pivoting under the dump to (acts like a dump assist). CONS 1. If pulling with tractor it is very difficult to backup. If they included a couple clamps to lock out the front axle it wouldn't be an issue. Without a way to lock the front axle from pivoting/articulating front wheels become a major bear for backing your load up. 2. Minor thou if a bit taller than the load would completely dump without having to scoop the residual out since the tail of the cart hits the ground when you dump it. 3. Minor comment as I pulled the cart with my lawn tractor the locking pin kept popping out on me (user error?) Overall, wonderful add to our yard equipment. Thanks for the informative review. Cheers

The GOR4G-COM cart I have was from production lot in February 2018 which still had the yellow chromate metal release lever and painted grey handle. They also have a green and black poly tub option as well I think the black poly tub will withstand UV better than the green one which fades and degrades in less than 2 years. My cart is a yard queen that has done no work and I can tell you it does not even withstand the elements that well to even look pretty. These carts are great for immediate project uses and then they are scrapped a year or two down the road.

I've had mine for three years - I used to fill it up with dirt or stones and dump it without a problem. This year I have been putting everything into five gallon pails and then emptying them - I'm getting old (91) and can't do what I used to do. I had to drill the hitch pin hole out s little larger because the Deere magnet pin was too big snd when I tried to use the handle pin I couldn't see the hole for the big cotter pin.

It's good for working below or level ground but if you're trying to lift an area, the little dump doesn't work. Had to go back to the wheelbarrow for my project. It's ok but I'm not that impressed with it. Instructions were pictures. It would have been nice to have words. Language is a good thing . Also, the cotter pins on the wheels came off, so be sure to rig those it you need to. Finally, reviews elsewhere are saying the wheels are garbage. I think mine's going back.

In fact, the most popular product of this type is Slime® brand name and the product is called "Tire Sealant." If the tire is punctured or develops a small leak, then the "slime" flows into the leak and fills it, either completely or to a point that the tire will "hold" air for a long time. The product is widely available at places like Target and Walmart, and auto parts stores. I hope that helps! Best, DFJ

The tires always go flat 😂
@DirtFarmerJay5 жыл бұрын
CC CC, small equipment tires seem to be prone to this. I help the situation by putting "slime" in the tires, working to keep them correctly inflated (if they do go flat and the bead around the rim comes undone, it's a hassle), and either putting UV protectant (such as Armour All) on the tire sides, or putting the cart in the shed or in the barn after a day of work to keep it from getting sun-beat. Thanks for watching the video and taking time to write! Best, DFJ

How much lift force is required to pull up & dump a load of dirt or poop? You are lifting an empty cart. Looks like would need to use a rake to fully empty it out.
@DirtFarmerJay6 ай бұрын
The way the carriage is set up is that the back tires move forward and tuck under the tub when you lift the handle. There is very little debris left in the tub after dumping. The tuck action also gives good leverage in assisting to lessen the load when lifting the front edge of the tub. We've used the unit for a variety of loads, including an unintentional load of water after a good overnight rain. Still manageable. I hope this helps - thanks for writing! Best, DFJ

Yes you do a very nice job on your reviews. Looks like a quality piece of equipment too. My husband has been needing a wheelbarrow, do you think something like this would be a better surprise?
@DirtFarmerJay5 жыл бұрын
Mary, thank you for your kind comment. We enjoy sharing great products and we think the Gorilla Cart is a winner! Depending on the type of work that your husband typically does around the yardscape, we believe he will really enjoy this. It's hard to think of a task that doesn't fit well and that the cart wouldn't work hard for him (and you!). Get the largest one that fits in your space and you'll have a great yard tool for many years to come. Just remember, this kind of equipment greatly benefits from being stored under roof or cover. Do you think this will handle the beach ok? Will the sand ruin the bearings in the wheels?
@DirtFarmerJay3 жыл бұрын
As you know the beach is a brutal environment for these types of things. Sand gets into everything. DFJ says that if you grease the axle lightly and also apply grease to the face of the bearing cover before inserting the cotter pin, that will help keep sand out of the little spaces and make your cart last a long time. Hope this helps.

