Here's one of my favorite Travis stories. We're at the New England Forest Rally when a kid comes up to Travis and asks him to autograph a hat for his buddy who is in the hospital. Travis says "let's get him on the phone!" and proceeds to chat with the kid in the hospital. One thing I learned early on - Travis has lots of fans who frequently visit the hospital.
@w1jim Жыл бұрын
Here's another one Travis told a bunch of us about 15 years ago at the STPR rally in Pennsylvania. We're in the town square prior to the start of the rally and a kid comes up to Travis and says that he saw him in Syracuse do some crazy flip and it was rad. Travis said "you look familiar, we're you in the stands with another guy with a broken arm?" The kid said "yeah, that was my friend so and so!" Travis told us afterward that lots of his fans have a broken arm, had a broken arm or are going to have a broken arm, so it was an easy call.

i met him after waiting in line for over an hour for his signature at wickedbigmeet, i felt stupid because i normally wouldnt do that but for some reason i stayed in line and im glad i did because even after signing autographs for well over an hour the Travis was still upbeat, happy, and seemed genuinely excited to meet all his fans.

He is constantly nice and outgoing even when he has every reason not to be. I was at NEFR one year at the start of stage 2 or 3 when his car suffered some electrical problems and he had to retire right there on the line. So he just hung out. Chatted with everyone, all smiles even though he was disappointed. Crazy charismatic. Seems like a great dude.

Travis did this at the Ojibwe forest rally also. Couple teens are there and tell Travis that their buddy couldn't be there. Travis told the kids to get them on facetime and he chatted with the buddy as his crew was yelling at him to get back in the car to leave service to avoid penalty.

I was at the X-games when Travis landed the double back flip. Was the most awesome thing I've ever experienced. I was maybe 14 years old. We were sitting 1st row along the balcony above the ramp they'd turn around on after the landing. The WHOLE staples center went silent. All you heard was Travis' 2 stroke pinned to the max. Then, when he rode away the place obviously erupted in excitement. I'll always remember that day like it was yesterday. He took a lap around the edge of the track and I ran down to the seats closest to the wall and there was no one around me because the sun was blazing on the first 20 rows so most people say 20+ rows back and he was coming towards me and I was like “Travissss nooo!! Whyyyy??!!” 🤷🏻♂️ and had my arms out like the emoji and he saw me and did the same thing stuck his arms out like 🤷🏻♂️ and said I’m sorry kid… he knew I was so broken hearted that he crashed and he was disappointed.. may not seem like much but to me a little kid who looked up to him it meant the world to me that he acknowledged me. Wow, this guy most definitely chose the very finest of parents!! It almost brings a tear to my eye to see the dedication and sacrifices they made for their son. Also, that they didn't push him in the way some parents do; as a way of using their children to somehow attempt to relive some dream they believe they missed out on themselves. Instead, Travis loved what he did and his parents followed through on their promises and made sure that he held up his end of the deal as well. When you see stories of people who are the absolute best at something, it seems that almost all the time, the person was dedicated as a child and were essentially obsessed with whatever it was they became great at. Someone who picks up a guitar when they are 19 and hope to make it in music has almost no chance of making it. BUT, someone who gets their first guitar at 8 years old, plays every hour they can in any spare time they can find, LOVES playing guitar and experimenting with different techniques, sounds, etc. MIGHT have a good chance at making it. At the other end of the spectrum is some father who pushes his son to be the best hockey player he can be. He makes the son do endless drills, enrolls him in power skating, pushes him in the gym, yells at him that second place is just being the best loser you can be, etc. etc. will often turn into some guy who is an amazing hockey player but walks away from it all at 17 because he never wanted to play in the first place- or the fun he did have from playing the game ran out years earlier.

That's not totally accurate. He has partial paralysis and has regained a lot of mobility (granted his life is changed forever). He got in the car willingly and Travis wasn't under the influence or anything of that nature, there is no reason he would go to prison.

Travis'dad was a Marine Corps Drill Sergeant?!! There's no such thing! But if he encouraged his recruits as much as he did with his son, he must have been an awesome Drill Instructor.

@@Alex-eg6lx no. There are no Drill Sergeants in the Marine Corps. If you've served in the Corps, like I did, you would know first hand what happens to privates who call them Drill Sergeants. They are called Drill Instructors. Look it up kid.

I, at 61 years young, have ZERO questions of someone that grabs life by the balls! Immense admiration for a person to live a life like this. You only live once! Do it right! Can I go back and change things? NO

@@krotchlickmeugh627 pretty obvious to tell when someone is a junky. Takes one to know one and this dude isn't an addict.

@@1nePercentJuice do you know the reason why theres a difference when you put the word functioning in front of addict? Your use of the word junky tells me you do. Further confirmed by your inference of first hand knowledge with said substance.

Where is the dark side of Travis that you used in the title of this video?
@theshittybowman Жыл бұрын
I just hope as he gets older; those concussions he’s had over his career don’t affect him later in life. He’s an amazing athlete and more importantly a really great person.

You didn’t do his amateur career any justice. He was a young phenom who was winning everything in the amateur ranks. Suzuki and Fox had him under their wing very early on. Everyone in moto in the 90’s knew he was going to be something special, we just had no idea how special he would be.

Dude that latest video where Travis jumped a helicopter over that bridge and raced a Jet, the speeds he hit were inhuman. He's literally a Prodigy Genius who put the Work in. Full Respect

You could have said about the car accident in 2003 and all the injuries, that made him get depressed at that time. He failed many times too, have friends that have died, a failed nascar career, and he is ADHD
