He's a clean cut American Kid.(you know you sang it) that capitalized on everything the Am dream is about. Followed his heart and his passions. Can't knock him for it and we all love him for it

I will never forget that time I was at the Anaheim supercross in the early 2000's and watched Pastrana jump literally half way into the whoop section during the afternoon practice session. It was sick !!!

If he would have stuck with racing his name would be next to Ricky's, Chad's, and Bubbas. Still is in my opinion. I still think he's one of the most naturally gifted and talented athletes we've ever seen. He's done so much in so many sports.

He's the most talented dude on 2 wheels, but idk if he ever had the focus and patience for racing, and was definitely better of pioneering freestyle. I watched so many great races in those days, but nothing from Ricky, Chad or Stew is more memorable than the double backflip

He would have never lasted long enough with all the injuries lol. Good try tho

Pastrana never won a 450 (back then called 250cc) race. He didn’t like racing. It was too much discipline. He is a wild man and the cookie cutter AMA Supercross was not for Travis.
@iceKOId Жыл бұрын
Naturally gifted and talented doesn’t meant anything. Look at Jason Lawrence, Christof Purcell, Stroupe , the list goes on of riders that fell off, but they had UNLIMITED potential

I love it and remember when he crashes out jumping the fence at his house. I think that was one of the two knee injuries. Travis is a legend and one of the greats all the way around. Great content, much love

That crash was at Castillo ranch, not his house. But your right, that crash was definitely the end of his supercross/motocross career

To say TP wasn’t on anyones radar isnt really accurate, Pastrana was already a well establish name even before ever lining up to a pro race. They’re litteraly a video of him RC and stew when they were kids, he was a ship prospect and well known in the Extreme Sport world. I maybe mistaken but i think he won title even before 99 loretta

Travis Pastrana was damn talented on a motorcycle, but it's a shame those injuries prevented him from ever winning a premier class Supercross race. Travis once said, "Racing has been my dream since I was 4 years old," and from a racer's standpoint, I strongly think Travis went back on his word. He could easily win races if he stayed away from bad luck. Overall, Travis was one of those guys you never forgot as a racer, but at the same time, I really believe the only thing he "gave" was a personality you just can't beat. When he backflipped the FINISH jump at Daytona '06, I started losing respect for him as a racer.

What about when he made a comeback attempt on a 450? You forgot to cover that! Haha

Travis Pastrana is one of the most talented people to throw a leg over a dirtbike... maybe he is not multiple back to back supercross season winner... but he is a true innovator who showed a lot of speed and accomplished a lot of things on a dirtbike that were thought to be impossible... Travis Pastrana was a talented top tier Racer, and he absolutely dominated the world of Freestyle Motocross.... Travis Pastrana will go down as one of the greatest people to swing a leg over a dirtbike... he brought his own style to the table and pushed the limits of what could be done on a dirtbike... there is no replacement for what Travis accomplished on a dirt bike.... and there is no replacement for Travis Pastrana... he is one of a kind and there will never be another....

When I think of the most influential people in Motorsport. Travis is number 1 for me. Name one other motocross/supercross rider who elevated an entire genre of Motorsport and was able to compete in the high levels of motocross/supercross. For example RC won everything for a decade but if you’re talking about someone who grew a sport and is still contributing to the very culture of dirt bikes while also having the pedigree in racing. Travis always will be my number 1.

TP was was really good for the sport. Well spoken with a huge personality not to mention very talented on a motorcycle.He made his supercross debut at 16 in a one off race at the Rose bowl in California. He almost crashed a few times in the main but he won. Very fun guy to watch on a bike.

What I remember is that he kept his bike pegged whenever possible. Balls out all the time. No fear. Unfortunately injuries stopped his SX/MX career but he gave himself opportunities in “extreme” sports which lead to what he is today. With the new sports he undoubtedly made 10X the $ he would have made riding for a team. Always better to own the company than be an employee.
