Every major banking institution, unless you have income in cash only, pay for your rent, utilities and all expenses with cash, closing your bank account will not protect you from this intrusion. I'm on SSI and I spend everything I get on my Bill's. I had a phone call this past year from someone saying that they were the IRS and I was trying to commit tax fraud. If they can't keep people's ss numbers straight. How are they going to keep this steight?

If this passes, me, my family, friends and so on will take their money out of banks and go old school. Companies will have to mail our bills and we pay by money order and mostly shop with cash when necessary. No more financial institutions for all of us.

I already do some of this the old school way. I’m taking in ideas for how to do more old school. Banks use to let utilities be paid there Synovus takes tax payments . Maybe banks will will be willing to take utilities again now that they are targeted . I only shop several places now -grocery , gas, Tuesday Morning for gg kids gifts , and Home Depot for necessities like repair, maintenance . I keep several bank cards and that means they must be used once every several months to stay open but I pay in full monthly no interest. My SS, and R are Direct deposit . Now I plan to start a new way of handling this. I’ll calculate how much must remain in the account for those bills that go far away , etc. Getting good ideas on this thread. Making some changes for Monday!