This product is useless for ppl who have sloped yards. Why, you ask? Because even a partially loaded cart will be uncontrollable due to the lack of a braking system. It will “run away” from you with possibly dangerous results.
@johnpacella95193 жыл бұрын
I doubt the Dirt Farmer has used this toy to do any real work.
@DirtFarmerJay3 жыл бұрын
John, you can do better than this - this cart has been a hardworking partner since we got it. I guess hauling rock, dirt, bricks, loads of soil, compost, plants and trees ready to be planted, or all the material going into the compost bins don't count as real work. Really? Your point on the highly sloped yards is well taken. There is no braking system on this cart, but for the value we receive around here perhaps a trade off would be the old fashioned rock behind the tire technique. Thanks for taking time to view the video and write - best regards, DFJ

Are these made in China or USA?
@DirtFarmerJay4 жыл бұрын
James, it took me some time to come up with the answer. There is no listing or answer about this on their website as far as I can tell. I was finally able to find a picture I had taken of the carton of one of these carts sitting on the shelf at Home Depot. It clearly states "Made in China." Frankly, I wish it didn't and these were made in the U.S.A. Best, DFJ

I’m skeptical. I have a lawn care company and also burn with wood in a outdoor wood boiler in the winter so I use and abuse these carts. I have had many carts and wheel barrows over the years. I haven’t found anything that holds up very well. None are rated for real world use. This cart looks similar to all other brands as far as lack of toughness.
@DirtFarmerJay4 жыл бұрын
Tim, I hear you. My brother has one of these carts and he really loads it and it is not treated gently at all. It's really ugly, but it keeps working. The latches and such are replaceable, so that's a plus. It sounds like you need a metal cart. I've used an AgriFab unit for years (over 25 now, same cart) that is 4-wheeled and I tow behind my lawn tractor. You might consider that approach. Thanks for writing and weighing in! Best, DFJ

There missing parts. Like washer ect. The bolt dose not hold while assembling. Cause the square head bolt holes are not deep enough. The handle breaks. The tub is very very thin THAT ANOTHER THING! THE CLIP PENS, HITS THE VALVE STEM! EVERY TIME THE WHEEL TURNS ! I RATE IT AS? PISS POOR 👎👎 What i did like about it if it had all of its parts was? the way the instruction was laid out 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 with the parts. IT NEEDS A LOT OF FINE TUNING TO BE A 100 dollar cart. I sent mine back and got my money back. Cause i can build a better cart! Way less than that > I got a steel wheel barrel tub that is waiting for some love. That way i can throw logs and bricks into it with out breaking ~ Plus i will use lawn mower tires and wheels on it

The pneumatic wheels that come with them are junk and will go flat in a year or two so add in the cost of flat-free wheels !
@DirtFarmerJay3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting E Tow. We've addressed this by putting "puncture sealant" into the tires and also by not storing the cart in the sun to help prevent the wheels from degrading. Best, DFJ
@etow80343 жыл бұрын
@@DirtFarmerJay They should just include flat-free wheels to start with. Aftermarket inner tubes are way too expensive to replace at $20+ per tube plus you have to be a bit of a handy person to replace them. Gorilla Cart does offer flat-free wheels (P/N: GCT-10NF), but they want $80usd for a set of four. Home Depot Canada does offer a more affordable option flat-free replacement wheels (P/N: HD20RW002) that fits perfectly on the GOR4G-COM Gorilla Cart without any additional hardware or washers that I don't think they offer at The Home Depot in the US. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jILFY6mtframp68 www.homedepot.ca/product/thd-flat-free-replacement-wheelsfor-hand-trucks-2-pack/1001590502

Tires go flat!
@DirtFarmerJay2 жыл бұрын
Lich King, we haven't had that problem, but we did a few things that I think help maintain the tires. When we first got the cart, we removed the valve stems in the tires, and placed "Slime" brand tire sealant in the tires, and then replaced the valve stems and inflated the tires to the right pressure. Second, we don't store the cart outside for long times, so as to slow down UV degradation on the tires from the sun. Third, if a tire does start to lose pressure slightly, we reinflate to assure that the bead of the tire stays affixed to the rim. Perhaps these measures would help in your situation. Thanks for writing! Best, DFJ
