Coach Nick went deep into the Duke footage to examine Grayson Allen's game. Unfairly maligned because of immaturity and some unsportsmanlike conduct, judging Allen's ability on the court alone shows he should have been drafted a lot higher in 2018.

@@M0ebius Kansas player picked up a chair and was going to smash a K state players face in a huge brawl last year and I bet you don't even know his name. That absolutely embarrassing and UNACCEPTABLE brawl was a story for a single day. Media talked about Allen's tripping incidents for 2 years. Allen tripped people like 3 times and they didn't even come close to getting injured, because he was actually never actually malicious in any of those instances. Allen on the other hand was left bleeding from being elbowed in the face on purpose and intentionally undercut going for a fast break dunk which is extremely cheap and one of the most dangerous things you can do to a player. He played for Duke and people loved to hate him unjustifiably so. The things done to him were so much worse and more dangerous and straight-up disrespectful than any action he ever did.

@@tristanwright9572 Brawls are different from dirty plays. And yes there are other dirty players besides Allen. And yes people focus on him because he’s a Dukie and was the star player. So what? Nothing you said justifies his behavior in the past, and his antics look plenty malicious to me. Now I’m not saying a person can’t change, but he brought this reputation onto himself. Plenty of Duke players were hated in college but highly respected in the NBA. Regular fans don’t owe him anything, and it’s up to Allen to change his public perception.

I think immaturity is still a big thing to factor in considering in the past how many players there have been with such immense talent but not hold the spot as well as one hopes. In this case I think it really matters which team makes the pick. The Jazz had the right players and vets that keep each other accountable. The Grizzlies seem to also. I'm not as sure he would do as well if he went to a super young team that had few vets and weren't expected to win. That said, his immense skill, talent, and effort was hard to deny and you would've been a fool to not acknowledge this, even if you really hated his antics. He should've been a few spots higher at least, but would that have worked out as well? Who knows.

@bernardoferrero9647

@@Millipede666 in nba most nba teams in the first round prefer to draft younger players, usually young athletic high potential players OR players that are really a cut above, even if they aren't necessarily the most "athletic" by the common meaning of the word. The longer the draft goes the more older proven players get drafted. It's a about the potential, older players usually are better when they enter but also have less time to develop in the nba before they hit their prime

On the floor he's a solid 2nd rotation player; however, things like team chemistry are also vital and if you have a guy willing to intentionally try to injure a player and could cost them their career could ruffle some feathers the wrong way. If he shows a clear change to his maturity he could easily be what Tyler Herro is to Miami, talent wise. I don't know about Jack Harlow making a song called Trippin' like Grayson tho lol

Hope he blossoms with bucks. His skill is undeniable. Perfect for buck's SG position over Donte. Bobby's reputation completely changed after playing with bucks. @@ssjj005 they are close imo. Donte is a better defender/rebounder but Grayson is better shooter and finisher at the rim. Been watching donte from rookie season and he is a backup guard talent not a starter. As Donte will be out in the beginning of this season due to injury, Grayson will get some opportunity to show his talent. Will be interesting to see how things turn out. They are in the same rookie class and both need new contracts next season. Things could get awkward btw those two.

It is a terrible thing calling dirty moralless player "tough" or "hustle", guys like Grayson Allen Facu Campazzo and Patrick Beverly should not be allowed to play basketball, what kids look at them and see is those guys do things from cheapshot to career ending moves and got no punishment whatsoever, Beverly even got rewarded a big contract being dirty. So many good championship teams got broken by dirty guys, Olynyk dislocated Love's shoulder played a big role in Cavs losing, Dellavedova knockout Kyle Korver killed Hawks chance to fight back, they made basketball ugly, F them.
