She actually did. What people do not understand is this man motioned for his speedy trial and it as about to expire causing his case to be dropped. For 2 years his case was on going and his bond was denied but he then motioned for a speedy trial and they did not honor it in time. By keeping him locked up it would have expired but by releasing him it extends the speedy trial period. So in reality she had no choice otherwise this man would have his original charges dropped and be free. Cruz should know this its the 6th amendment of the U.S. Constitution and state law. I had similar happen in Illinois about 20 years ago and they released me with only 3 days left on my speedy trial allowing for an extension. If they kept me in jail I would have had the entire case dropped. Granted mine was petty compared to this man but the law is the law. Blame the DA for not presenting this to the judge in time

These Marxists think criminals are victims in their own right, that they've been "failed by the system" and "harm mitigation" is the best policy to "help" the criminal population- which it does, because it helps the criminal right out of jail and back onto the street within 24 hours in most Democrat cities now. These Judges, Prosecuters, D.A.'s, and lawmakers LITERALLY believe criminals shouldn't be held accountable for their crimes because that would victimize the criminal more. In Democrat cities, crime, homelessness ( drug addicts, alcoholics, and the mentally ill) and lawlessness is rampant, and people like this "Judge" are responsible for the deaths of our countrymen and the destruction and degradation of our society, and they should ALL serve time and restitution for their actions.

She followed the law. His speedy trial was about to expire and by keeping him locked up it would have and his entire case would be dismissed. By releasing him it extends the time frame for his speedy trial. this is protected under the 6th amendment and state law. The only one at fault is the DA for not presenting this to the judge in time. Also the issues with the discovery. That alone can get the case dismissed as well. So what it looks like is he did 2 things. 1 a motion to compel discovery and a motion to a speedy trial.
